I cannot abide Leeds United fans since as a 13year old at an away match , a horrible gang of Leeds lads whipped my Liverpool scarf from my neck and ran off ..I ran after them until they finally ran into a gent's toilets , my mother had been running after me and just caught the collar of my coat as I was about to follow them in. ."No you do not! The coach is going to be going home without us!" "I don't care how much you love the bloody scarf, no daughter of mine is following a gang of lads into the gent's !!" I am now 67 years old... You need to watch a video of fan parks when England scores a goal and watch the beer go flying. It's brilliant.
they used to be great, but now if you watch the fan zones on tv, half the people there are just holding onto a half pint, watching the camera out of the corner of their eye, hoping for their chance to chuck that half pint if we score and get on camera. Its become very staged and lost the spontaneity now.

@@lordsoros627 people tried to explain that they weren't crusaders and that its just the paying homage to saint George, but they didn't care, the fans weren't arrested but were told they cant come into the stadium till they take the costumes off.
Qatar shouldn't have and without open bribery wouldn't have gotten the the world cup because they are frankly backwards with some of their laws

I just love your reaction to some of the chants and the way you enjoy them, I have lived in the US for twenty years now and still miss the big games. My son in law and step son both laugh at some of the chants but sometimes don’t realize how cutting they can be.
Most are just for a laugh but some are fighting chants, so be warned.

Most football chants take traditional songs and change the lyrics. Ten German Bombers was originally Ten Green Bottles.
Tartan is the check-pattern cloth (Americans might call it plaid, but it's not quite the same thing) used to make kilts etc, predominantly is Scotland, but also parts of Ireland.
Thus the Tartan Army is the Scottish supporters.
The English were taking the piss out of the Scots, who had failed to qualify for the tournament being hosted in Russia (I think it was the 2018 World Cup).
Hi mate, the English football season normally starts in early-mid August and finishes end of April/start of May... There might be internationals in the meantime but to watch club football you'd need to come to the uk between these times

Also, the best way to find your Team is to watch several games over the season and choose the Team that excites you the most but remember... Loyalty is EVERYTHING - even when the results aren't going your way. You mention the difference between US chants and England's, to find out where the passion in England comes from, research English Football fans from the 70's & 80's and and learn about the Hooligan element that eventually got English Clubs banned from European competitions for best part of 10 years - a shameful period for England but you will certainly understand the Fans a whole lot better. English Football cleaned it's act up but the Hooligan element had already been exported into Europe by then and has since morphed into the "Ultra's" of each Team (hardcore fans) I'll try and post some links for you or search criterion for you to have a look at !!! Actually, the League Cup final is in February or March, the FA Cup Final is now held before the end of the Premier League season, which means it is not the highlight of the season end anymore. Shame on the FA
Standard Premier League Football usually runs from August to May. This year is a bit different because of the WC. So they have had a break from Nov to Dec and are back on Boxing Day. 2022/2023 season set to end 28 May 2023.

For them England in London, them crowds crowds they are from major tournaments on even years as they are summer events such as the World Cup (too hot this year for their summer, that’s why it’s in winter this year). The domestic football season runs from mid August to mid May…then we have international tournaments (well normally…except this year) in the summer every other year…there are no American style playoffs though…if you win the league after playing everyone twice, you win the league

The English Football regular season is usually August - May but preseason matches are throughout July. There is usually a cluster of England Games in June, The trick is to be either at Wimbledon or Glastonbury when England are playing. From what I have heard the more lively crowds are now in the National League. BUT..until the Glazier Family sell Manchester United surely that is your team.

I'm an Everton fan despite the fact it can be rather soul-destroying. The team has an illustrious history but hasn't been doing well in the last few years. Everton may end up fighting relegation again but the passion from the fans is always there. Last season we desperately needed a win to avoid relegation and the fans stepped up to cheer the team on by meeting the player's coach with a sea of blue smoke. This is real passion:

Are you sure your Mam or Dad are not English? My wife is American, the first game I ever took was England v Turkey at Sunderland. She was blown away by the songs and Atmosphere. Even in town before the game and just as we set foot inside the ground, I big fight broke out between Leeds, Newcastle and Sunderland fans, if I remember right.

Tartan is Scottish. I think Scottish clans have unique patterns. The atmosphere at any match is epic. Away days are always better because there is less of your own fans so you have shout louder. If you ever get to England try out a few stadiums they vary.
