    Cool music makes decent gear. Not bad for a portable amp with a lot of features including the tilt back design. Good demo.

    Great, honest review! Wow, this little guy has lots of features for the money! I like the compact size. I've been wanting to play around with an amplifier. Hope Santa is watching! 🎅🏼👍🏼

    I'm glad you found the amp that works for your needs and hope it's still serving you well. I'm actually thinking of ordering the first one you displayed (the one you returned) as I prefer powering by electric over battery. Wish me luck!

      Wonderful. It seemed like a perfectly good little amp. I hope you love it.

    I never used to like the single speaker ones as I had feedback problems, I've had a couple of Boss ones with 2 speakers and that works better for me when playing backing tracks, electric guitar and vocals.

      I understand - but I haven't found a battery operated one. You got a lead on that?

    The Cool music BP 40D is the amp you need. 4 channels 2 mic with separate gains with reverb and 2 guitar with separate gains with reverb and chorus. A master volume plus a keyboard in and Bluetooth or stick for backup.

    • @TheUkuleleFool
      @TheUkuleleFool  3 місяці тому

      2 mics that would be useful now that I have folks joining me in my performing endeavors.

      I'm just ordering the BP40D. Have read the reviews and the specs. I just need it for small gigs. I do have a full PA system but it takes up a lot of room. Love the fact that it's got the Bluetooth and thumb drive to play background tracks.

    Great video Lisa! It's amazing how many amps are out there, but how few are suitable for the casual busker with two inputs and battery power. I like that the one you chose has an XLR input for fancypants three-wire mics.

    • @cdnskydog
      @cdnskydog Рік тому

      What is a Fancy Pants 3 wire mic?

    • @Martin_Entertains
      @Martin_Entertains Рік тому

      @@cdnskydog XLR mics use a big round connector with three pins. You can see the mic input on the amp is bigger than a standard 1/4" jack. That's because the standard jack is at the center of the XLR input. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head why you would want XLR, but it's nice to support both.

    • @TheUkuleleFool
      @TheUkuleleFool  Рік тому +1

      Good eye on the input. Now I need a better mic than my husband's karoke mic.

    I bought the Cool Music BP40 and 80. Both were WAY TOO LOUD! Returned them and bought this Mini. It is JUST RIGHT and fantastic for acoustic, singing and electric as well as back tracks via Bluetooth. It is just fantastic and by the way, PLENTY loud!

    That little jack input on the back could take a Bluetooth receiver to receive backing tracks from a phone.

    I am both a Ukulele/Mandolin/Mandola/Octave Mandolin/Irish Bouzouki and various types of Guitar player - too boot I play in a Traditional Band here in the UK and too boot I have been a Sound Engineer for 45+ years........
    The best ACOUSTIC Commbo Amp I have found is the Orange Crush ACOUSTIC 30 amp.........
    It has both Mains and Battery Power(10 X AA Batteries) Twin Channels with Controllable Reverb and Chorus on both channels, FX in/out and most important it has an XLR output for Line Level Sound into a Mixing Desk.
    I use mine as an Onstage Monitor AND Standalone Amplification for busking.
    It is extremely robust - 18mm Baltic Birch Ply and a 10 inch Celestion speaker.
    I haven't heard a better one and I have seen/heard dozens.
    The best review I can give is is that ir sounds like your ACOUSTIC Instrument but LOUDER?...,
    It is a bit expensive at £320 UK.

      Thanks for the great information. I don't perform too much - I am so busy teaching, but that may change. My neighbor is getting rid of all his guitar stuff and he has several Orange Crush amps. I will take a closer look at those and see if any of them are what you were talking about.

    This does seem to be a good option under $200. 30watt amp with 6.5" speaker and reverb knobs should do the job well. Key addition to this amp compared to others I've seen in this price point is that it has a DI output in the back, which allows you to plug it directly into a mixer/ sound system for larger venues (it can double as a floor monitor). For those who don't mind spending a bit more on a great busking amp with the DI output option, I would recommend the Fishman Loudbox Mini line. There is a battery powered version that is a bit more than the standard but worth it if that's important. Not only are they portable, but its a bit more powerful (60w compared to 30w) and they have awesome sound for busking all the way up small coffee shop/brewpub type venues. Many musicians in my community (Including myself) use this amp for gigs.

      Thanks for sharing that. I just donated 10 ukuleles because I made my last charity goal. I think my husband would shut down my charitable outreach if I had to spend big bucks for an amp.

    Enjoyable video. I've become partial to the Roland Cube Street EX speaker. It can use batteries or plug in, and it offers mic input (with reverb effect), guitar/ukulele input (with a number of effects), as well as backing track input. Further, the volume is great and the bass is pretty rich. It's about double what you paid for yours, but I think well worth it. New subscriber here!

    This is a good review Lisa for what seems an excellent product. One question if I may - is there enough volume for a ukulele session in a care home of about 60 residents (Christmas singalong etc) ? If there is, I think this would be excellent. I note the UK Amazon price is about £150. Many thanks.

    • @TheUkuleleFool
      @TheUkuleleFool  Рік тому

      I haven't put it to that test yet. I should be able to test that out when I do my Christmas adventures. A lot of that would also depend on the acoustics of the room, and the level of background noise. My guess, is that it probably would.

    • @O9Angles
      @O9Angles Рік тому

      Yeah it would I've played in a subway station with this. Obviously the more volume the more battery power you use. The chorus option is great you didn't try that ha.

      It does sound like a lot of money, but unfortunately this is the price point for a quality pickup system (i.e. Misi, LR Baggs 5.0, Fishman Matrix). I have installed cheaper versions along with these expensive versions in my ukes and there is a difference. For my main ukes I use for gigs I have the Fishman and LR Baggs versions, but I have heard that the Misi is also a great option (the rechargeable feature is a plus).

    Remember kids, it’s not the size of the amp that matters, it’s how you use it. 😄…🫤
