Loved watching you caulk that door in. Fine bead, fingered in. Exactly how I've installed a few hundred myself, 35 years as a glazier. For some real comedy, watch some British glaziers here on UA-cam silicone their doors in. They use masking tape on the floor or wall, and tape on the channel. Then they lay a huge bead, approximately 10 times the required amount. Then, out comes the special rubber tool with which they remove approximately 90% of the material they pumped out. Frickin hilarious
The actual question is concerning your local glass shop, not a big box store. Anyone stupid enough to go to a big box store for a euro-style shower door or enclosure deserves the huge upcharge involved. They're just gonna subcontract it to the exact same glass shop you could have called on your own. 35 yrs a glazier here
This is for fairly advanced diy-ers. With glass the devils in the details. But if you’re good with details it’s do-able. I would get some suction handles off Amazon to carry the glass. You can save 100% markup on installation. For example, if glass costs $2k installation (at least in my area) could cost another $2k.
It looks like a great product and packaging is on point cheers for posting

Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
Steve, have you ordered from glass shops locally in the past? If so how does this compare process wise?
Awesome! I'm wondering if they can do a shorter version for a show/tub surround.
For sure 👍
Hey Steve. How can the
U-Channel be fastened at the floor level? Can it
Be imbedded into
The tile when laying the floor tile? Thanks Steve.
For sure 👍 Schluter Deco sg profile.
Greg, that’s a slick look. Just make sure the profile is “above” your waterproofing membrane.
Any comments about price vs. quality compared to the big boxes or local stores? customer service for any issues? thanks.
I’m not aware of box stores dealing with custom orders like this? If it’s a standard type door system, it’ll be tough to beat the kits
