    For anyone wondering, the song is 'Manannan', from the album Tara (2001).

    @Luemm3l Indeed. Although there are basic jazzy fusion elements in this song (like the 3 sets of off-time 3/2 shuffles in the beginning and the lightning quick 16/4 snare fills peppered througout), this song is pretty basic technique wise. Most Absu songs are just abrupt variations within one given time signature. :/

    How old are you, 24? Slayer's been around since 1982 and pretty much set the standard for everyone. I was fortunate to see them back in 92' and nothing compares. Proscriptor stated Slayer as Absu's biggest influence.

    Slayer although deserve their props, are unfortunate sell outs. FYI: when Proscriptor auditioned for Slayer, he obliterated Vinnie Paul's drumkit. I wish I could see the video of that!

    @SkeetSystem Agreed. Dave Lombardo has power and little else. He's not even that fast.

  • @SteelProphet
    @SteelProphet 15 років тому +1

    You can't downplay the importance of Dave Lombardo in Slayer though, but these days his playing comes off pretty uninspired unlike Russ who's still doing cool drum parts.

  • @SkeetSystem
    @SkeetSystem 14 років тому

    @ribaone Slayer have their place. I have most of their CDs. I stopped buying after God Hates Us all because...well...you do the math on this one.
    Point being, I don't listen to Slayer for creative/virtuoso drumming. Lombardo cannot and will never compare in this regard.

    drummer kicks butt....vocals suck.

  • @KerryisyourKing
    @KerryisyourKing 15 років тому

    If Kerry King said he wasn't good enough for Slayer, he probably wasn't... this guy is fast but he's no Dave Lombardo, who is Kerry's friend and longtime drummer which makes him a legend, you need to learn about REAL metal bands...who the fuck ever heard of absu? absu-lutely terrible mate!

  • @Luemm3l
    @Luemm3l 13 років тому

    As good as Proscriptor is for a drummer, you can't make it out of this video. This is pretty shitty - for drumming in a technical way. Metal Drumming, at least this Kind (Blasts, Doublebass, etc.) requires Stamina, but not Technique. Don't get me wrong, i love Metal and there are a bunch of talented Drummers (Martin Lopez of Opeth or Mike Portnoy for example), but most of Metal Drumming isn't really that hard. Try Charly Antolini, Art Blakey, Dave Weckl... Drummers from other Music styles.

    • @SpikeValentine
      @SpikeValentine 8 років тому +1

      Yeah... no, son. Stamina is part of these genre. Most "artsy" players can't endure it. Metal drumming isn't about finesse, mostly (some actually has it too). Most Metal players aren't as rudiment oriented, just as most "artsy" (not to just call them Jazz players or prog players) can't handle the speed and endurance required.
