Rosella, is a hibiscus that has yellow flowers which die off quickly. But 10 days later you can harvest what is left the calyx’s. you can make tea as shown here or lovely tart jam or add them to sauces and etc. Rosella is the only edible hibiscus. It’s flowers can be used so can the leaves and the calyxes( the part underneath the flower)… Generally in Australia it’s a common favourite for making jam, it is known as the Queensland jam plant. Just a bit of odd trivia there. Anyway, the only way I can obtain some is to grow the plant myself where I live. It’s lovely to grow the plant I quite enjoy seeing it grow. I plan to seeds in late August and then transplant out in early September when ready. This year I was late, so I’m still harvesting calyxes now, but it has been a rewarding experience.
