The migration of the first humans, I postulate, occurred way before 100000 years ago. The adaptations of all tribes across the globe to their environments took longer. the vast differences present in Asians, Europeans, Polynesians etc indicate a longer time frame. What does that say about mixing
the occurrence of light skin is not just an adaptation to limited sunshine, but also to the change of diet from hunter-gatherer food, which would be mostly protein and fat high in vit D (part. organ meat) to grain based, vit D deficient diet, after the onset of agriculture. Only at that point has white skin become an evolutionary advantage and quickly spread through the population , possibly also helped by male sexual preference for blondism in females. (Neoteny features imply youth and thus fertility) Which is why the original European HGs were fairly dark-skinned, before they were replaced by the light-skinned farmers from the Middle East and Yamnaya-derived Indo-Europeans after them. The Inuit (Eskimo), the most northern-living people about, are not particularly light-skinned, even compared to fellow NE Asians such as the Japanese or Chinese, because they remained hunters until recent history, so their skin tone didn't need to change.
I''ve also seen research pointing to temperature. As early moderns exit Africa and mix with Neanderthals in the levant they also enter the world of Ice Ages. Considerable evolutionary pressure is at work with multiple mutations emerging simultaneously. It's just childishly silly when some on these channels claim the world was once populated by tropical Africans. Those traits are themselves mutations that are climate specific and not advantageous across Eurasia.

I have been doing my own life study on Melanin and Nutrition definitely plays a role. When I take my liquid vitamin D with K2 Supplement my Melanin is more vibrant (darker). With proper Nutrition my Melanin becomes richer, and also with proper Rest my Melanin shines.

I think in the northern parts of the world you can have 'dark' skinned samyoed asians or tenets (not sure of the exact name, but they're an Asian group). It's been said that their skin remained darker, despite the lack of sunlight, because their diet consisted of a lot of vitamin D.
thanks for your addition to the discourse. That is correct. There are two routes for the production of inactive vitamin D (25 hydroxyvitamin D). Therefore, dietary sources of vitamin D remains a logical explanation.
Of course, vitamin D does not make your skin darker. I believe you misunderstood the opinion expressed. He meant since there was enough vitamin D through diet, reduction in melanin through a gradual change in the gene did not occur for those specific groups. That is how I understood it.
That is ok. Vitamin D is converted to calcitriol which helps with calcium absorption from the bowel. Calcium then gets deposited in the bones to strengthen the bones. People unable to form the precursor of calcitriol, in this case, vitamin D develop weak bones(more accurately named osteoporosis). Humans with osteoporosis can break their hips during a fall. Hip fractures can then result in mortality (based on the literature, this is about 20 percent mortality rate). Over time, if you have a high level of melanin in your skin and you live in a very cold climate with minimal sunlight, you might not survive long enough to pass on your genes to the next generation because you developed osteoporosis. Gradually over time, there will be a natural selection for those with lighter skin.
For those reading my comment….is there another source of vitamin D apart from its formation in the skin, aided by sunlight? You bet there is. Dietary sources of vitamin D in high amounts will therefore mean that these darker skinned individuals living in a place with low light conditions can still have access to vitamin D. In this scenario, these people will convert this dietary source of vitamin D to calcitrol (this is actually a hormone). Calcitriol will then go on to aid the absorption of calcium from the bowel. These melanated individuals will then be able to maintain their bone strength. This means they will be less likely to develop osteoporosis. No more fractures and hence death. They will survive long enough to pass on their genes for melanin production to the next generation. This is what the OP meant when he challenged the vitamin D + sunlight hypothesis. I hope you all understood this?

Africans going to Brazil? I like your channel, but Van Sertima's work has been heavily criticized among archeologists. I honestly don't think there's enough evidence for this
You make a valid point regarding the criticism of his work by western scholars. I will however like to point out the intellectual damage created by racist white archeologists and historians of the 20th century. It will certainly be difficult to say with certainty at this time, whether they reached South America or not. If blacks of the Andaman islands were able to reach the Indian subcontinent after the continental drift, it stands to reason that blacks could have reached South America. I am of the same belief. Africans produce albinos at a higher rate than anywhere else. In order for those people to survive, the African climate forced them to move. So the lack of sunlight or vitamin d WILL NOT cause melanin to leave your body to make you white. Besides, melanin ain’t no punk, and it ain’t going out like that!!! If you look into Dravidian albinism, you will find the European origins.

I had to edit the post because I happen to be one of those African people with straighter hair. I grew up in foster care and they began perming my hair when I was a child. I’m 50 I stopped using chemical relaxers, about five years ago, hoping for an Afro . My hair gets wavy and curly when wet. But it’s too straight to be an Afro. If I brush it back into a ponytail after I wash it it dries completely straight like I permed it. Without any heat at all, I just want an Afro. 🥲

Where do you fall on the theory that early man before he lost all of his body hair had very light skin.. I've noticed in documentaries lately on evolution, they now tend to show them with light skin under their hairy body's.. it is said that their skin did not become dark until they lost their hair..& exposure to direct sun light..
Without there dna it’s impossible to say. Many animals with various shades of fur/hair, have light colored skin but some have darker skin. I think the emphasis on black Africans populating the whole earth is oversimplified and ignores a lot of science and years of evolution. You had many divergences, and migrations in many directions over the past 70ky. People inhabited parts of Europe and northern Asia/Siberia well before the proposed timeframe explained for not black skin. There are many different skin colors that would have evolved before the proposed time in this video. We started in Africa with many migrations out of Africa. Humans have been evolving from a common ancestor for hundreds of thousands of years which created variations that didn’t necessarily lead to black Africans populating the earth. We are humans that have evolved in different ways through genetic mutations that were advantageous in different environments. It’s not about black and white.

Note: Melanin is much more complex and does more than protect the skin from the sun. In the human body it photosynthesizes the sun's energy, like plants automatically do. It is in every human cell and is responsible for raising the frequency of cells and thus the body, which quickens everything one does, ie physical movement, thinking, etc. It directly affects the pineal/pituitary glands which allow for higher spiritual connections, experiences, capabilities, and levels.
The more melanin one has, the more these abilities are amplified.
