I’d say Ethereal metal for Deftones and I heard someone describe Tool as Euphoric metal which I loved. Don’t really think Deftones could be described as progressive as it lacks the elements that would traditionally be used to describe progressive rock. How about connoisseur metal for both of them 😂 Just real quality heavy music.

Tool is by most accounts Progressive Metal. IMO so is Deftones.
