      Shane it’s easy to do ! If you’re going to cook something large like a pig be sure to put an opening on each end so you can shovel coals under the quarters.

      Thanks for checking it out Charles but as I said at the beginning of the video this is how to lay out and put together a pit. It is not intended to be a specific size. That is why I don’t say you will need this to build this pit.

    I am going to construct one of these for my backyard grill area. I am going to have a grill pan to lay my charcoal and will be able to scoop it up with a broom and shop vac.

      @@CuffNStuffBBQ Thanks my grilling friend! What's your view about having a pan at the bottom to lay my charcoal/wood. I am looking at having my grill on a pavement instead of grass

    • @CuffNStuffBBQ
      @CuffNStuffBBQ  7 місяців тому

      @correctionalofficer4lockdo763 I think it’s a great idea. People who have a pit that stays in the same place have to rake and shovel the pit out.

    Perfect for a small pig but one more block longer, one morè block wider and one more higher would've been exactly what a friend's daddy used about every other weekend

      I agree Chris. I’ve gone as much as 2 longer and 2 wider.
      But this works well for small backyard cooks.

    Hey look! Someone that knows how to cook on UA-cam. 😂 I bet you wont see this man ruin a brisket by wrapping it in butchers paper and throwing a gallon of lard on it!!! Great job. People that cook the way youre supposed to cook BBQ are like a damn unicorn.

    Hey Jimmy, it is a lot of work but that is how some of the best bbq I've ever had was cooked on a pit like that.

    How would you make this more permanent? Cement?

    • @CuffNStuffBBQ
      @CuffNStuffBBQ  6 місяців тому +1

      Jacob if I were going to make a permanent pit there are a lot of things I would do differently.
      I would put it on a concrete pad with a steel grate for embers that could be adjusted up and down.
      I would also put a steel door on each end to add the hot coals. I also would fill the blocks with sand to insulate the pit.

    I will put a block smoker up against a $10000 custom fabrication smoker any day the only way to cook a whole hog. My block smoker does not have a door on each side nor vent drop coal in from the side of top and around the pig But you are not lying about all the coal shoveling you are going to be doing when you cook a whole hog you'd better be invested in time

    • @CuffNStuffBBQ

      I'd bet the farm on the open pit as long as the one cooking on it knew what he was doing.
