Tim Akerman knew floor he toured with his band when floor was touring ( local festivals and stuff ) with her early bands ....Henk knew Of floor as he is older and more worldly ......she was UNKNOWN to the others on the show and to most of the Nederlands. The basis of the show is they get popular singers of various styles ...feature one each episode and have the other sing something meaningful ...either something that the feature has written or performed kind of as a Tribute ....to the featured artist. Emma Hesters (sp) is the young girl featured in this episode and floor chose an iconic song and tried to give it her touch and to show that she could fit in to this other style ..and also I think as advice/warning/motherly love kind of talk to a new musician just starting out on this journey/life. Floor was the very first performance of the season and the feature was for Henk an acclaimed older and well accomished musical theater and opera performer ( lead role in Phantom and Les Miserabe) ....she went with full leather metal look and an operetta from Merry Widows ( a song Henks mother used to sing when he was a child) and it was amazing ....kind of "hello My name is Floor and whatever you were thinking is wrong ."
I am from the Netherlands and it is true that she was not wellknown here, but the few metalheads here (like me) have known her and knew that she is "the one" that can compete with any singer. I myself discovered her in 2002 or 2003 when she was 21 or 22. She has been in her band "After Forever" since she was 16 years old.

@SueSueandthewolfman Please start with 'Monolith Of Doubt', it shows how powerful Floor already was at age 21 and it's a true After Forever classic. 'Who wants to live forever' is a bit strange as a recommendation since that is not an After Forever song but a Queen cover. I would advice to do the After Forever and Revamp suggestions first.
The way it was explained to me was that there is a different kind of metal in the different European countries. The finish style was different than the Dutch one so it was just not as available. Still, no one doubts that the Dutch can headbang! :)
This version and the version with Tim were excellent for very different reasons. This entire season of Beste Zangers was so much fun, check out some more and enjoy some excellent diverse artists.
Floor was always far away from mainstream, plus Nightwish isn't a Dutch band, that's why hardly anyone in the Netherlands (outside the metal scene) knew her. The "Vielja Lied", an opera song, was the first song she performed in this show and the whole country was blown away. Who the hell is this woman and where has she been!
The first show is dedicated to Henk Poort who Floor saw as a young girl in Phantom and that was why she joined the show. She dressed very metal for the first show and hardly anyone knew her. My recommendation, which you'll ENJOY, is to watch the remaining episodes of Beste Zangers in order after this. The first song was sung to Henk Poort called "Villa Lied" (Leed)
Better than the original. Floor can sing in 8 different languages and have conversations in 4 or 5 languages. So the talent doesn't end with singing. In this show she sings in I think 4 or 5 languages. Spanish, Dutch, German, English and I believe another slang.

Amazing performance and super enjoyable to boot. The opening performance of the show and everyone's introduction to floor. The video is worthwhile just for the facial expressions of all the other participants.... please try to get the version with the commentary from the other people ..and the short intro they give floor.
I'm so glad you reacted to both, as they are both worthy of a reaction. Just a suggestion if you want to react to more from Beste Zangers, everything Floor sings is dynamite of course, but there are some other stunning performances. Henk and Emma do one of my favorite duets titled "Vivo Per Lei", it's simply gorgeous. Also, Henk sings "Sound Of Silence" to Floor, which is also my favorite version to date. Honestly though, all the singers are worth taking a look at. ❤
That is how Floor puts emotional impact into a song. Floor sings this song one whole step higher than the original Lady Gaga version. The Dutch radio exposure is very pop oriented. Metal is popular, but only in the cultural underground with the metalhead kids. Beste Zangers is a wonderful show. All of Floors songs are amazing. I am glad you guys liked it, and Floor blows all these artists away every time. She does the same thing in Germany 2022 on Sing Meinen Song, all the other artists on both shows are pop artists, and have no clue how great Floor is until she starts singing.

It’s a good thing Lady Gaga has a large back catalog of songs…she can afford to lose one. And this one belongs to Floor, now. Just amazingly beautiful and moving. The young lady in the red dress is Emma Heesters…I would recommend checking out her Beste Zangers performance of Strong. That’s a song that Floor wrote back in her After Forever days for her mom. Emma’s performance was so beautiful it moved Floor to tears. I also recommend Floor’s duet with Henk Poort…the older gentleman in the audience…of The Phantom of the Opera. And while I’m at it…Henk’s performance of The Sound of Silence, which he sang for Floor.
You liked this straight away, I like to imagine being on one of those sofas! Floor just feet away on the carpet. The girl on the middle sofa, Emma, was amazed by Floor, not knowing what she would do, expecting a Metal singer, then this lovely soft singing floats across the room, washing over her. This whole show is well worth watching, with English subtitles from Jennie Zelf, for the banter before and after. Interesting about zones of music making, like a speaking accent?
Wow saw this was posted 41 seconds ago, never caught your reaction that fast ;-) And I think this is better than Lady Gaga's version, for a symphonic metal band vocalist Floor can add a lot of feelings and empathy to a song. Thanks to Beste Zangers I discovered Floor and Nightwish, and then Ayreon and Epica and so on. Well, metal is not much on the radio and I do not listen often to music on the radio - this was a perfect introduction for me to that music (I am from Amsterdam, and mostly love Yes, Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Genesis, and now Nightwish and Auri too).

We were interested tonight we spy a friend in St. Louis and they have just completely filled a hole that I’ve had for years in music. I still listen to yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis et Al. I noticed the Wolfman referred to being interested in new singers and talent - take a look at Samantha Steenwyjk and Emma Heesters when you get an opportunity. Floor sung 'Mama' (Samantha's song) to Samantha (always makes my Wife cry) . And Samantha sung Nightwish's 'Our Decades in the Sun' for Floor (which I don't think Nightwish have ever performed live?!). Emma performed Floor's song 'Strong' which turned out to be very emotional for them both. Emma also has a lovely duet with Henk called 'Vivo per Lei' which is a sublime performance in it's beauty - by Andrea Bocelli. Anyway that's a little about the other 2 ladies in this series. dats it. this video over 2 years ago popped up on u tube and being a classic rocker was going to ignore it.but my admiration for tall dark hair beauties got the best of me and i hit play.thank god i did because this led me into finding the greatest band of all time NIGHTWISH
It's such a shame our ultra, ultra, ultra boring Dutch radio/tv never played 'my' music because Floor was already 'famous' in the metal scene. Metal wasn't allowed on our 'diverse' radio. One of the reasons they are more or less extinct now. Great reaction my friends and cheers from tha Low Countries.
My compatriot is a true phenomena. If she hadn't participated in that programm she still would be unknown to me...and to so many other Dutch people.....and Nightwish masterpieces Ghost love score, poet and the pendulum and some other great songs would be unknown to me too.
All performances from Floor in that show were amazing and I hope you will react to all of them. Start with Viljalied then. It was her first performance in that setting so the reaction of the others to the "unknown" Floor are great to see. Well I think that you did it the right way around, saving the best for later :) Floor doing her thang, starting off slowly, "Tell me something, girl" directed at Emma the girl in the red sequinned dress, on the centre sofa. (Can you imagine being sung to by Floor?) The Floor soars away, gently floating down again, mesmerising. Yes, the whole package. The Netherlands give the impression of being very "regular" in their ways, "Metal Music" is normally frowned upon, as most of the bands have such offensive names.
I think you should take a look on the first episode of beste zangers '19 😄 Notice the other musicians as Floor takes the scene as the first, noone knew much of her, and she had just been telling them about her time with NW 🤗 And she chose Vilja lied from the opera Merry widow. Beste zangers is a great show the season with Floor jansen was the best in a long long time. you should do all episodes and songs . as there is a version of Hotel california by ralf sanchez in floors episode ( each singer has a day when all other singers bring tribute to them with the songs of the singer in question or songs that means the most to them ) and a sound of silence version by henk poort. Realy realy a ton of good songs and music . for by and of all these singers.
This show are running i lots of different countries in Europe (Floor has just participated in the German version Sing meinen song) - it is 6 singers celebrating each others by singing own versions of the person in the couch' s songs - or his / hers favorite song (person of the night). Henk Port was the famous one, a very well-known opera singer in all of Europe - a phenomenal singer - and the old master walking around joking all the time. None of the others knew of Floor, except Tim Akerman, who knew her from festivals back in the days. On the first day, Henk had been walking around, teasing the others of how he was looking forward to see them do some opera, because he was in the couch.... Floor open the first night - first song - Vilja Lied (german opera song Henk's mother used to sing for him as a lullaby) The others faces are priceless - Henk became silent - Floor raised the barr so high, that the others had to perform better than they had ever done before (and they did!!) - this whole 2019 Beste Zangers shows were/ are the best ever. The Netherlands went bananas - Henk and Floor joined forces afterwards and are still working together - and Floor started her solo career as a side project (Nightwish are her no. 1) If I recall right, Floor performed in 5 different languages during the show!! Henk Port forgot everything about being an opera singer and made a Disturbed version of Sound of Silence for Floor - a version that are equal if not better than Disturbed's version!!!. Floor is using the same band from Beste Zangers in her solo shows - and in her festival (like Pink Pop) performances. Long talk just to say that this version of Shallow - in my opinion - is the strongest one ever made. No one can tell a story like Floor!! And Sue didn't really comment - did you feel it and like Floor's version?
Thanks for jumping on to the Floor wagon so fast. Now, if you can, please do every other solo she does on Beste Zangers 2019 plus Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort next. You will not be disappointed.
I'm from the Netherlands, and there's a real separation between metal and all the other music. It isn't played on the radio or TV, it isn't featured on soundtracks or played in stores. The only way to discover metal is to go actively searching for it or be introduced to it. There's real stigma to metal over here, usually when you tell people you listen to metal, they make a face like they smelled something unpleasant. There's a real separation between metal and other music, even rock. But I must say I've also never heard metal being played mainstream when I visited another country, except maybe Rammstein. Europe, except the Nordic countries, are much more focused on EDM-like music.
The first time we saw the Tim Akkerman duet version... and the music started to build for the last chorus... and Floor started to stand up... we all thought, "Oh no! Oh no! She's about to go full Nightwish on him! She gonna hurt the poor boy!! " But she dialed down the full metal jacket just a bit and let him live! 🤣
Good you listened also to this version , I remember the exitment after here in the Netherlands The following day she reached nr. 1 in the charts with this version of Shallow . Isn’t Floor fantastic? - oh and Wolfman, Floor didn’t sneak up behind you in this one- this time it was Emppu in his dirty old Y fronts! Did you also know that Floor has a wolf tattooed behind her right ear and a dog behind her left ear? - it represents the two sides to her life - the wolf being the hunter and representative of her performing and being out on the road, whilst the dog represents her domestic home life. Yes Beste Zangers was great. Floor was the best hands down but there were some stellar performances by the others too
Thanks for doing this guys. Such an amazing performance and yes SueSue, I tear up every time I hear this. So beautiful and vulnerable. Lady Gaga's version is more like desperate passion or an almost unhealthy need for the person she is singing about. Floor's version brings this sweet emotional connection with the person she love and even if the love doesn't last she is cherishing and appreciating her love in the moment. If you want to watch the whole 2019 season there are videos with english subtitles that our europrean friends have done for us. Her duet with Henk Poort of the Phantom of the Opera is the song your are thinking of. Floor and Henk have great chemistry and Floor does a little musical theater with her movements while Henk sings. She turns from him while he sings "and though you turn from me and glance behind" and then Floor glances back with a very flirtatious look on her face. She is totally in character the whole song. Henk has a little surprise for Floor in one section that she totally digs and rocks out to. Vilja Lied is great performance as well as it was the first song she sung on the show and really blew everyone away with her talent.
Metal is not mainstream in the Netherlands most of the underground scene knew her but not the big crowd, Nightwish is a finish band and in Finland metal is main stream and you can hear them on the radio over there, the hardest thing i've heard here was Metallica with enter sandman and nothing else matters that's why most people including me never heard of her but after beste zangers she blew everybody away and the dutchies heard that she was the vocalist of Nightwish and as a metalhead i was hooked when i've heard Gohst love score for the first time....in my opinion she is the best female vocalist in the world ever, every vocalist sing what they can sing, Floor sings what she wants to sing, on the dutch radio she even sings a peace out of a phone book and that even sounds great

The Netherlands is not a big country, but we have the biggest traffic jams. In theorie you can travel from north to south in 5 hours but in reality it takes more dan 12 hours :) Floor is well known in het country as a singer but not to the average public although she is one of the best female singers in the world.
Great Reaction! I don't know how Floor sings so softly and still has vibrato in her voice. You need to check out the first song on the first night of this show. Floor was the first singer, singing a song called Vilja Lied to Henk Poort in German. But don't use AVROTOS's video. There are videos on here that show them sitting around talking before Floor gets up to sing and they talk about why she is not known in The Netherlands. One of them is on a channel called Floor op TV. The video is titled "Floor Jansen - Viljja Lied (2019) + intro and outro (With eng subtitles)"
You see how this version is more personal. It was Emma's turn for the performers to sing too and this song is one of Emma's favorites. I like how it's slower and how Floor makes it her own.

Def Leppard-English were big over your side of the pond and it took the drummer to lose his arm and Leppard to release thei 4th album before they were even heard of in their own country 4 yrs after the 3rd album
The Netherlands is and isn't a Metal country. There's a lot going on when it comes to Metal. There's bands like Epica and Within Temptation. Also Carach Angren and many more. However, it's shunned by the media in the Netherlands. So Floor broke that open a bit with her performances on Beste Zangers. Now Nightwish has two sold out shows in a Stadium in Amsterdam and they just played Pink pop (as you know), which is also one of the biggest festivals in the Netherlands. The collab of Henk and Floor was not so much a surprise but they really get into their roles. It's the song Phantom of the Opera indeed.
There are no wrong ones. For me both versions are good, each one of them brings something different to the song. The version with Tim Akerman is more like the original because this song was thought for a duet. The solo version is more personal and intimate.
By all means explore Beste Zangers more, there are some nice surprises in this show. Henk Poort and Emma Heesters, Samantha,in fact all of them hold some surprises for you.

Don't apologise, there's no such thing as the wrong version! It's good you did both and I hadn't seen the first one before. I think even here (England) Floor is not widely known. Many people dismiss metal music as angry hairy men and so don't investigate it.
Well, I said Lady Gaga had to relinquish ownership when Floor did this. I stand by that, good as the version with Tim is. Of course, you can't equate a country with a state. For one things most of the countries use different languages and have their own cultures. We also have borders and hence passports, airport security if you're flying etc. So a short trip to another country could involve 90 mins at an airport each way. We also pay a lot more for fuel - a gallon (Imperial not US) in Britain is around £10 or $12

Floor was know by the metal public in The Netherlands, but not by the public of the mainstream tv and radio stations, that did change after this tv show. And other metal bands in the Netherlands became more know also like Epica, not to forget You Tube it also made them more know on the whole world I guess. Nightwish is also more know in The Netherlands know, they never had performed on PinkPop now the have. By the way in twelve hours (driving true Germany and Switzerland I am in Tuscany Italy, relaxing by the villa I rented. In 25 hours your in Finland, Helsinki or Russia Moskou...al by car of coarse :)
If someone from Boston starts playing country music and joins a band in Tennessee they might also not be so well known in Massachusetts. Finland is not a nextdoor country to the Netherlands and we have more quite well known symphonic metal bands in the Netherlands as wel (like Withing Temptation and Epica)
Perfect example of not knowing great people from your country is Kelly Slater. Probably the greatest athlete ever in any sport. No one knows who he is in the US.
You didn’t do anything wrong! This is just a very different version and they are both very good for different reasons. I believe there are versions of the program with English subtitles so maybe if you are interested to view each episode then you will get the know all about the people. They give background information and everyone comments on each performance witch is very nice to watch. You will also love the other artists I’m sure. And the band is great. Fun fact, because of this show Floor was inspired to do solo music and because she’s got to know this band during the show, she now uses them with her solo shows like PinkPop. The biggest issue here is, that The Dutch people solely were listening to Dance/Pop music. Hence all the big shot DJ's like DJ Tiesto and Armin van Buuren. The Dutch people were never exposed to any other music then that kind of stuff. For all they knew, to them that's mainstream music, and "Metal", never fit into that picture. Their representation of metal music always has been screaming men and ripping guitars. They didn't know any better. Until Floor, and Nightwish showed them a different side of metal. And it's ironic, Armin van buuren reprisents a type of dance music, called "Trance", wich is a highly melodic/symphonic driven by a solid beat kind of music, and there's a small step to symphonic metal, which has the exact same melodic features, although more to the classical side of things. I'm a 52 yr. old Dutch citizen , and my preferable music has been, and always will be; no: 1. Queen, and now I'm struggling, I used to say; all these dance DJ's, but lately Nightwish and in particular Floor, and her versatilty has won me over.

Tim Akerman knew floor he toured with his band when floor was touring ( local festivals and stuff ) with her early bands ....Henk knew Of floor as he is older and more worldly ......she was UNKNOWN to the others on the show and to most of the Nederlands. The basis of the show is they get popular singers of various styles ...feature one each episode and have the other sing something meaningful ...either something that the feature has written or performed kind of as a Tribute ....to the featured artist. Emma Hesters (sp) is the young girl featured in this episode and floor chose an iconic song and tried to give it her touch and to show that she could fit in to this other style ..and also I think as advice/warning/motherly love kind of talk to a new musician just starting out on this journey/life. Floor was the very first performance of the season and the feature was for Henk an acclaimed older and well accomished musical theater and opera performer ( lead role in Phantom and Les Miserabe) ....she went with full leather metal look and an operetta from Merry Widows ( a song Henks mother used to sing when he was a child) and it was amazing ....kind of "hello My name is Floor and whatever you were thinking is wrong ."
Everyone in that room knew they were in the presence of greatness.
I am from the Netherlands and it is true that she was not wellknown here, but the few metalheads here (like me) have known her and knew that she is "the one" that can compete with any singer. I myself discovered her in 2002 or 2003 when she was 21 or 22. She has been in her band "After Forever" since she was 16 years old.

@SueSueandthewolfman Please start with 'Monolith Of Doubt', it shows how powerful Floor already was at age 21 and it's a true After Forever classic. 'Who wants to live forever' is a bit strange as a recommendation since that is not an After Forever song but a Queen cover. I would advice to do the After Forever and Revamp suggestions first.
The way it was explained to me was that there is a different kind of metal in the different European countries. The finish style was different than the Dutch one so it was just not as available. Still, no one doubts that the Dutch can headbang! :)
Floor is my favorite singer for any form of music. Her tone and timbre never disappoint.

Floor was always far away from mainstream, plus Nightwish isn't a Dutch band, that's why hardly anyone in the Netherlands (outside the metal scene) knew her. The "Vielja Lied", an opera song, was the first song she performed in this show and the whole country was blown away. Who the hell is this woman and where has she been!
The first show is dedicated to Henk Poort who Floor saw as a young girl in Phantom and that was why she joined the show. She dressed very metal for the first show and hardly anyone knew her. Floor can sing in 8 different languages and have conversations in 4 or 5 languages. So the talent doesn't end with singing.
In this show she sings in I think 4 or 5 languages. Spanish, Dutch, German, English and I believe another slang.
Floor speaks Dutch, English, German, Finnish and Swedish. She does not know Spanish.
She can do Finnish and Swedish too :). But for this song, better than the original

I'm so glad you reacted to both, as they are both worthy of a reaction. Just a suggestion if you want to react to more from Beste Zangers, everything Floor sings is dynamite of course, but there are some other stunning performances. Henk and Emma do one of my favorite duets titled "Vivo Per Lei", it's simply gorgeous. Also, Henk sings "Sound Of Silence" to Floor, which is also my favorite version to date. Honestly though, all the singers are worth taking a look at. ❤
That is how Floor puts emotional impact into a song. Floor sings this song one whole step higher than the original Lady Gaga version. The Dutch radio exposure is very pop oriented. Metal is popular, but only in the cultural underground with the metalhead kids.
Beste Zangers is a wonderful show. All of Floors songs are amazing. However, I would also suggest checking out Henk & Emma Heesters duet of Andre Bocelli's "Vivo Per Lei". It is stunningly beautiful.

It’s a good thing Lady Gaga has a large back catalog of songs…she can afford to lose one. And this one belongs to Floor, now. Just amazingly beautiful and moving. The young lady in the red dress is Emma Heesters…I would recommend checking out her Beste Zangers performance of Strong. That’s a song that Floor wrote back in her After Forever days for her mom. Emma’s performance was so beautiful it moved Floor to tears. I also recommend Floor’s duet with Henk Poort…the older gentleman in the audience…of The Phantom of the Opera. And while I’m at it…Henk’s performance of The Sound of Silence, which he sang for Floor.

Wow saw this was posted 41 seconds ago, never caught your reaction that fast ;-) And I think this is better than Lady Gaga's version, for a symphonic metal band vocalist Floor can add a lot of feelings and empathy to a song. Thanks to Beste Zangers I discovered Floor and Nightwish, and then Ayreon and Epica and so on. Well, metal is not much on the radio and I do not listen often to music on the radio - this was a perfect introduction for me to that music (I am from Amsterdam, and mostly love Yes, Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Genesis, and now Nightwish and Auri too).

We were interested tonight we spy a friend in St. Louis and they have just completely filled a hole that I’ve had for years in music. I still listen to yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis et Al.

Through them I only got to know Nightwish at the age of 10 in Wacken. I noticed the Wolfman referred to being interested in new singers and talent - take a look at Samantha Steenwyjk and Emma Heesters when you get an opportunity. Floor sung 'Mama' (Samantha's song) to Samantha (always makes my Wife cry) . And Samantha sung Nightwish's 'Our Decades in the Sun' for Floor (which I don't think Nightwish have ever performed live?!). Emma performed Floor's song 'Strong' which turned out to be very emotional for them both. Emma also has a lovely duet with Henk called 'Vivo per Lei' which is a sublime performance in it's beauty - by Andrea Bocelli. Anyway that's a little about the other 2 ladies in this series. It's such a shame our ultra, ultra, ultra boring Dutch radio/tv never played 'my' music because Floor was already 'famous' in the metal scene. Metal wasn't allowed on our 'diverse' radio. One of the reasons they are more or less extinct now.

My compatriot is a true phenomena. If she hadn't participated in that programm she still would be unknown to me...and to so many other Dutch people.....and Nightwish masterpieces Ghost love score, poet and the pendulum and some other great songs would be unknown to me too.
All performances from Floor in that show were amazing and I hope you will react to all of them. Start with Viljalied then. It was her first performance in that setting so the reaction of the others to the "unknown" Floor are great to see.

Beste zangers is a great show the season with Floor jansen was the best in a long long time. you should do all episodes and songs . as there is a version of Hotel california by ralf sanchez in floors episode ( each singer has a day when all other singers bring tribute to them with the songs of the singer in question or songs that means the most to them ) and a sound of silence version by henk poort.
Realy realy a ton of good songs and music . for by and of all these singers.
And she did this sitting down, which compresses the diaphragm. Amazing!

This show are running i lots of different countries in Europe (Floor has just participated in the German version Sing meinen song) - it is 6 singers celebrating each others by singing own versions of the person in the couch' s songs - or his / hers favorite song (person of the night).
Henk Port was the famous one, a very well-known opera singer in all of Europe - a phenomenal singer - and the old master walking around joking all the time.
None of the others knew of Floor, except Tim Akerman, who knew her from festivals back in the days.
On the first day, Henk had been walking around, teasing the others of how he was looking forward to see them do some opera, because he was in the couch....
Floor open the first night - first song - Vilja Lied (german opera song Henk's mother used to sing for him as a lullaby)
The others faces are priceless - Henk became silent - Floor raised the barr so high, that the others had to perform better than they had ever done before (and they did!!) - this whole 2019 Beste Zangers shows were/ are the best ever. The Netherlands went bananas - Henk and Floor joined forces afterwards and are still working together - and Floor started her solo career as a side project (Nightwish are her no. 1)
If I recall right, Floor performed in 5 different languages during the show!!
Henk Port forgot everything about being an opera singer and made a Disturbed version of Sound of Silence for Floor - a version that are equal if not better than Disturbed's version!!!.
Floor is using the same band from Beste Zangers in her solo shows - and in her festival (like Pink Pop) performances.
Long talk just to say that this version of Shallow - in my opinion - is the strongest one ever made. No one can tell a story like Floor!!

I'm from the Netherlands, and there's a real separation between metal and all the other music. It isn't played on the radio or TV, it isn't featured on soundtracks or played in stores.
The only way to discover metal is to go actively searching for it or be introduced to it.
There's real stigma to metal over here, usually when you tell people you listen to metal, they make a face like they smelled something unpleasant.

But I must say I've also never heard metal being played mainstream when I visited another country, except maybe Rammstein.
Europe, except the Nordic countries, are much more focused on EDM-like music.
The first time we saw the Tim Akkerman duet version... and the music started to build for the last chorus... and Floor started to stand up... we all thought, "Oh no! Oh no! She's about to go full Nightwish on him! She gonna hurt the poor boy!! " But she dialed down the full metal jacket just a bit and let him live! 🤣

The following day she reached nr. 1 in the charts with this version of Shallow .

Did you also know that Floor has a wolf tattooed behind her right ear and a dog behind her left ear? - it represents the two sides to her life - the wolf being the hunter and representative of her performing and being out on the road, whilst the dog represents her domestic home life.

Thanks for doing this guys. Such an amazing performance and yes SueSue, I tear up every time I hear this. So beautiful and vulnerable. Lady Gaga's version is more like desperate passion or an almost unhealthy need for the person she is singing about. Floor's version brings this sweet emotional connection with the person she love and even if the love doesn't last she is cherishing and appreciating her love in the moment. If you want to watch the whole 2019 season there are videos with english subtitles that our europrean friends have done for us. Her duet with Henk Poort of the Phantom of the Opera is the song your are thinking of. Floor and Henk have great chemistry and Floor does a little musical theater with her movements while Henk sings. She turns from him while he sings "and though you turn from me and glance behind" and then Floor glances back with a very flirtatious look on her face. She is totally in character the whole song. Henk has a little surprise for Floor in one section that she totally digs and rocks out to. Vilja Lied is great performance as well as it was the first song she sung on the show and really blew everyone away with her talent.

Metal is not mainstream in the Netherlands most of the underground scene knew her but not the big crowd, Nightwish is a finish band and in Finland metal is main stream and you can hear them on the radio over there, the hardest thing i've heard here was Metallica with enter sandman and nothing else matters that's why most people including me never heard of her but after beste zangers she blew everybody away and the dutchies heard that she was the vocalist of Nightwish and as a metalhead i was hooked when i've heard Gohst love score for the first time....in my opinion she is the best female vocalist in the world ever, every vocalist sing what they can sing, Floor sings what she wants to sing, on the dutch radio she even sings a peace out of a phone book and that even sounds great

You need to check out the first song on the first night of this show. Floor was the first singer, singing a song called Vilja Lied to Henk Poort in German. But don't use AVROTOS's video. There are videos on here that show them sitting around talking before Floor gets up to sing and they talk about why she is not known in The Netherlands. One of them is on a channel called Floor op TV. The video is titled "Floor Jansen - Viljja Lied (2019) + intro and outro (With eng subtitles)"
You see how this version is more personal. It was Emma's turn for the performers to sing too and this song is one of Emma's favorites. I like how it's slower and how Floor makes it her own.

Def Leppard-English were big over your side of the pond and it took the drummer to lose his arm and Leppard to release thei 4th album before they were even heard of in their own country 4 yrs after the 3rd album
The Netherlands is and isn't a Metal country. There's a lot going on when it comes to Metal. There's bands like Epica and Within Temptation. Also Carach Angren and many more. However, it's shunned by the media in the Netherlands. So Floor broke that open a bit with her performances on Beste Zangers. Now Nightwish has two sold out shows in a Stadium in Amsterdam and they just played Pink pop (as you know), which is also one of the biggest festivals in the Netherlands. The collab of Henk and Floor was not so much a surprise but they really get into their roles. It's the song Phantom of the Opera indeed.
There are no wrong ones. For me both versions are good, each one of them brings something different to the song. The version with Tim Akerman is more like the original because this song was thought for a duet. The solo version is more personal and intimate.
Don't know anything about the original version, but I'm sure it was very good. But this here version belongs in a Hall of Legends museum!
By all means explore Beste Zangers more, there are some nice surprises in this show.

Don't apologise, there's no such thing as the wrong version! It's good you did both and I hadn't seen the first one before. I think even here (England) Floor is not widely known. Many people dismiss metal music as angry hairy men and so don't investigate it.

Of course, you can't equate a country with a state. For one things most of the countries use different languages and have their own cultures.

Floor was know by the metal public in The Netherlands, but not by the public of the mainstream tv and radio stations, that did change after this tv show. And other metal bands in the Netherlands became more know also like Epica, not to forget You Tube it also made them more know on the whole world I guess. Nightwish is also more know in The Netherlands know, they never had performed on PinkPop now the have. By the way in twelve hours (driving true Germany and Switzerland I am in Tuscany Italy, relaxing by the villa I rented. In 25 hours your in Finland, Helsinki or Russia Moskou...al by car of coarse :)
If someone from Boston starts playing country music and joins a band in Tennessee they might also not be so well known in Massachusetts.
Finland is not a nextdoor country to the Netherlands and we have more quite well known symphonic metal bands in the Netherlands as wel (like Withing Temptation and Epica)
Perfect example of not knowing great people from your country is Kelly Slater. Probably the greatest athlete ever in any sport. No one knows who he is in the US.

You didn’t do anything wrong! This is just a very different version and they are both very good for different reasons. I believe there are versions of the program with English subtitles so maybe if you are interested to view each episode then you will get the know all about the people. They give background information and everyone comments on each performance witch is very nice to watch. You will also love the other artists I’m sure. And the band is great. Fun fact, because of this show Floor was inspired to do solo music and because she’s got to know this band during the show, she now uses them with her solo shows like PinkPop. The biggest issue here is, that The Dutch people solely were listening to Dance/Pop music. Hence all the big shot DJ's like DJ Tiesto and Armin van Buuren. The Dutch people were never exposed to any other music then that kind of stuff. For all they knew, to them that's mainstream music, and "Metal", never fit into that picture. Their representation of metal music always has been screaming men and ripping guitars. They didn't know any better. Until Floor, and Nightwish showed them a different side of metal. And it's ironic, Armin van buuren reprisents a type of dance music, called "Trance", wich is a highly melodic/symphonic driven by a solid beat kind of music, and there's a small step to symphonic metal, which has the exact same melodic features, although more to the classical side of things. I'm a 52 yr. old Dutch citizen , and my preferable music has been, and always will be; no: 1. Queen, and now I'm struggling, I used to say; all these dance DJ's, but lately Nightwish and in particular Floor, and her versatilty has won me over.
