I mostly agree but Chapter 7 should be lower and I don't understand how people keep losing the Punies in Chapter 2. Literally everyone who has played this game has this problem but, I think I only lost the Punies once when I was 6

My new Ranking: 8. Chapter 2 Atmosphere is beautiful but the rest kinda sucks. It’s kind of a worse Pikmin. And I don’t just mean the backtracking in Boggly Woods or navigating The Great Tree. The Punis don’t fall off of edges, or respond to you as well either. 7. Chapter 7 I originally put this at the bottom of the barrel, but since then, I found more to love about this chapter. Like the X-Naut Fortress. General White is still a stupid way to pad out the game. And the Moon is still boring. And the enemies are still reused from Chapter 2. 6. Chapter 4 I love almost everything about this chapter. Goth color palette, and especially the story. This should have been number 1, but it starts with backtracking has backtracking in the middle and ends with backtracking. The enemies in Twilight Trail are also annoying. Especially the Dayzees. 5. Chapter 1 Being honest here. The main draw is Hooktail Castle. That dragon lady is good a RPG dungeon design. There are only like three end chapter dungeons in the game, and they’re all good. The rest of this chapter is whatever. 4. Chapter 5 I don’t understand why people on this channel don’t like this one that much. Sure there’s about as much backtracking as Chapter 4, but thanks to the elevation of one of the rooms. It’s a lot easier now. The story is also awesome as you sail with pirates to find treasure and Pirate’s Grotto in one of the best Areas in any Mario RPG. Also that ending is chef’s kiss. 3. Chapter 8 This was originally number one but I’ve come to realize that the beginning is kinda slow, up until Dark Bones it doesn’t get that much better. It’s long which works for a final area, and the stakes are high. Also another end chapter dungeon. You can see why I love this chapter huh? 2. Chapter 6 Get your detective hats on. It’s time for a more story driven chapter, and the unique theming being on a train, gives this chapter some edge. Also I love how eerie Riverside Station is. Having no song there really sets the mood. Everything here feels so alive. 1. Chapter 3 Picking where this chapter belongs was difficult, but since then, I’ve come to realize that the battles are the best part of the game. So why not have a chapter dedicated to them? The mystery element is better executed here too as you’re distracted by fighting. Makes you feel stealthy. The top 3 are basically the trifecta of amazing chapters that you’d expect from a game like this. Chapter 8 has the gameplay side. Chapter 6 has the story side. Chapter 3 has both. This game is beautiful man. Well yeah. There’s all the chapters from my favorite Mario Game.
FINALLY someone who loves 💕Chapter 2’s visuals as much as I do! (I’m a sucker for environmental visuals in fact, it’s kinda like seeing Energy Hold’s aesthetic in 3D the more I think about it) Anyway great video.👍
Tha backtracking in Chapter 4 is far worse than the backtracking in Chapter 7 imo. Chapter 3 is my personal favorite. Glitzville is awesome and actually makes grinding fun!
My ranking: 8. Chapter 8: Compared to Super's last chapter, this doesn't have much going on. You fight random enemies, fight repeat bosses, fight more enemies, fight Grodus here for some reason, fight Bowser who rudely interrupted, and then fight the final boss. Did I mention that you fight? 7. Chapter 1: It feels really basic, even for the first chapter. Going to a castle and fighting a dragon isn't too unique, even if Hooktail had some enjoyable moments. 6. Chapter 6: Interesting mystery the first time, but since the whole chapter relies on it, there isn't much interest after that, and since I knew the plot going in to the game, there wasn't any intrigue when I played. Also, Smorg is a pretty lame boss. It just showed up, kidnapped the passengers, and then got defeated. It didn't even have the Crystal Star. 5. Chapter 4: Very interesting story with the identity theft plot, and Doopliss is my favorite boss in the game, but after the first fight the chapter just becomes Backtrack Town. 4. Chapter 7: The backtracking is obviously annoying, but when you get to the Moon it gets better. The X-Naut Fortress is such a fun area, since you get to see the areas Peach visited and even more, but why was the boss Magnus von Grapple, but again? 3. Chapter 2: Controlling the Punies was fine, and I like the atmosphere. I also like that the X-Nauts invaded the tree, but Mangus von Grapple is a pretty meh fight. 2. Chapter 5: Good locations, good characters, Cortez and Lord Crump are great fights, I really have no complaints with this chapter. 1. Chapter 3: Since the fighting and mystery are balanced this time, the fighting doesn't get old and I don't get bored of the mystery, and Rawk Hawk and Macho Grubba are two of my favorite bosses in the game.
I really hope that if this game gets remade, the punis stop getting lost all the time. Also, I thought the story in chapter 6 was pretty good, and excess express at dusk is some of the best music in the game, but there should have been just a little less of a stretch of time without combat.
Here's what I think they should do in a TTYD Remake: 1)use Color Splash/Origami King's Artstyle,Fonts and remix the Music in their Style 2)make the Punies less obnoxious like you just said 3)give us the opportunity to just skip the stupid General White Hunt by just entering his house 4)fix all the Pacing and Backtracking issues 5)make the Spike/Fire Shield badges work even on Partners 6)give us a side story aka Paper Luigi and the Marvellous Compass 7)make a new Theme for Magnus 2.0 and Bone/Gloomtail 8)make Trophies/Flags like in Color Splash and Origami King for completion(ex. Collect all the Badges, unlock all Zess. T recipes and so on)
@@mediocrity5693 also,a couple new things 1)add the Bosstronic Simulator from Origami King in case you want to re-fight or forgot to Tattle a Boss 2)add a Run Button 3)allow 360° movement for the Hammer like in the last 2 Games
As for the bubble thing with the punies, I have to disagree. I barely had any problems with it, and as for the timed section you don't even have to worry about the punies at all. You can just leave them to die if you want to.
Fair enough with the bubble thing, I’m never gonna like it 🤷♂️, but ditching them is something I heard in this comment section a little bit, I never knew that, and it will be very useful on my next playthrough
the disrespect to chapter 6 is insane i actually loved this chapter, the story and the break at riverside station feel so nice to me idk why that's just my opinion tho
Hey, you better, I've actually been watching your videos for a while now, but I'm actually kind of glad you put, chapter 3 is sooo top spot, I've notice a lot of people give chapter 3 a lot of hate, because a lot of what chapter 3 is just constant fighting, so they say its boring. And while it might, I happen to really like the idea of it, that kind of challenge. The pit of 100 trials since there's 100 fights. And stuff like that, although I am surprised you put chapter 4 and second with all the back tracking
I never beat this game, so I have no opinions on all the chapters, but I enjoyed hearing about your opinions. I hope Nintendo rereleases this game somehow so I could finally beat it.
I have to get the upgraded membership first but other than that once I play it a couple of times, yep, and that includes full paper Mario videos as well because that means I’ve played every game in the series
@@ShroobInvader Very Nice cause won’t that mean you will then have done every Mario rpg boss ranking or do you still have yet to do paper jam and or legend of the seven stars? I sorta forgot which have been done ne
About Chapter 6, I know the mystery isn’t great the second time around, but Pennington is still hilarious imo, and I like the ghost and the conductor (I mean I like all the positive stuff you said too, especially the Smorgs, just tryin to give another view on the negative stuff) Also, in the timed part of Ch 2, you don’t need to keep the Punis with you the whole time and blow them over when you’re timed. You can just rush to the boss fight.
Ok first off, didn’t know the second part, thank you for that info, but also I kinda just, got bored of Pennington? As well as the ghost. It does make the story more interesting but definitely the zip toad stuff is the best part of the story for this chapter
@@ShroobInvader That’s fair. I might also just be partial to Chapter 6 because I like trains so much haha. But I did overall like the video, and the chapters are really tough to place when you think hard about it.
I played PM TTYD for the first time months ago. I got sooo bored through chapter 5, 6, and even 7 before you get to the moon base. Chapters 5 and 6 are my least favorite chapters in the game because they feel like they move so sluggishly throughout.
Video idea: Did you like kersti from Paper Mario sticker star? Here is my list of chapters in ttyd: 8. Chapter 2 Probably my least favorite Chapter in the paper Mario series the punios are annoying to control and if you lose a punio you have to backtrack to the elder which makes this chapter boring the only good thing is the boss lord crump is one my favorite villians in the Mario series. 7. Chapter 6 please did not hate me I have my own opinion on this chapter I have a negative the mysterious thing it’s fun on your first playthough but on your other playthoughs this place can be a bit boring since you know the mysterious the boss is easy at least for me because I use Vivian and art attack the bosses attacks in chapter 6 are good. 6. Chapter 5 I have mix opinions on this one the good stuff I like the ending where lord crump was four eyes as a plot twist and the cortez fight is amazing even though its easy the negative is that stones puzzle well you have to hammer something amount of times and jump on something amount of times and the backtracking is kinda of annoying in keehaul key. 5. Chapter 1 okay this chapter being the first is decenting good I like the music of its catchy and hooktail is a good fight. The negatives is this place is very easy of course because it’s the first chapter in the game. 4. Chapter 7 I like the xnaut fortress it’s very amazing with its puzzles and the music is amazing there this the only paper Mario game to make me have a chapter 7 song stuck in my head the negative is finding general white of course fetched quest aren’t so bad but finding general white because people from the chapters in that visit will tell you where general white is when you find him in the house you have to jump on him that’ll not funny the next three chapters is where I love the most. 3.Chapter 4 Okay this chapter I love this place it has my second favorite partner in the game and I like the story Doopliss is a fun boss I love the Doopliss battle theme it’s really catchy but I do have a problem it’s is the backtracking of course when you body gets stolen I like that’s idea but the backtracking is pretty annoying because of the daisy enemies. 2. Chapter 8 I love this place so much let’s get to the negative the puzzles are annoying sometimes and that’s the only negative I have the postives of course the bosses I like the final boss it’s pretty hard I love hard boss plus shadow queen is known as one the best bosses in the paper Mario series in my opinion I just love the music it’s very good and amazing in the second phase and the fight is good on that phase so that’s why I like chapter 8 so much. 1. Chapter 3 one my favorite chapters in the paper series only behind castle bleck form spm glitzville is better than sammer kingdom because you get to fight with a rpg battle system well Spm is a platformed I just pefer glitzville grubba is funny character in my opinion mystery is better than chapter 6 and Rawk hawk music is so good.
A ton of people pointed that out and it’s something that I am now not going to take with me lol, but it still makes me hate the bubble room, it just takes a long time
Nice list. My opinions are fairly different from yours, so it was interesting to hear your perspective on these. Here's my rankings of the chapters: 8) Chapter 4 - While the atmosphere and concept are undeniably good, I find the backtracking to be at its worst here, even more so then with General White. The enemies are a pain to avoid, and the fact that they can inflict sleep is a serious problem if Mario is all you have. Additionally, you can't move quickly because you don't have Yoshi. I also don't like the boss fights all that much. Doopliss is too easy, even with partners because his HP is so low, and Atomic Boo is kind of annoying due to all the status infliction. Despite all this, I still do like this chapter to an extent. That of course means I like every chapter in this game. 7) Chapter 1 - It's pretty good for a first level, as you said, but it does get brought down a bit by the excessive simplicity. It makes sense why it was like that, but after playing this game far more times than I can count, it does start to feel a bit lackluster. Your options in the battle system are pretty limited at this point, and the location/atmosphere aren't anything all that special. The Hooktail fight is built up very well, but I'm not personally a fan of the ATK FX R thing, since it makes the fight pathetically easy if you use it, but way to difficult for a first boss if you don't. 6) Chapter 2 - As you've pointed out, the atmosphere and art style are great. It definitely is a good step up from the first chapter. Controlling the punies is definitely a pain at times. I actually don't hate the bubble room all that much. If you stand further back, it's much more consistent, since flurrie's windbox is wider. You also don't have to bring the punies with you during the escape sequence, so that's not really an issue. What I don't like is the hole in the trap cage. Blowing the punies in there just doesn't seem to cooperate for some reason and it's annoying. The boss is fine, but as you said, not all that interesting. 5) Chapter 6 - The concept behind this chapter is very unique. I like how TTYD tries something different with each chapter, so I have to give this one credit for that. The problem is replayability. One you've already gone through the chapter, it just isn't all that interesting anymore, so it's a good thing there's more to it than just riding the train. I like the boss as well. Since this is getting towards the end of the game, it's good that they make it legetimately threatening with all its damage potential. 4) Chapter 7 - The first of the three where my placement is the same as yours. As everyone says, the general white quest kind of sucks, but I don't seem to mind it as much as other people. At least you're consistently going to different areas rather than the same one over and over like in Chapter 4. You also have Yoshi and the blue pipes to help you. I won't deny that it's completely unnecessary though, and an annoyance every time. Just like you, I really like the X-Naut fortress. I like the boss as well. Sure it's a re-skin of Chapter 2, but it's much more difficult, which I like because it makes Crump feel a bit more threatening for once. 3) Chapter 5 - As you said, it's all around just a good chapter. I like the island and pirate cave setting. The whole pirate theme in general feels pretty unique. Cortez is also probably one of my favorite bosses from the whole series. Him having three phases that all work completely differently is great since it keeps the fight fresh. I'd like to see more boss fights include different phases. The pirate ship battle scene at the end is also really good, as you said. The only downside is that there is a moderate amount of backtracking after first reaching the skull rock, but the rest of the chapter more than makes up for it. 2) Chapter 8 - This is where my opinion is most different from yours. I actually really like this game's final chapter all throughout. Of course, the ending is great, as you said. However, I like the rest too. You seem to dislike it because there isn't a whole lot of story events going on, but I think that's perfectly fine. By starting off slower in pace, it helps build suspense, which I think is great for the finale of any narrative focused game. The creepy music just makes it all the better. Fighting a lot of enemies is fine by me too, because the battle system in this game is just fun to use, and presents enough options for things to always be interesting. I also like most of the bosses quite a bit. They're fairly challenging compared to the rest of the game, as they should be, since it's the last chapter. 1) Chapter 3 - This is my favorite for pretty much the same reasons that you stated. The battles are fun, not just because of TTYD's excellent battle system, but also because of the variety of enemies and the conditions you have to play around. Everyone always talks about this Chapter being really good story-wise as well, and I agree. The way the sense of mystery rises as you climb up the ranks is a great way to build up the final showdown with Grubba, which is another very solid boss fight with quite a unique attacking pattern. I'm always excited to play this chapter in every playthrough I do, because it's just that good.
I just beat this game yesterday for the first time. That means I have beaten all paper Mario games. Also have you played paper Mario 64 on the switch yet?
I have a completely different ranking haha 8: Chapter 2 (I want to kill the Punies) 7: Chapter 1 (decent) 6: Chapter 8 (interesting but it kinda boils down to enigmas after enigmas after enigmas...) 5: Chapter 7 (EASILY would've been the best chapter in the game if it wasn't for the horrible General White Quest) 4: Chapter 4 (Easily would've been top 2 if it wasn't for the backtracking. I love Vivian and the story of this one is awesome) 3: Chapter 5 (Consistenly good, the most balanced one in the game, it was pretty fun with no real negatives and the theme is pretty cool) 2: Chapter 3 (Fantastic, only problem is that the beginning is basically waves of fights with nothing really happening) 1: Chapter 6 (I love the story, the theme and I actually think that the fact that there isn't a lot of combats is a nice break and I really enjoyed it)
@@ShroobInvader The prologue has good pace and tone to it. Like genuinely it's the best of the beginnings of the original trilogy. Chapter 7 just isn't that great to me, despite the fact Cross Naut base absolutely slaps
That’s absolutely true, even though it’s filled with all the tutorials, it still lets you get an ability, do some platforming, fight some enemies, and even a boss
@@ShroobInvader TTYD prologue is a beginning done right. There's the right amount of text, all tutorials are skipable and the pacing is good. Which are what 64 and SPM do wrong with their prologues.
And that last point is the most important, most people don’t like tutorials because it slows down the game, it’s a good prologue because of how fast paced it is.
Yeah same here the enemies in chapter 4 suck, not the backtracking, they are painful and respawn(the backtracking isn’t that bad(I beat the chapter in like 45 minutes)
Yay a video about my fave game and one of my fave topics on my bday!!! Will edit with my own opinion tomorrow after the video. Opinion has not changed 8. Chapter 1 7. Chapter 4 6. Chapter 8 5. Chapter 7 4. Chapter 2 3. Chapter 5 2. Chapter 6 1. Chapter 3
I Hope, that if they remake this game, that they will make the Puney part a lot better! My suggestions: -give Mario something like a whistle, so all of them will come to him -make them move a little faster My suggestions to change Chapter 4: -just decrease backtracking (1/2 times would be alright) -I would love seeing a bigger ghost mansion and more exploring Also I would love seeing some other changes: -give us more of a sky city like in Chapter 3, maybe a whole theme park, idk but I think it would match -Chapter 5: I would love having more islands to explore and to experience more of the pirate stuff -Chapter 7: more of the moon, better balancing for the gravity -A playable version of Luigi’s Story
@@BlackSheep_777 yes and the few things I disliked were patched!: Chapter 2: No whistle, but very improved AI for the punies making it a lot more fun Chapter 4 / Backtracking: For Chapter 4 they added a pipe between Twilight Town and Creepy Steeple, also better for 100%ing the game Fast travelling pipes to each chapters main place, a lot more fun and faster
finally somebody who doesnt put chapter 8 at the bottom. i love chapter 8 the ambience that plays in the throne room and the entire palace of shadows. the finale fight is amazing,im going to stop talking before i write an entire essay.
Blue yeti workin fine for now but once I can afford another one you know that an upgrade will be there ☠️ it’s better than just using an iPhone at the very least lol and thanks :D
dark bowser es el peor jefe final de todo mario y luigi sin contar los de bowser minions y es que salvo en la musica hay jefes mejores y ese es el problema es solo otro mas
The only chapter i like from ttyd is 6 (but on second playthrough i didn't like that one because i knew the mystery). Otherwise, ttyd's chapter range from mediocre to terrible

Get your detective hats on. It’s time for a more story driven chapter, and the unique theming being on a train, gives this chapter some edge. Also I love how eerie Riverside Station is. Having no song there really sets the mood. Everything here feels so alive.
1. Chapter 3
Picking where this chapter belongs was difficult, but since then, I’ve come to realize that the battles are the best part of the game.
Good list :D
Wait, people don't like Chapter 5?
@@An_Account1 I’ve seen lukewarm opinions on Shroob’s channel in particular. As far as I’m aware everywhere else, 5 is well liked.
@@Driggsdamonstah I'd say it's my second favorite chapter in the game, so people disliking it is surprising.
You literally made my favorite two chapters the bottom two… girl WHAT
FINALLY someone who loves 💕Chapter 2’s visuals as much as I do!
My ranking:
Good list :D
@@ShroobInvader Thanks.
in the boss ranking, for chapter 5 are you going to do both Cortez and lord crump or just Cortez or just Lord Crump
Not sure if I’m gonna remake it yet but I’ll probably include every single boss
I really hope that if this game gets remade, the punis stop getting lost all the time. Also, I thought the story in chapter 6 was pretty good, and excess express at dusk is some of the best music in the game, but there should have been just a little less of a stretch of time without combat.
yes I agree and for chapter 6 it was a very different chapter
Here's what I think they should do in a TTYD Remake:
1)use Color Splash/Origami King's Artstyle,Fonts and remix the Music in their Style
2)make the Punies less obnoxious like you just said
3)give us the opportunity to just skip the stupid General White Hunt by just entering his house
4)fix all the Pacing and Backtracking issues
5)make the Spike/Fire Shield badges work even on Partners
6)give us a side story aka Paper Luigi and the Marvellous Compass
7)make a new Theme for Magnus 2.0 and Bone/Gloomtail
8)make Trophies/Flags like in Color Splash and Origami King for completion(ex. Collect all the Badges, unlock all Zess. T recipes and so on)
@@Shadex_Joestar that sounds perfect
@@mediocrity5693 also,a couple new things
1)add the Bosstronic Simulator from Origami King in case you want to re-fight or forgot to Tattle a Boss
2)add a Run Button
3)allow 360° movement for the Hammer like in the last 2 Games

im glad now that school is over the uploads can come faster
I do sadly have summer school but its not as bad as normal school and doesn't hinder me as much
As for the bubble thing with the punies, I have to disagree. I barely had any problems with it, and as for the timed section you don't even have to worry about the punies at all. You can just leave them to die if you want to.
Fair enough with the bubble thing, I’m never gonna like it 🤷♂️, but ditching them is something I heard in this comment section a little bit, I never knew that, and it will be very useful on my next playthrough
the disrespect to chapter 6 is insane
i actually loved this chapter, the story and the break at riverside station feel so nice to me idk why
that's just my opinion tho
Hey, you better, I've actually been watching your videos for a while now, but I'm actually kind of glad you put, chapter 3 is sooo top spot, I've notice a lot of people give chapter 3 a lot of hate, because a lot of what chapter 3 is just constant fighting, so they say its boring. And while it might, I happen to really like the idea of it, that kind of challenge. The pit of 100 trials since there's 100 fights. And stuff like that, although I am surprised you put chapter 4 and second with all the back tracking
Thanks and yeah I like the chapter a lot because of it not JUST being enemy fights, now that is why I don’t like the pit of 100 trials

About Chapter 6, I know the mystery isn’t great the second time around, but Pennington is still hilarious imo, and I like the ghost and the conductor
(I mean I like all the positive stuff you said too, especially the Smorgs, just tryin to give another view on the negative stuff)
Also, in the timed part of Ch 2, you don’t need to keep the Punis with you the whole time and blow them over when you’re timed.
Here is my list of chapters in ttyd:
Good list and I’ll possibly do that video, not completely sure but it’s a consideration
This list Is very good but i wanted to point out One thing; in chapter 2 its optional to take the punies in the time sequence
A ton of people pointed that out and it’s something that I am now not going to take with me lol, but it still makes me hate the bubble room, it just takes a long time
@@ShroobInvader Yes i totally agree
The Smorgs were technically created by Beldam to slow Mario and his party down from getting the Crystal Star.
Aye I'm glad Chapter 2 had such a glow up in your eyes
Getting Desensitized to the layout and the punies definitely shot the chapter up the list
Nice list. My opinions are fairly different from yours, so it was interesting to hear your perspective on these. Here's my rankings of the chapters:
8) Chapter 4 - While the atmosphere and concept are undeniably good, I find the backtracking to be at its worst here, even more so then with General White.
Nice list :D
It's a shame about chapter 4, especially since a simple fix would've fixed it. It's such a weird oversight

7: Chapter 1 (decent)
6: Chapter 8 (interesting but it kinda boils down to enigmas after enigmas after enigmas...)
5: Chapter 7 (EASILY would've been the best chapter in the game if it wasn't for the horrible General White Quest)
4: Chapter 4 (Easily would've been top 2 if it wasn't for the backtracking. I love Vivian and the story of this one is awesome)
3: Chapter 5 (Consistenly good, the most balanced one in the game, it was pretty fun with no real negatives and the theme is pretty cool)
2: Chapter 3 (Fantastic, only problem is that the beginning is basically waves of fights with nothing really happening)
1: Chapter 6 (I love the story, the theme and I actually think that the fact that there isn't a lot of combats is a nice break and I really enjoyed it)

16:54 I hope that's not actually the way you try to do that part.
I Hope, that if they remake this game, that they will make the Puney part a lot better! My suggestions:
-give Mario something like a whistle, so all of them will come to him
-make them move a little faster
My suggestions to change Chapter 4:
-just decrease backtracking (1/2 times would be alright)
-I would love seeing a bigger ghost mansion and more exploring
Also I would love seeing some other changes:
-give us more of a sky city like in Chapter 3, maybe a whole theme park, idk but I think it would match
-Chapter 5: I would love having more islands to explore and to experience more of the pirate stuff
-Chapter 7: more of the moon, better balancing for the gravity
