    In Australia we call these “sensitive weed”
    They grow everywhere in yards, very hard to kill

    Very cool species! I hope they all will grow well this summer

    I loved the heavy duty prune back lol. It’s a cool species I hope the cuttings takes. 👍

      Yea these kind of trees(mimosa) seems to always get lengthy growth, not sure how it will respond to the pruning and root work. Hope it lives lol

    I hope both the plant and the cuttings grow well!

    Did it work? Would love to see the results after the hard pruning. Do you now have a Mimosa Bonsai?
    I love this plant and have about 13 of them, all at different stages.
    I'm no gardener, but love tending to it.... noand now you've got me thinking that I could have a bonsai version

    Nice ! I like the colors of the trunk and foliage, I wonder if the colors stay the same as it matures ?

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  3 роки тому

      I believe the foliage stays the same colour but I “think” the trunk will get woody like other mimosa trees. I guess time will tell!

    The "shy" plant.. Maybe I could try one also because we have a lot of it here.. 👍👍👍

      Alex, have you seen big ones? do the trunk get woody eventually?

  • @TropicalBonsai

    Invasive here so they aren’t for sale, I need to find one to dig up.

      Funny how a weed in your area is something for sale here and really rare to see haha

    Your specimen really is a shy one, all the leaves closed up one by one just from you handling it. How large do these guys get in nature, I remember reading that they're a low growing plant. Is it at least in the shrub family? Hope the mama plant recovers nicely and all the cuttings take root!

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  3 роки тому +1

      I am not really sure how tall it gets but Chris from bonsai guru(nursery owner) said the trunk do not thicken fast. So I might be pruning this back many times in the hope to keep it small. The leaves close so easily, watering and wind make them fold up lol

      @@MaybeBonsai How long does it take for the leaves to open again?

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  3 роки тому +1

      @@OddBonsai I have not times it but probably a few minutes at least. The leaves also close up when the sun is too strong. It is nice having a plant that knows what it wants haha

      @OddBonsai 3 роки тому

      @@MaybeBonsai Oh, that fast? I thought it's would be something like a Venus flytrap which takes a lot longer to open (about a day if I'm not mistaken).

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  3 роки тому

      @@OddBonsai maybe it is longer but definitely less than a day lol

      This plant in the video died die to a few cool nights right after repotting but a cutting from it is still alive and doing well. If you are thinking of doing a repot and pruning, make sure to keep it warm
