    I'm anticipating the guidelines on how run a war/siege battle. If there's one combat that's a mixed bag of results it's large-scale battles surrounding the party. Looking forward to when it drops

      @@B42UC4 Unfortunately it looks like that's the way they've been going since the Feywild adventure and prob even before.

    The battlefield dynamics are exactly what I need as my party heads into the second half of Tyranny of Dragons. I have been worried about how I'd handle the giant battle of the final chapter.

    I have mixed feeling about Hoard of the Dragon Queen 2.0.
    On the one hand, we already have a dragon themed adventure, on the other hand, it could have been better, and the game has changed a lot since then.
    Also is Heroes of Krynn a mass combat system??? Because we REALLY need that!

    • @leodouskyron5671
      @leodouskyron5671 2 роки тому +3

      RE Mass Combat system:
      It is a throwback to the original Dragonlance game. Two of the original Dragonlance modules (adventure campaigns were published in a series purchased pieces then) had them. DL 11 had the strategic game (with counters) and DL8 Dragons of war had the order of battle for “Battlesystem” (TSR’s mass combat game). (Best recollection)

      It’s not Hoard of the Dragon Queen 2.0. It’s very much it’s own classic setting.

      @@michaelhockman3420 FYI- Hoarde of the Dragon Queen was the knock off of ideas previously used in Dragonlance, IMO. Dragonlance was HUGE for multiple versions of the D&D game. It had it’s own publishing line run by the Hickmens.

      @@leodouskyron5671 yeah, I’m excited about the setting, but rumor is the setting is gonna be bare bones anyway. My only real criticism from my original comment is that we’ve already had a dragon focused adventure, this adventure doesn’t feel like it’s bringing that much to the table as far as premise based on what we know so far. It’s cool if you disagree, I hope I’m wrong tbh.

    Honestly, having a battlefield as a backdrop is one thing I never really feel like I nailed with a grid. It's only ever felt good when I go threatre of the mind. Looking forward to seeing wotc take a crack at it and see if I can take any inspiration from it. Cuz some of my groups strongly prefer grids.

    DnD the art for this book would have been 10x better if you had just used the work of Elmore and others that you already own.... these digital impressionistic pieces with low detail are pretty uninspiring... Excited for this when it was announced. However the lack of support for Spelljammer, and the bare-bones rule systems for running it. Along with WOTC trying to normalise early access and pre order bonuses for a book is making it hard to support these kind of business practices.

      I can reskin or kludge psionics pretty well, and races are easy to homebrew in a satisfying way. Defiling might require more thought, but that depends upon your players and their willingness to stay in character and not overindulge.
