Another way to go is get a bit of land and build your own place. After 30 years in Bangkok we bought 5 rai of land in Chiang Rai and built a little place a bit over 300 square meters in the middle of it. A nice pond and great views over open fields with the nearest neighbor 100 meters away. Not everyone's style but another option. Yes, everything is in my wife's name but after 25 amazing years together I am not worried, plus I want her to have something when I am gone.
There is a new law that the wife can not kick farang out of the house for ten years. One have too see the lawyer, but the wife might be offended.Who care, one has to secure his place. I know some English folks that are divorced but everyone has it’s floor and everything is fine. They stay good friends. I met young French guy crying his soul out. He bought the flat after living five years with his girlfriend. He moved the furniture from rented house and seat down. His partner told him what do you think, get out.
Hi Wayne, greetings from Jersey - Channel Islands, loving the apartment content, as well has the rest. Hope your still in CM when I arrive in October (56 day's, until I arrive there)
Hi Wayne, the house nos 86/7 shown in your video blog, at time from 22:46mins to 23:04mins. This beautiful house was once owned by my friend. He was a Cyclist and Biker. According to another friend who shared with me, this house was bought for Thai Baht 13,285,531 Converted to S$500,000. Converted to US$360,302, Converted to Euro 355,901
Saw some tennis courts, notice any badminton courts ? Very nice area, didn’t get the feeling of a gated community..some parts must have been there awhile due to the more mature trees and vegetation..I stay nearby when in CM, next time I’ll have a look also…🙏🏻🤓🕊
Yes Norris, had some Tennis courts but not sure on the Badminton. Lot's of other things around the estate. I think it's meant to be gated but anyone could drive through. Nice place.
Beautiful places Wayne! Not trying to be a negative Nancy but us blokes can’t own a house. Safer to rent least we give a house to the misses. Don’t do it guys! God bless!
How the other half live mate. I'm happy on the other side of the fence. but some of these places are doable in Thailand, that's the crazy thing. Back to my budget room i go mate 🤣🤣
Hey Wayne, this one was good to watch mate. If you looked past the Thai street signs etc, you would think you are in a western part of the world for sure! Some great looking houses there. Be interesting to see the quality of the builds. So you were in building Wayne? Alot, not all houses newly built here are built quite quickly and due to that some quality has been comprimised, and at times the owner is unaware of shortcuts being taken, just for the dollar gained. Work has only a min of 7yr warranty, have seen houses only 2-3yrs old falling apart due to shitty workmanship. This place sure does look like a decent area to live, could stay there myself quite easily,Yeah will chip in me ole Mucker. Are there any westerner building workers there Wayne? cheers mate,avagood1 man, avagood1, Ron
Cheers Ron! Yeah the work can be rushed and done on the cheap here. I'm not sure about these nice houses but some of them look really well built. I've never seen a westerner working onsite here. Cheers RON.
Good days mate ,,we are come from Vietnam 🇻🇳 living in New Zealand 🇳🇿,,and we are to know how much is. Millions THB. For one house in Chiang Mai Thailand Play 90s phone?
Hello buddy! Houses are all different prices here man, depends what size and the location. The house in the video should have the price on screen. I forgot how much it was. Thanks.
Awesome homes Wayne. Wondering whether they have the drainage in place to avoid serious flooding. That was the first thing that came to mind. Did they seem to have that covered from what you know and can see? Cheers Wayne.
Thanks Steven, i didn't look at the drainage mate, but knowing what the reat of the city is like for flooding, i would say nothing in place for flooding. I could be wrong but i doubt it.
🤣🤣 We could always try Jason. I was trying to look for one around the 7000 - 10,000 mark 🤣 Swimming pool and seperate garage included as well ofcourse 🤣
Although the area you toured is quite nice, I never wanted to live in Hang Dong. There must be similar nice places north of the city, just far enough to be beyond the sound of the aircraft, but also as close to the city as possible. It seems rather depressing that there is so much new building happening in that Hang Dong area. Those quiet streets will not remain for much longer, sad to say.
nice vlog Wayne, gave me some ideas on what I want to do with my land in the future. Though i still hold the view that its best to rent long term in Thailand unless you have a legacy to pass on the property to (Thai spouse or children). Thai property are notoriously hard to liquidate so its not advisable to plough in large sums of money especially when the need to leave the place arises. Another UA-camr you may have heard of (Paddy Doyle) used to co-rent a night house with a pool in Chiangmai as well and it was inexpensive. So if you've got a mate coming here that you wont mind living with, would be a great option.
Hello again. Those are nice houses. Still, so many owners of these houses are gallous of your life style : free to take off & free to " touch down" whenever you wish. God save Wayne.
Hello Wayne. Excellent vlog indeed all round. Quite possibly the best vlog you have ever done or thereabouts. Loved it!!! Motorbike shots outside of the city are also a big plus. Thank you so much 👍😊
Great vlog Wayne. Really useful as I will be in CM for a month in September looking to rent a house for a year. One of your best vlogs, hope you smash the views mate 👍
the homes that can be bought in Thailand for decent mula, would cost crazy money in uk Wayne, I lived in chantaburi for long time and the homes there were crazy cheap. but it comes with one big catch would you buy a home in Thailand and put it in a your Thai gf names lol great video Wayne
That's right mate, it would cost a arm and a leg back in the UK. Hopefully they relax the buying rules for foreigners but even then, it would be risky. I have heard about some land rules changing, but we shall see. Thanks buddy.

Would totally buy one of those, if getting married & having kids, got us foreigners Citizenship. Bs,Laws, understand Dubai they are Wealthy AF. Thailand makes no financial sense, great tour Wayne🙏🏻
They looked like dog boxes, so close together and no yard😵💫🫣😬 us Aussies must be spoilt with green spaces and backyards. I would prefer a Condo than these. They all looked the same. In OZ we would call them budget Villa’s
This is a awesome area, well worth checking out to live. Sorry about the phone holder rattle on the bike..
11:05 Open House means the owners open up the house to interested buyers to come in and have a look around. The same concept in Australia
Nice , I might go back on Sunday and have a look 👍

Nice , I know that place but never had a look. I think house prices are pretty similar though. Could be worth a look sometime though. Cheers 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne it's as big as a decent sized country town lol

“Act nice and natural” 🤣 This is like that video where you went to a cafe and ended up in someone’s garden 🤣 Undercover Walk About Wayne! Love it 😁
Hahahaha i remember that vlog, i walked right into a private garden, filming away haha. 🤣🤣🤣
I love the big trees in that area. So shady and cool.
The tree part was my favorite also. I could see myself living there.

Hang Dong is nice rich area, but there are also many ordinary houses. Many houses have lovely gardens.

You can rent here aswell, so best of both worlds Thanks buddy.
I have seen a ton of nice homes for rent, some around 40,000 baht. If you have roommates you can live with a big house just might be the ticket.
Yes, a house would be perfect for a group of friends or sharing with a few people.
How the other half live. Nice one Wayne 👍🙏

OMG! If you wanted to live the luxurious expat lifestyle in Chiang Mai, that's the place! I wonder how much one of the biggest new houses costs?
It's a lovely area, some amazing houses. I would love to know how much they are.

That's right mate, always noise coming from somewhere.
Houses too close rubbish development
All about how much money they can get from the area.
For me one of the downsides of these developments is there is rarely any shops, even a 7/11 , within walking distance
Only Thai can buy landed properties. I presumed most English speaking sub are non Thai here. By the way, Moo Ban is Village. Everywhere is Moo Ban lol
