Sound Recreate (Bioshock 2 Crossbow with Poison Darts)

In the Fall of 2022, I taught a class covering all things related to game audio. One of the things I had my students do was to re-create sounds from a game. They were instructed to only use their cell phones as mics and to record various things around their homes for source sounds. We then discussed how to edit, layer and produce these sounds to get as close to the original as possible.
I took part in this as well! (It was actually my very first time doing a sound re-create.) Here are the items I recorded:
Dr. Pepper Can - opening, pouring over ice
Stapler - opening and closing, “stapling”
Nerf Gun 1 - cocking and firing
Nerf Gun 2 - cocking and firing
Baby Gate - unlocking, setting it, locking it
Plastic Millennium Falcon toy - opening and closing
Plastic hanger - swinging
Resistance bands - plucking
Mouth - hissing
Guitar Case Latches
Fridge - opening and closing
Oven - opening and closing
Dishwasher - opening and closing
Door slamming shut
Webcam Mic - hitting desk with hand
It was really fun and it's pretty surprising how good of results you can get with a cheap cell phone mic and various household items just laying around.
