Hey awesome video man. Incredibly helpful. Just wondering tho you mentioned the gain and bass knobs on the amp but what about the treble. Do I just set it the same as the bass?
just get a kenwood excelon ddx 793. just watched a video of a bench test and with the rca outputs he turned the volume to 30 as high as it would go on all sources with no distortion what so ever and deck power went to 26 until it distorted .
Need help with my 1 channel amp (have a 4channel as well) no one in dfw with a damn o scope or any way other than by ear. On my cxa1200.1 I have a gain, bass boost crossover and dB bass boost. My db boost is off and only using gain an fb some of my crossover bass boost about half way but just need help with setting my 1 channel badly lol shops sucks and if I didn’t catch the smoke from my coil as fast as I did I wouldn’t have a speaker. Thank god my L7Q15INCH is ok so scared to do shit lol
Play a -3db or -5db 40hz test tone, you can get it somewhere on the internet. Make sure it's high quality. Turn the bass boost OFF make sure you have no loudness or loud feature enabled on the head unit. Make sure the headunit EQ is set how you want. Turn the amp gain to MIN, and turn your headunit to max undistorted volume (listen by ear or do a Google search the more popular headunits are usually listed in the forums with the max volume number they distort at on the RCA's. Play the 40hz test tone and slowly turn the gain up until you hear auditable distortion. Back gain back a bit until you feel it's clean. This method will get you close. When I did my 4 channel I was a hair width away from 1% tdh as measured by a SMD DD-1. You can also look on eBay for cheap o-scopes and they come in handy for more than just amp gains. Hope this helps.
Penguinboy1995 Thank you. I am sponsored by Kicker but the only problem is I’m in Dallas Texas and every single shop around here doesn’t have a O-scope. Or any other meter to the tech clipping and I also have a four channel amp which I think is tune correctly. Right now I want to turn the lamp I have three different knobs I have one for the gain, db bass boost knob, and a crossover frequency knob. I have that does Sabor bass boost all the way off I don’t have any bass boost turned on on my head unit and just noticed that the equalizer on the head unit was still set to flat and not my custom settings for my four channel amp. The shop that is supposed to be at Custom Stereo shopThey installed the big three incorrectly and I was dipping in 11.0 11.5 voltage range which before the big 300 never did that low I am talking to type so if words come out messed up I’m sorry but anyways I have the games that almost halfway to crossover base boost about almost 3/4 of the way and so far no burning coil
Penguinboy1995 just I feel shops aren’t trying to take advantage of me and my speaker is a L715inch Q class in a custom box. On a CXA1200.1 ALSO a 360.4 let’s hope my 4 channel and head unitbEQ is ok. I’m sure it is for my four channel. Back to my 1 channel. Right now no DBs bass boost. Knob is down all the way and my gain knob is about half way and my last knob is the crossover freq bass boost and that’s a little over half. All aftermarket 6x9s alpine type r. All of my wiring is perfect and the right size and awg. No loose connections on fuses or fuse holders. If you can look me up on fb and message me would be great last name Martin and should have a kicker hat on black thanks
tell me what real gain is, is it removal of distortion or getting clean and clear sound. i know one can get sound without distortion, while you don't hear the bits clearly?
Gain is the "signal level" of what you're amplifying. You increase or decrease the signal level to match the signal of the head unit. Too low gain means weak signal, and too high gain means distorted or possibly clipped signal. You adjust the gain properly to prevent distortion, not remove it. Also, clear sound depends on other things too like the install, speaker placement, speaker materials, amount of power, matching of system components, etc. You could have a distortion free system, and it could still have a harsh tweeter, lack of midbass, or boomy subwoofer bass.
Yea I have a 04 dodge grand caravan that I'm puting 2amps in so should I do the b3 upgrade or not keep it real wit me thanks or if u have any other ideals let me no thanks 😃😃😃
If you can do the the BIG 3 do it it always helps even if it seems like you can't tell audibly it DOES help, your amps will function allot better, bass will hit harder and the electrical in your whole system will function better
Got two jbl amps one pushing door speakers, the other to the sub's why is it really loud from 1-12 then after that gets shitty quality and the sub's don't hit that much anymore? The door speakers are alpine type rs 300 dollar speakers a pair and pioneer champions idk if this could be the problem or I might need a upgraded alternator because I'm pushing too much power?
Like the stereo goes up to 50 but I won't even turn it to 20 because it doesn't sound right its like the higher I turn it up the sound is poor I just wanna figure out why i can't have it past 12 without sound cutting out pretty much
Try turning the gain down a little bit.. did you tune your speakers by ear? It sounds like you’re having clipping issues. Do your headlights dim when the bass hits ?
I was thinking about adding a AB amp to go along with my D class amp just not sure whats the proper way to wire them any ideas in the future for this??? Also is it even worth to amplify my aftermarket components speakers the the two up front are 50 rms and the back ones are like 90 rms.
The proper way would be to run a single 0 gauge power wire from the main battery to your amps. Then put a fused power distribution block with a smaller 4 or 8 gauge wire going to each amp(whichever it needs). You can use a seperate ground for each amp. No longer than 18 inches. I'm unsure about the remote wire... I read somewhere that you may need to hook up a relay, to properly turn on the two amps. Wether or not you amplify you speakers is your choice. They'll definitely sound louder/clearer. What's the point of getting 50/90 watt speakers if you're not gonna amplify them.
no, this deck doesn't clip until 59/62. my amp gain is set to play clean at 54/62 and plays clean to 59 with bluetooth and sources that aren't as loud as USB. everything i was playing was clean, you just may have heard it differently though the mic.

preference, adjust how you like it to sound on your EQ before you set your gains.
is it bad to try and set it the day i get my subwoofer
props for bumpin the 2 chainz riot! One of my favorite 2 chainz song!
What if I don’t have a bass knob, can I control the bass from the HU
Yeah you can
Penguinboy1995 so when setting the gain should I have the bass turned up or off on the HU?
@@crimsonghost411 set the bass where you'll have it set on your hu then set your gain accordingly
You sound like Danny McBride LOL! Awesome.
***** Haha I thought the same and then saw your comment.
PSNCraCkBaBy13 lol fo real thought the same shit

any reference to the test tone CD? link
Many amp brands give those tones mp3 for free on their actual web site
Did you used to replace your speakers every other week?
Nope because it may sound wild but the gain was set properly. I had these speakers in 2 different vehicals and never had one issue with them.
Love the tenth gen f150
How did u get your head units storage part on top?

What is distortion ?/ Sounds like what ? Mine just gets louder.. I don't hear a Chang but louder that's it so does that mean I'm good full blast ?

Ok thats kool wat gauge wire 2 use I have a 04 dodge grandcaravan
@dee brown depends on how many watts u are running..best thing would be run 0 gauge n you will be good in future if u upgrade..
Ok gd thanks man
No problem
Where can I get the disc?
No disk. I got mine on the website for the smd DD-1
Can I tune my amp and head unit to 20 hertz?
where can i get the test cd from
www.damoreengineering.com/dd1.html
sounded like you head unit was clipping from high 30's-early 40's? good try at the video to each his own!
no, this deck doesn't clip until 59/62. my amp gain is set to play clean at 54/62 and plays clean to 59 with bluetooth and sources that aren't as loud as USB. everything i was playing was clean, you just may have heard it differently though the mic.
Good try ? Each own ? Like he failed , or u are so much better. fk off idiot
None of this made any sense.
Haha Burp
