    Once patched a Chevy cobalt oil pan with a beer can and some quick steel puddy. The patch job lasted longer than out marriage lol

    Love how they put that nice aluminum oil pan hanging below the core support, like it’s saying hit me , trash a 2,000 engine, I worked at a vw dealership in 03 , we would practically get one a week with a busted pan

      Yea I've never understood why they make the pan the lowesr point

    I would like to have a Volkswagen Beetle either a Classic or modern Beetle add factory steel wheels and paint them to match the color of the car

      did you see where a few folks attached the hubcap clips and old style vw chrome hubcaps, that's what I want to do when the wear out the new tires on my 06, find steel rims and attach hubcaps, via clips or weld in those bumps that hold the chrome disc on....find a 2.5L new beetle with 5 speed, automatics are problematic, and the 2.5 has a timing chain, not a belt that costs 650-850 to have changed@100K miles. Good luck !

    I take it the owner couldn't avoid the thing that did that, they would've had to have seen something that big.

    Is it worth spending twice as much on an oem lower oil pan vs aftermarket ( atp brand) on a 2012 wagon?

    • @Spyke383
      @Spyke383  4 роки тому +1

      Usually the aftermarket ones are the best way to go

    VW has very specific oils required in their engines. Be sure the oil meets it. Catastrophic failure can result from using the wrong oil.

    Looks like you need a special tool to get at the two or four bolts by the transmission. Can you use an L-type hex or do you need a long T-handle type. Or can you use a regular 10mm socket with a u-joint?

    Pan should be aluminum. See if the pieces you found in the pick up are magnetic or not?

    • @Spyke383
      @Spyke383  4 роки тому +4

      I didn't check. I'm thinking they were parts of damaged threads on the oil pan
