    Recipe 4 hate
    Against the grain
    Stranger than fiction
    No control
    Suffer (arguably)
I agree with the influence Suffer had on subsequent punk-leaning mainstream bands, but Against the grain outmatched the previous ones (imo), though I love No control.
My favourite being Recipe...arguably so, a matter of taste, a mix of nostalgia that enhances its value, IDK. Nice Review!
Bad religion took a giant leap with Recipe and Stranger than..., which won them tons of criticism from the radical side of HC, unfair! I love those records, the sounds, the drums, the melodies, the experimented a bit but did not lose the HC feel the had. You have to move on, so they did, so does everyone. Again I like your Review.

I like How Could Hell Be Any Worse, it's a lot better than the whole Atlantic era and is also better than some of the other non-Atlantic material. Suffer is over-rated, it's about taste, but I can think of some that are better (like Against The Grain, The Gray Race, or True North). One of the things that make them stand out is the use of difficult words, but it makes me look up things and expand my vocabulary.
Generator is alright, I haven't listened to it for a while, so maybe it's better than I remember it to be.
A part that I like is "Hate is a simple manifestation
    Of the deep-seated self-directed frustration
All it does is promote fear and consternation
It's the inability to justify the enemy
And it fills us all with trepidation" (Them and Us)
I like how they put together the rhymes in this one. The song is Them And Us from The Gray race, which is one of my favorite albums by them.
Thanks for making this video, it's interesting to hear how someone looks at the same kind of music that I listen to, but that have different opinions about it.

I'm halfway through this and really enjoying it. At one point I had 13 different BR cd's and made a point to listen to every song on each one at least once (I was a huge fan for a while).
Never realized the trilogy concept but I think that's a great way to conceptualize their albums. An interesting thing about the New America album - I heard Greg was actually in the middle of a major depression when he wrote that one (his wife recently divorced him supposedly). While there's some irony that Greg's depression produced the happiest sounding BR album there is, it makes sense that perhaps he was trying to uplift himself at the time instead of wallowing in negativity, hence the happy/uplifting vibes in much of that album (Greg's divorce is also reflected in the song 1000 Memories).

Trilogy thing is 0% official, just intuitive to me
      True about the depression!

I was pretty much agreeing on everything, but then you highlighted the Error EP, one of my all time "one shot" discs. Thank you Colin.

yep, I might do a one-shots episode of this series sometime but Error is just not proximate to anything enough to mention it there, except as a thing to mention re Brett after detailing Greg solo. I think I can also consider it an all-time one-shot.

@@csurname I finished the video, I pretty much agree with everything. My only (minor) gripe, is you didn't cover the b sides and extra tracks for tons of records. Some of my favorite BR tracks are extras, especially Finite.

@@mmpsp693 It's a point, but a point that's aside the format of this series. I would love for these to be officially collected in a way that's easy to access. tbh they might be on the streaming services.

Many agreeable takes. Yes, No Substance is underrated (annoyingly, the recent vinyl release does not include Campino's vox on Raise Your Voice). But while Dissent starts out pretty good, it just loses me starting on the fifth song. And while what would be the album closer, Avalon, shows some signs of life again, the last five just should have been cut. Utterly forgettable. Every song on New America has more puls than those.

damn, I didn't know that about Campino. Is he replaced by further Greg vocals? Do you know the reason?
I was ready to disagree re Dissent but I looked at the tracklist and can't make a case.

Back in 2000, I went to Rock im Park. Die Toten Hosen were headlining one of the days and they actually played Raise your Voice.
