When I was 10 my uncle took me to a black diamond and I had taken one skiing class on the bunny slope and he pushed me down. I rocketed down without turning at all and was headed straight for a bunch of people standing by a fence so I took a risk and threw myself into the ground, sliding forward and taking out some middle aged women by colliding with her legs and broke my ankle. But I distinctly remember not caring because my uncle bought me a burger afterwards.

How I learned to snowboard 35 years ago? One lesson. Then.. It was follow your friends and try your best to keep up. It only took me a few trips. Either you learn to master all terrain on the mountain, or you get left behind. It only took a few trips. That season was the best of my life. It nearly killed me, but I learned the skills quick. Never give up! And NEVER EVER walk down when you can ride. Get back up on that board(or boards) and point down hill. It was a great life lesson for the rest of my life. Perseverance. But, that's just me.

No. Point the tips down the slope, and be certain to cross your tips on the first turn, fall straight down the fall line (it’s named that for a reason) over your ski tips, bounce out of control from one mogul to the next, losing gear along the way, yard sale style, and slide to a stop 300 yards down slope having lost everything but your jacket. How else will you ever learn that you are on a run you don’t have the skill set for? It worked for me.

@@jp4431of course it is. It’s always ridiculous to see so many snowboarders edging down a black repeatedly on purpose, like, literally nobody cares what runs someone else chooses anyway, so what on earth is the appeal of “harder” runs to people that literally can’t run em..
It is def the same as a skier just sliding down like that but because that’s so far from normal skiing I feel like people feel stupider doing it, and try not to.. I think many boarders don’t even get the difference since they’re still on an edge when riding, but if doing right are carrying lateral momentum..
