Sometimes I wish they did a bit more research. For the IONIC 5N for example - it's basically THE electric car for driving enthusiasts. it's the first car that (if activated) can simulate shifts, stalling and many other things with software, which is a really innovative concept.
Gemera hasn’t changed you have the three cylinder variant and the V8 variant. So you have two variants. So funny how Tony absolutely slagged off the Valkyrie for so long and now he loves it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Solus GT was epic to watch up close, the speed it carried down the straight and then the speed it managed to shed for the corner was out of this world!
I think the Revuelto is still in development mode, the men in Sant Agata will be fine tuning the engine sound in the run up to launch. For comparison the Huracan V10 has tiny holes drilled in the exhaust tips, when I asked an engineer at the factory if they were for heat dissipation he said "no, it makes a better noise!"
You are right Yianninize has just ordered one. He sat in it, started it and nearly shat himself. It is loud on startup. How loud will depend on each countries regulations for sound. Big love, kindest regards, Richard U.K
Whenever Tony makes a point I always disagree until you delve deeper and it makes complete sense. It's like movies, go in with ultra low expectations you more than likely come out loving it or hopefully not regretting you just wasted 3hrs of your life.
I’m putting forth the reason the Revuelto (sp?) has an underwhelming debut is for the past ten years we’ve seen Lamborghini release a ‘new car’ every 12-months. Yes, they’re all based on the Aventador, but to the casual observer this new one is just one in a long (long) line of 12 Lamborghinis, of which this looks similar to a few of them. So while yes - it is an all new vehicle, that really only appeals to the enthusiast who understand the significance and implications.
I thought the same regarding FOS safety, Having witnessed the McMurtry Record run my thought the entire time was if this goes wrong alot of people in the crowd are going to be in big trouble. I also agree the Thursday this year was absolutely rammed, I said your exact same words regarding it feeling like Saturday / Sunday levels of busy. It is a fantastic event, but I fear it is time for it to evolve, Motorcircuit doesn't have massive catch fences but they have distance from initial barrier, that is something much harder to achieve on the hill climb.
Booked for the 3rd Sept event...looking forward to one of my first trips with something I'm happy with (collecting next week)! Great episode guys as always.
Sam I was a marshall on the very first FOS (1993) as I use to sprint then on the circuit and it was definitely for petrolheads and quieter but also had some serious crashes in the first few years. Its a great event but it is not safe enough 1,000 horsepower cars are just too quick and straw bails insufficient. Fantastic Podcast from you and Tony with sensible comments, insight but good humour.
I feel like Koenigsegg is being well under rated. They have the most exciting and innovative technology in the whole car industry. Their new e motors are monsterous yet are tiny. The Gemera is such a cool car.
The hay bales were about 6 or 7 deep at Molecombe for a reason. They put enough for each danger point as needed. No need for catch fencing. The bales did their job with no injuries to anybody. I suspect if the driver of the Hyundai had hit a fence he would have been injured as he could have bounced off
Always surprised when you’re talking about electric hatch backs, that the Cupra Born doesn’t come up. Essentially an ID3 but with a nicer looking shell. Personally I really like them. Great episode as always 👍👍👍
Honestly I used to work in a tyre factory and go to the racing sometimes In Mexico and trust me Pirelli are shit unless your on track Michelin tyres alll day
I was at FOS goodwood on Friday and I can confirm the new high performance cars are very quiet. I was so disappointed with Ferrari Daytona SP3 and Lamborghini Revuelto. On the other hand the best sounding cars were Aston Martin Valkyrie and AMR PRO, Ferrari FXX-K (my personal favourite car of all that day), Koeningsegg Jesko and Pagani Huayra R. In terms of the electric cars - it's worth mentioning that the first performance car in that segment was tesla model 3 performance. In my opinion it is still the leader when it comes to handling and performance at price point of £60k. The Ionic 5 N looked very heavy and wobbly on the track. They guy tried to drift it but it just looked pathetic and at the end he hit the plastic blocks as the car just didn't do what the driver wanted it to do.
Nice podcast guys ! Also disappointed by the sound of the revuelto, but that was still a pre-production car. Lamborghini itself said the production version will be louder !
Re Goodwood safety, I thought last year that the McMurty was so fast what would happen if that left the road. As Tony said the event has developed so much in 30 years, Goodwood needs to keep up with current car development, safety wise, before there is a fatal accident.
There were already two fatalities at Goodwood in 2000, both the driver and a marshall at the finish line. You would have thought the Jaguar wheel flying into the crowd is another wake up call for them.
Goodwood banned modern F1 from going up at speed out of safety back in 2000 but there are numerous modern cars faster than that now and they still nail it all the way up. Makes no sense and is clearly unsafe. Catch fencing should be a minimum now.
Koenigsegg should make a "smaller" (under $250 K) car, so more people gets their hands on them and start to understand/appreciate their engineering, then their hypercars would be more special.
Tony as a BMW and Porsche fan which is a better everyday SUV, the Cayenne or the X5? My special day car is a Boxster GTS and need something to drive the dogs in and take to the stores.
The problem with comparing the Revuelto to the Aventador is that all the great Aventadors have after market exhausts like from Gintani. Don't judge it for at least a year or two.
RR Spectur is a ridiculous 5.6 m long . Same as the old phantom coupe and approx 30 cm longer than the cullinan. I asked why so long and impractical and they said there customers wanted it that long, which I can’t believe as I was a customer
Koenigsegg deserves much more respect on this channel. Christian Von Koenigsegg has really pushed the limits and boundries of modern day engineering with amazing innovations and doing almost all their designing and manufacturing in house while being such a small company is a truly astonishing feat. The Agera One:1, Jesko, CC850 and now Gemera are all proof of this. Sure, Pagani makes some beautiful cars and they have Italian brand prestige but the Huayra has been largely unpopular and even the Utopia is a bit of miss IMO unlike the Zonda which again didn't get many engineering improvements but rather in the latter years was being sold on the basis of "this is the next ultra limited final final really final edition Zonda".
No slagging of the mountain bikers,, Joe was on about redbull hard line in Wales,,,it actually got cancelled due to wind!! Would love to see Tony go down the track🤣😂🤣😂😂😂😂
The T.50 does sound incredible. Like seriously good. However I cannot understand the camera wing mirrors...... It would look 10x better with standard old school mirrors and would also fir the design language better I feel. Side note - The McLaren F1 wingmirrors were shared with..... The VW Corrado. So Sam, if you find yourself driving an old F1 and prang the mirror, dont worry!
Thursday was absolutely heaving, thank god I didn't bother with the weekend this year. The Hyundai N Vision 74 was the coolest thing there, albeit a concept and the Ioniq 5N was just mega. Everything else, was honestly a bit underwhelming from the more 'premium' brands. Unfortunately probably my least favourite FoS this year.
I don't know how Tony managed to hear Lambo V10 while hearing Solus GT. It's definitely Judd V10. Maybe headers or exhaust are different then other Judd engined cars
why can't these clowns do the most basic research? From a quick google: Caterham Project V uses a battery electric powertrain, powered by a 200kW (272PS) single motor mounted in the rear axle. This is paired with a 55kWh USOC lithium-ion battery pack with advanced thermal management, and the ability to recharge from 20-80% in as little as 15 minutes using a 150kW DC rapid charger. With acceleration of 0-62mph (100kph) in less than 4.5 seconds, Project V will reach an estimated top speed of 143mph (230kph) and deliver a target WLTP range of 249 miles (400km).
@@TBATTIECYCLING yes exactly my point so why couldn't they? what's the point of musing over a car they know fuck all about because they can't be bothered to read the brochure
No point going for the Emira 4 pot at that price. It's only a couple of grand cheaper than the v6. It was supposed to be a lot cheaper but Lotus announced they lost 145m last year, and they might be looking at job cuts. No wonder they raised the price.
I just wouldn't change Goodwood. The risks should be made very obvious, if they aren't already. Sign a disclaimer noting the risks. If the event was 'too dangerous', it would simply not happen as manufacturers and visitors would not go to it. Let Goodwood be guided by a balancing act of the exhibitors and visitors wants
As a side note about what looks ok in the flesh i was in an Aston dealership yesterday & the DBX looked ok (don’t shoot me)…& I thought it was awful in videos..maybe because it was all black..

I struggle to get excited about any car that is a collectors item first and a car you can feel at ease using on the roads second (or third). So basically everything that goes into the millions of $ is in my world just "aha, ok". Sportscars (up to 120k) and Supercars (up to 200-300k) is where its at for me.

The amount of innovation in the Hyundai is probably because it uses Rimac technology.

Caterham Project V preliminary specs:
- 268 bhp
- 0-60mph
Glad Sam experienced the french way of dealing with things : take something simple and making it impossible .

I agree the new v12 lambo has been a bit of a let down. When it launched off I thought it was the technica
Is the Revuelto just a victim of design cycles? The murcielago was pretty understated design wise.
I was really hyped when it got unveiled but now it already kinda feels like an aventador 2 to me if that makes sense
