Old cotton towels and clothes given a new lease of life. I made a tonne of these for charity fetes and fayres, and every pack was sold, with requests for more. I asked people who wanted more to donate their towels and fabric to me to sew them, and I ran more up for a nominal fee which went to charity.
Thank you for the idea! I'm looking forward to watching your other videos but I do have a suggestion, the music in between you talking is very loud compared to your speaking voice.
Hi Monica...if you use a rotary cutter, you can eliminate the entire step of marking your fabric and using scissors. Love your choice of fabrics. Thanks for sharing
I’m sure I could make these in my sleep, literally. I have to admit that watching you sew, and the use of such pretty fabric is very calming and motivating. I wasn’t kidding about the sewing in my sleep. Surprisingly I’ve never messed anything up when it happened. Lol Thanks so much for sharing!
@@MonicaRoseDecor Yeah, and a problem with sleeping at night. Lol I’ve been a night person since I was a young teen, so during the day I dose off during the day.
Nice sewing, when I make mine, I iron the materiel to mark the lines for cutting which saves me time and of course always wash and dry material before sewing starts.and I've used my sreger for the stitching. I also make small cloth napkins so I am not buying paper napkins for my personal daily use of napkins.
Thank you so much. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how to make these. I don't have a serger and I don't really like the zig zag result either. Using another piece of material and turning inside out is brilliant. Awesome video.
Such a pretty and practical idea. Im going to make some for my mom. I'll give her these in a basket along with other handmade treasures. Thanks for the idea. You always create pretty and tasteful things I'm happy to give❤🥰
Use a self healing mat on bottom, a rotary cutter & a long ruler- 24"X6" and skip the pencil, much easier & precise. Thank you for sharing how to make those lovely cleaning cloths.!
I sewed some of these from your older video. I was unsure of dimensions so I made mine a little too large. But I still really like them for cleaning. I think I will see some smaller ones for dish rags. I love your sewing videos, re!axing to watch. Thanks.
I absolutely LOVED this sweet, simple tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring me to do likewise with my plethora of fabrics and my beat up old dish towels! What a wonderful little unexpected gift for me this evening... Blessings! :)
That’s so great!! It’s one of the Best Buy that your husband has invested, I assure you your imagination in crafts sewing is going to bring you so much satisfaction and joy to your family!! Congrats
I'm definitely going to the fabric store now and am going to try and make these for myself and also some as gifts. I have been looking for something fun like this!
Gm doll Just put my lemongrass oil diffuser on and was about to wash dishes and said let me turn on my fav channel and here you are with a new video 🌸🌸 those are Etsy worthy I’d def buy 🌸🌸💕
Monica! I'm in my kitchen, waiting on my coffee, thinking I should buy some colorful towels for my kitchen. What happens? You post this! PERFECT timing! Love you and your channel ❤️. But, of course, your "rags" are gorgeous! xoxo
The music... too loud. Nice idea on the towels. Try a rotary cutter and mat with that ruler. You’ll love it! You would have folded that fabric up a time or two, set your ruler where you need it, and ZIP! All dont at once.
I use fabric on one side and burlap on the other for a rougher scrubber to wash my dishes and they last a long time. Much longer than a typical sponge and those are usually ugly 😆
I don’t... you have left beautiful comments before. I remember you❤️ UA-cam must have unsubscribed you😔 That happens sometimes. Thank you for coming back💞
Monica Rose I went through all your videos and I thought I was confused, I’m sorry !!! I’m glad I subscribed again because I just saw your recent one and it was yesterday’s video. I thought you had 2 channel for a minute. Thank you again Monica I love all your videos ❤️❤️❤️thank you for remembering me .🙏🏽 Be sage always and your family 🙏🏽
Just wondering what the printed side of fabrics are. They look like cotton flannel. Of course the Terry cloth would be very absorbent but not sure about the cotton print. They are quite pretty. A great idea.
I just found your video on making dish cloths. They are pretty! I do want to ask you what type of fabric you use for the print side. It looks like flannel. I would like to make some, but want to use the best fabric for the job. Is it flannel? They would make fantastic gifts! Thanks!
What kind of food did you use for this? I can’t tell fully from the video and I’ve read you shuld use a walker foot. Do you or anyone have any recommendations for people who don’t have a walker foot?
It is a quilting square. This video is several years old, I couldn’t find it to give exact measurements. It may have been mentioned in the video. I’m guessing 8x8?? 🤷🏼♀️
Great idea. Just wondering why Americans say turning inside out when you are turning it the right way out.....it just makes me giggle every time i hear it.
Vintage sheets and skirts also make a great cloth and keeps it out of a landfill. These are very pretty .

That’s great! I used a 9X9 square. You can also use regular washcloths. Just add the printed fabric of your choice.💖
Very pretty. I am thinking of doing this. Have not sewed anything for a few years. Nice to get back to sewing. 🎀🤗
I would love them as washcloths in the bathroom. I may make them as Christmas gifts to give.

These are pretty and practical. Do you find that they get stained quickly?
They do… unfortunately

Is the printed material cotton?
Perfect tutorial. Thank you!
Does the cotton shift around when wet? Can you put stitching down the center? These are a marvelous idea....I love it!TFS.😊 👍 💖
I don’t have an issue with mine. That’s a really good idea though

So what fabric do you use? Terry cloth and ? Is it 100% cotton?
Yes and yes
What a great project, can't wait to try it!
They are lovely!! Very pretty 😍
Thank you!😘
What kind of fabric did you use for the backing of these? Great idea!
Thank you!
I used a cotton fabric for the printed side. Terri cloth for the other side

That would be a good idea to sale them! so cute
Thank you for sharing! I was hoping you would do a video on your pretty kitchen towels!
🤗💖
Might be a silly question.. what size are your squares .. thank you for such an easy tutorial! Will be making some for Christmas 🎄
They are the standard quilting square. I used the plastic guide from the fabric store.
I use fabric on one side and burlap on the other for a rougher scrubber to wash my dishes and they last a long time. Much longer than a typical sponge and those are usually ugly 😆
Beautiful, Monica!! Thank you for sharing this video! ❤️
Thank you I love this idea.
Love these, thank you!
Do you prewash any of the fabric (especially the terry cloth) before sewing??
Yes
I love this idea! Thank you!
You’re welcome 🤗💖✨
Do these wash well and not bunch up? Do I need to use a certain kind of printed fabric? Should I wash the fabric first?
Thanks
Wash the fabric first. Mine never bunched up. I used cotton fabric
@@MonicaRoseDecor Thank you so much!
You’er welcome ❤️
Love the video!!! Do you use quilting cotton or flannel? Do you prewash the fabric ? Thank you for sharing
Thank you! Cotton fabric, pre wash
I'm curious about the patterned fabric. Did you use flannel, cotton? Have you found that 100% cotton is more absorbent?
The fabric is cotton. I’m not sure if it’s 100% or a blend.
Great idea! Thank you!
So pretty, what fabrics would one use for this?
Thank you! I used cotton quilting fabric (printed side) terry cloth for the other

Love the video-music too loud
Got it. Thanks Anne. Nothing I can do about it now 🤷🏼♀️
Maybe mute?
Love, love these!!!!
loved this thanks
Really pretty!!
Thank you Susan! 🥰
Nice video, But for me mine have to be larger which I have already made almost 2 sets unfinished size is 13 x 15. And 12 x 12.
Sounds great!
Those are so cute!!
Love this! Thanks I’m inspired ♥️
The fabric you used, is it flannel type with stretch feel or just 100% cotton? Loved this idea.
No flannel. I believe they were all 100% cotton. Always make sure you wash your fabric first. They might shrink a little 💖
@@MonicaRoseDecor Oh okay. Thanm yoh so much. I really appreciate it.

Thank you! The printed side is a cotton fabric.
Theese are so pretty I wish u could show us how to make some or unpaper towels only hand sowen so they don't frey cause I don't have a sowing machine
Thank you! I think you’d have to use a sewing machine still.😔
Lovely project What type of fabric did you use?
Thank you! The printed fabric is a cotton
What kind of food did you use for this? I can’t tell fully from the video and I’ve read you shuld use a walker foot. Do you or anyone have any recommendations for people who don’t have a walker foot?
Sew with cotton fabric on top facing up and Terry cloth on the bottom. Terry cloth will bunch up and pull. Cotton won't.
Hi Monica, where did you buy the beautiful fabrics, any suggestions will be appreciated!, thank you very much!
Thank you! I bought them at Walmart
Thank you I like the idea and I like buy machine but I don’t know how I can use it I don’t know is easy or no
Very easy. I’m sure you can find something here on UA-cam to help with learning how to sew🤗
Beautiful job! If I was to make them for a gift how many would I give?🙏🏻💜
Thank you! I would give 5 or 6
Thank you! Have a blessed day!
Hello, do you wash the terry cloth and fabric before sewing? Also, do you choose a certain type of fabric when making these? Ty!
Yes. I wash all my fabric before sewing. I use different types of fabric, but mostly cotton blends🤗💗
