- Kia Ceed 2 2010 steering have been knocking for a bit and my friend came to me asking for help. I said yeah lets take it apart and see what we can do. After initial diagnosis i found out that the rubber damper between the motor and column is damaged and needs changing so here is video how i did it.
I would love to hear your opinion on this part and if there are any other cars that have same or similar problem.
if you liked the video please share, like and subscribe. To you its only few clicks and to me it means a lot.!
Thanks for watching and see you next time.!

Ty for the help
If you use a marker and mark the position of the column, you cant miss
Correct.
Never usually comment on videos but had to say thankyou for a quality video that has helped me massively especially with the link for part as main dealer when eventually found the part wouldn't sell me it due to been an active warranty part on newer models...bif respect and thanks again
I'm happy i could help. Perhaps check my other clips maybe you will find something else interesting.
Thank you for your comment!

You can do this without removing the whole column from the car. did mine a couple of weeks ago. About an hour to do in the dark, by torchlight. You just need small tools and nimble fingers.
Yeah probably you can. I did it that way to illustrate how to change the cupping. Easier with the camera if the whole thing is out. 📷👍
Hi - quick question. Why do you take off the bolt at 4:30? I didn't loosen that bolt but my steering column still came out. I'm struggling to get it back onto the car. I'm guessing it's because I haven't touched that bolt?
Hi mate, yes you have to loosen that bolt because the splines are gripping tightly to the shaft. Imagine C-clamp. With bolt across it opens up to give u more space to install the shaft. Also it has to be perfectly straight otherwise won't go in. Lube it up too with like wd40. Regards. L. O. O
Very helpfull, i have this problem right now and everything about the EPS light and clucnking noises matched your video, what is the part called that you replaced ?
Rubber damper or something like that. Link in description i think its still working.
No need to remove whole steering column from car 😎
I did to help people see what's going on 😉
Yep. did mine a couple of weeks ago. About an hour to do in the dark, by torchlight. You just need small tools and nimble fingers.
Awesome
I have a kia pro ceed 61 plate I have simmilar issue. Right when the steering wheel is in its straight centre position it makes a nocking noise when the car is stationary . I've noticed it gets worse in time. Or if I'm driving and if I move the steering wheel fast it does the same noise when the steering wheel is just of centre on either side. .
I taken it to my local garage they said they applied Grease they said but of it still acts up to take it back for further investigation. The greese did fix it temporarily well atleast bodged it but it was fine for a while.
I recently had it into another small independent mechanic and he can't even identity the problem.
You got any thoughts, it does seem simmilar to the knocking you mentioned.
Shame caues the rest of my car is faultless and would have no issues keeping few more years potentially, just had it's engine test and all fine and 4 new brake rotors and two new calipers. , but the steering is really bothering me
I can change a wheel but that's about it. Cars probably worth about 1500 tops so probably jsut need to live with it. Thanks for the video 👌👍
Hi mate, thanks for asking.
In my opinion you have same issue I had on my clip. 2 metal gears with rubber Damper in the middle just wears out. All you need to do is just get someone to take it apart and change it should sort the problem.
Let me know how you get on.
👍👌
@@DankosDIY thank you buddy I really appreciate you getting back to me. Your not near Durham by any chance 🙏😂. I will do mate, mechanic has said it shouldn't be dangerous or anything so be okay to drive for now. I'll let you know when I eventually get it back to the garage 👍.
Hi - Where can I buy this "STEERING COUPLER" in U.K? Also, what is the temporary Fix? Please reply.
Hi, link for the part is in description of the video and the temp fix was piece of hard rubber from anti roll bar bush. I have cut the rubber to fit inside the gear.
Hello
thanks for the video ..
I did a similar job to my KIA FORTE but I think that when I returned the column I miss placed the rod so an offset happened in my steering wheel, in this case, shall I do the normal wheel alignment or I should reinstall the column again?
Good question i would reinstall the shaft. If the tracking was ok and everything else then just get the splines adjusted on the shaft and job done. 👍
What was the temporary fix, will get round to doing it properly next few weeks
Temp fix was same like the new part. Simply i cut star shape out of anti roll bar rubber coz its thick and i wedged it there between motor and rack. It did work and probably would still be ok but thought lets get it right. Regards.
Top man
Hey. Do you know if the motor can be open? It makes a strange noise. Maybe a bad bearing or the brushes. Thank you!
I think it can. Obviously its not something i would recommend but definitely i personally would try. In my car i didnt need to but if you have to try. Let me know how u got on. 👌
Whitch symptoms did you have.
Vibbrations in higspeed ?.
Shacking steering wheel when you brake hard ???.
Shaking steering when braking is the brake disc issue.
I had kicking when moving steering left right like on video.
@@DankosDIY okej.
Hello,
I changed my steering rack and then tracking done but after tracking when i fully turn the steering left my tyre is touching something and its happening every time after even adjustment, any solution please thanks in advance
First check if wheels turn left and right same amount of turns if not the rack is not attached to the column in right place.
Mate can you explain how you got the blue rod part of the column to go into where it needs to go when you put it back in the car?? I’ve been trying for hours but it’s just so hard to do it and doesn’t go in no matter which way I turn the wheel.
It has to be perfectly straight other wise will never go in.
What second of the movie?
Do u have a link / part number for this part please
In the description mate.
Can I change my kia ceed 2010 1.6 engine to another 140 hp engine ??
I guess so. As long as this engine existed in this model then i think yes.
Can i have the link that you get the coupler please
Ill try to find it.
Plase the link for ther coupler
Link in description lads.
