So agree. Why would anyone be a jerk. You never know someone's situation. If I'm taking recycle out at my apartment complex and there is someone getting the money recycles out of the bin, I just hand them what I have. I don't know what they may need that money for and it's none of my business anyway.
I do not get why so many people criticize. If you don't agree with what she's doing then a don't watch it and be don't go out and do it yourself it's that simple. I've been dumpster diving for 6 years it's a very very viable way to get food.

There is a small segment of the population that isn’t allowed in public, you know, been asked to leave various stores, kicked out of bars, avoided in Schools. Yeah. The only place they can go, and NOT get kicked out of is the internet. These are people that would find fault with a kid aiding a senior citizen across a busy street. I used to LOVE the website Imgur. It’s a lot like reddit. Anyway, I related to a story about airport security. I got ATTACKED. Called a liar, accused of making the experience up. Why? Because I worked for a company named TSA. That was the name of the company back in 1988. I only worked for them a few months because back then pregnant women weren’t supposed to work around the equipment. Anyway. It hurt my feelings so much, the upvotes that the negative comments got told me that bullying is the preferred engagement on that website. It ruined it for me. I will never get it. But hey, there are lot and LOTS of folks that go for the bad boy, bad beech type. Smh. Ok.

I am catching up on the frugal family now with my granddaughter who is also 7. I haven't seen her in 3 months and I'm not allowed to watch their vlog without her. She absolutely loves them. She's been begging me to let her go with me to dive. That she can help me....I ❤ this kid! She's my sidekick but she's still not going with me. Very rarely am I able to get food items. I'm in Florida so diving for food around here is unbearable. Department stores, pet stores and home improvement is where I hit the jackpot in my area.

Hope everyone is fine! Its really warm in Tennessee! Lol just walked to the mailbox(my trips, other than walking our land with the dogs, and I'm grateful for that! I took the mail woman some hand sanitizer and alcohol and put it in the mailbox for her...everyone is forgetting to thank them!!! Thank you to for giving me videos to watch! My husband drives a semi delivering hand sanitizer and alcohol and such..six days a week, 14 hours a day he is gone! Your my saving grace so thank you Amy!! Don't worry about snarky people! We’ve stopped dd. Not so much out of fear of covid but fear of scared ppl who are upset by dd and calling the police. Our state has a statewide stay at home order, no travel unless essential for life. The streets are dead at night when we typically go and police are checking on why you are out. I think ppl are stressed too. I just remind my daughter we have to be the light, things are extra dark now. Totally putting our frugal energy and time (unemployed due to covid) towards gardening now. I haven’t turned you! Hang in there. Hustlers like us will be ok. 😂

My dad and I got caught once. He was actually IN the dumpster! The security guard said he didn’t care if we did it but just come back when they aren’t there. So we came back 30mins later when they closed got a major haul!! Sorry that happened to you. Glad to see you’re all staying healthy!

Hi Amy. We went diving again. Aldis a ton of fruit and veg and fish none expired mostly still in the racks. Shameful. We took what we could. Gave away a lot to neighbors and family. All benefit from the dives no waste. We pulled at least 200.00 of food. Funny those who said that dad was terrible now enjoy our visits twice a week. And that makes me happy and I feel useful. Thanks Amy. You inspired us.

You're doing what you enjoy doing, you're not hurting anyone. If anything, you've done so much in helping other's.
Not to mention (as I've mentioned before) in these difficult and often yeah, scary times (certainly) with the pandemic and just other would be difficult situations in life, you've always managed to give your best and positive (yet honest) take on things. And in doing so, you do help people "think". And that's not to say that we, the people don't think on our own. But you certainly have a strong ability to put things, life situations, issues & problems that may be happening in life and you tell it how it is, you don't sugarcoat it and yet? You help put perspective on it, and do so with a twist of kindness, and in a let's all work together kind of way, & with a we're all living it together mentality and we're all in this one life and on this one earth 🌎together sort of way etc etc. And so you do make us think about the little things and the big things. Or as I like to say, "the little things that end up becoming the big things in the long run".
(It's evident that you can take the girl out of social work, but you cannot take the social work out of the girl)...
I've been a writer all my life, with a degree in psychology. I pursued my passion in songwriting🎶& find that all my studies of psychology work still creep up on me in everyday dialogues. & has so, sometimes to a disadvantage. i.e (As people, friends, loved ones feel that your picking their..well? Brain. & feel that I do so with pen & pad, or so I've been told. Granted, it's never intentional, just happens & such is life.😬)
Point is, we're all put on this earth, & this is just my opinion, that we're put on this earth for a purpose. And honestly Amy? As I've watched your and Dwayne's many adventures, it's clear to me that your purpose is & probably always will be, to help people. But now? You're merely doing it from a different format. Before, (as you've mentioned) from or within an office & behind a desk. Now? Behind a camera, recorded & streamed for all to see. You're hitting a larger audience as it were. Young, some younger, old or just older. But people are listening. And their listening through your everyday stories, the stories you often begin with, as you drive to your locations & during your targeted locations.
So don't ever apologize for talking pre-dumpster, during dumpster or post dumpster diving. Or more so, don't ever say it's boring. Because it really "is not". I personally, as many, many other's would agree. We enjoy your talking immensely. It's like having a cup of coffee in the morning and talking to or listening to a good friend about everything and anything.

We actually had an employee help us look through the dumpster .. This was at big lots . she said she took out a lot of things earlier . .

Our Walmart was fully stocked this week and has put up limitation signs still out of TP but my water is still running lol so not worried about hygiene atm. I have history in both cancer and heart attacks so I wore gloves and a face mask when I shopped very few did though /shrug I am not afraid though . I am in rural e tx Thx for the respite trying to do positive things and stay away from too much news Trust God's love

I’ve had the police show up at my door.... it was so stupid, Walgreens didn’t confront me, there wasn’t a no trespassing sign and they sent an officer to my house to ask me to stay out of their dumpster, I was dumbfounded! All I could say was “0kay” and that’s it, he left.... no big deal and yes I’ve dived there again, just not during business hours.

I'm also a big dumpster diver for food and other things. Everyone said I shouldn't because of the risk of the coronavirus. I didn't listen. I now have COVID-19. I've been very sick for a week and not getting better. I'm not saying I got it from the dumpster, but just be extra careful. I can't stand negative comments. If they don't like it don't watch. Also funny that the same thing happened while I was at an Aldi, she said get out, that food is in there for a reason, blah blah blah lol. I did get 5 pork loins before she caught me. I did the same and didn't put anything back. Great work just be safe.

I fill my liquid detergent bottles with water after there "empty " and get two more loads washed.
I've always done that, and don't understand why everyone doesn't. Its so wasteful not to.
The older I get, the less 'life in prison' is a deterrent. (so I warn folks who I wanna kill....) BUT take heart-- enough going on now than to worry about a single store employee with diaper rash. Dumpster diving-- not illegal--- plus you are getting groceries to feed your family and the stores generally do not own the dumpsters as they are leased. As long as there is pavement for people to drive back and forth on, how can it be trespassing (w/o signage). My 2 cents--- now off to work and diving in the morning. Stay safe! (PS do you really think a dumpster call is something a cop wants to respond to? They haven't even been making traffic stops around here. "excuse me officer, would you mind stepping back 6 feet from my window?")

It’s called public access way and Supreme Court rules dumpsters as being public property...they also have given release of liability to stores in an effort to get them to donate instead of dumping in the landfills...but stores choose to dump in landfills anyway..

I feel safer going to dumpsters than in the stores right now. Anyone who wants to be snarky; they're the one's with a problem. They know what the video is about from the title yet they clicked on it.
I read where masks and gloves are a waste unless you personally are sick.
Depends on the mask. Surgical masks aren't much good for keeping particles out but an N95 (or higher) mask is. The 95 means it filters out 95% of airborne particles. Almost impossible to buy in today's climate however....
Cdc just changed that. Even a bandana is better than nothing.
It was the idea at the beginning of the pandemic. More we learn about the virus the precautions have changed. You'd better wear a mask and gloves when you are out of your house and car.
