Massive Front Yard CLEAN UP of abandoned 1908 farm / Satisfying TIMELAPSE PART 2
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- This time we spent almost 2 months to clean up the second part of the front yard. It was not easy at all, the whole yard was covered with mud, roots, branches, leaves… Nature definitely took advantage of the farm left abandoned for 10 years. But we managed it and very happy with the result. It is not yet finished-finished, but I can’t stop smiling when I see what we achieved so far. Episode #13. Enjoy! Be our guest, enjoy this video and don't forget to subscribe! :-)

Whomever cobbled that driveway was a master. The bricks are still almost perfectly level even after over 100 years.
As a professional paver this really warms my heart. I much too often get jobs like these where people just give up and orders it all to get digged away and replaced with concrete tiles :'( as much as I love the look of a new driveway made by our company - as much would I love to see the old guys' job get some well deserved love :)
what and amazing job this is! GOOD WORK!! Hats off from me and the guys that are watching the video after work in the office ;)
It is joyous that this old home has found a young family to bring it back to life and to provide warmth to another generation.
I was so surprised at the amount of cobblestone driveway there was. It had so much plant matter covering it. Good job.
@@LordSignur there always has to be one negative Nellie in the crowd. Congratulations.
@@LordSignur 🙄
@@LordSignur Clearly a real shortage of fertile soil around their house too... Go live in a tree ya bum.

What a find under all the debris! Love the cobblestone patio!
I bet the cat thought it was a lot more interesting before! May your family feel safe and secure in this beautiful house. Greetings from Berlin
Thank you very much!
He still has plenty of space for joyful amusements 😂
And now everyone will think you have loads of money, but in reality you’v worked hard to get what you have & made it into more than what it was. Funny how many people can’t understand that concept.
Great work family👍🏼❤️
It took you as long as it did because you also had other responsibilities. You are deliberate, you take care of not getting injured, this is the correct way to do things. I commend you. Thank you for sharing.
Wow, how lucky you are to have found all those cobbles, back breaking work clearing all that. Love the old postbox.. So cute.
Wow! Just amazing to see all that cobblestone appearing after decades of being hidden under dirt, well done!
Gorgeous find under the mud. Property looks like it can breathe! Stunning cobble stones
All the stuff you scraped up will make some great compost.
Or filler for low spots in the lawn/yard!
I think you were smart to do it at a speed that kept you from hurting yourself. It will look great in the end.
The cat is helping a lot!
And the kid is glued to his screen.
Is the son autistic? Looked like he had to have his shoes tied at the beginning of the video. If not you need to have his ass working and learning what you are doing and trying to accomplish. Screw that video game.
A catepilar would 😁✊
There's a cat?
You two are amazing 👏
At 70 I can handle a couple hours of gardening each day. That was my reason for starting a channel. Work smarter not harder! But you are probably 30 and full of energy. Now is your time to build your dream house. I'm enjoying just watching 👩🌾👍🌿
simply amazing watching all that beautiful old stonework being unearthed after decades of neglect. such an astounding transformation, thanks for sharing this!
Wow all of your hard work really paid off. Who would have ever guessed that all of the cobble stone was under all of the growth. Incredible!!!
Thank you for letting us be a part of this milestone in your lives.
Wow, could not imagine the cobblestones were under there. Amazing work. I bet a pressure washer would really transform them, and the house as well. :D
wow what a beautiful story your sharing thanks joe from California USA
A diamond in the rough, transforming into a gem, well done, but OH my back and legs!!!
The biggest richness is family and warm home.Nice job!Congrats👏
Who doesn't love a good cleanup! So satisfying to watch
Who would have known those beautiful cobblestones were under all that dirt and overgrowth. It is just stunning!!! The original owners must have been wealthy. You have bought a gem!
Thank you, Sammy 😊 the fence was added later, originally the house had the fence out of green bushes. So removing this one (rather shabby) and planting bushes we are going back to the very origins :-) But we are still thinking of keeping the posts and plant in between.
@@DeHoeveOldBelgianFarm well that makes sence. LOL I like the idea of keeping the posts to sort of brak up the bushes. I renovated a cottage back in my youth even putting on a new roof. It is work for the young not a old woman like me now.
Warm and sunny? Good thing you didn't wait for my definition of warm and sunny! Great job, beautiful farm!
Ленивыми Вас не назовёшь, теперь это большая редкость. Мои поздравления! Желаю долгой счастливой жизни в этом чудесном доме!
I can imagine driving through the shed in BF1 with a landship
Cherish it, the times with your family will be precious memories, the feeling of accomplishment will give you a glow whenever you see your front yard, congratulations.
That is amazing and speaks of the quality of the stones that were laid so long ago. A good foundation to build on !!
The house is screaming - THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LOVE!
this hurts my back just watching, it would take me so long to get it done that where I started would be covered over again.
LOL 😂
😂😂😂
What a transformation! Beautiful video, thank you.
This, is a family. Everyone should know what hard work feels like.
Except the kid that played games on his phone the whole video.
I dunno... seems like the kid got a free ride like no other! As well as the cat!
Those cobblestone are fantastic and I am so glad you left them there. They really are wonderful!
i admire you dedication and the respel way you treat nature and all plants, wonderful to see the transformation
I really enjoyed the old cobble stone revealed. I also enjoyed seeing the sun move through the shadows in the time-lapse portion of the video. Thank you!
A monumental amount of work with a spectacular outcome.... I can imagine the final product will be just as lovely as the home itself. Well done!
How fortunate to have the cobblestone drive!
Your family worked your tails off, but what a beautiful difference! God bless you all!
I look forward to more videos!
What a wonderful find under the soil. A lot of hard work but very satisfying xxx
Wow - now you know every stone by name and number - must be a project of love - please keep on
I have an old house and a huge garden, when I moved here I was 52 and loved working in the garden.now at 75 I am finding the garden too much for me.
It s beautiful that at 75 you use UA-cam and love your garden
It's hard going clearing all the brick paths when it's got years of soul and weeds intertwined, it looks amazing, well done to you both. 🌺💮🌸🌺💮🌸🌺
Isn't it amazing that all of the cobble stone was buried for all of those years. We're you surprised to find this?
Absolutely amazing! Who would have known that those beautiful cobblestones were underneath all that! 👍🥰
That is absolutely wonderfull, such hard working people.
Hello from SW Wisconsin! I wouldn't have even guessed there was cobblestone under that yard!
Great job and beautiful yard. One little secret - while using this saw just press down on a log, until the stopper rests on it. So this prevents you from holding the saw in the canopy and makes the process much easier.
Those cobblestones are a treasure from the past 👍🏼
Imagine what a pressure washer would do to the wood and brickwork of the house.
Especially the wood.
Enjoyed that.
unfortunately, with it being that old, its more like to damage the bricks and strip out the remaining pointing than make it look better >
@@aeilahpi1207 The wood would look awesome especially with a bit of boiled linseed oil and the pointing gets redone with a large cake icing bag/nozzle and lime mortar.
It'll look so nice. Lime mortar dries white.
Edit, the brickwork would be much better if it was dustless sandblasting (water and sand mix)
@@pikethree thats not concrete between the joints. its kinda mud - sandblasting will rinse and destroy it forever.
Great job clearing all the dirt off the cobblestones. Love that wheel barrow.. so shiny and cute with the yellow tire. Best of luck restoring the rest of the house.
Transformed with some weeks of hard work - well done...quite remarkable
What a transformation. You all did a fantastic job. My wife and I really miss Europe. We retired and settled down in New Caney, TX doing doberman pinscher rescue. We loved living in Germany. I really miss it. It looks so good doing the restoration. I just can't believe the difference. Like you said, a lot of work, but very satisfying.
You are amazing motivation person who has been to come up with family take care of yourself and wealth of life always goodluck God bless you all 🙏👍 I wish to leave this type of life always very peaceful place
Hard work, but worth it. Very nice job. Bruce ..........Dallas, Texas USA
Fabulous job, as usual. It's really starting to look like a home.
Absolutely perfect job. Very nice farmhouse. I love it.
All the dirt on top of the cobblestones was in fact very rich compost! I don't know where you dumped it all, but I would have added as much as possible to the garden as I could. Very good and lots of hard work! Looks great.
This dirt resides in our garden now 😁 so we saved it. We covered it with plastic and next year will use it in a garden, as you suggested. Thanks, Andrew!
@@DeHoeveOldBelgianFarm Excellent! Thank you kindly for replying.
@@DeHoeveOldBelgianFarm Be careful in covering the compost. Covering soil with plastic will heat everything and kill weeds but it will also kill the beneficial bacteria in the compost. I think you'd be much better off putting it on the future garden beds and let the thousands of little critters make the soil richer. A spoonful of soil will contain millions of tiny living things.
You all did an amazing job. The cobblestones look beautiful and really suit the house. A lovely home - thanks for sharing.
Marvelous paving, good that you restored it. Nice home.
Joy to see you again good health and working so that you dont get ill.
That property is an absolute gem!
Beautiful natural cobblestones instead of industrial boring concrete titles. Good job and respect for your initiative and work!
Very very nice job !
Can you imagine if the pavers were removed, then correctly laid down back with proper joints and not earth that always get everything muddy and moss and weeds that inevitably grow ? That would be so beautiful 😍
Anything worth doing is worth doing right. And, you have certainly proved that. Wishing you the best of luck for the future. Blessings.
Молодцы, вы работяги, пусть трудности вас боятся !👍👍👍
What a wonderful driveway was underneath all that mud. By the thickness of the mud lyaer and diameter of the tree trunks I guess that the preowner didn't took care of it for about 20 years. Great work! 👍😎
work was approved by the supervisor Mr. Cat :)
Wow... just wow! All those beautifull cobblestones, I did not expect that. What an amazing transformation.😊🤩🥰
Your incredible, great job, love the cobble stone, amazing
Congratulations on this milestone in your lives. I wish you all the best with current and future renovations. You guys certainly deserve this over and over.
I would string cable through the existing post that’s a lovely fence paint it green. Or put grapes there or roses. In between the posts.
Such a fence would definitely look very nice, Phillip 🙌🏼
We already opted to plant a hedge out of beech trees, so we don’t really need these posts anymore. The farmers had this kind of fence (as we have seen on the photo before the Second World War), and we want to go back to the origins 😁 and beech hedges look gorgeous throughout the year.
You indicated your slow pace was why it took two months to clean up. In the American military, we have a motto: “Slow is smooth; smooth is fast.” It implies fewer mistakes, repeated or duplicate processes. I’m amazed by the amount of work y’all accomplished.
Oh My! Your perseverance really paid off! It looks so nice! I watched your video twice! I think potted plants will serve your husband well, and be the beginning of a lovely new garden. Some of those plants may be as old as your house. How wonderful to give them new life just like your lovely house. Maybe , someday, you can take us on a road trip to visit near by village. What is the name of the village? I would like to look up on a map. You work so hard, and I am jealous that I can’t do the same. I am very intrigued by what appears to be a mail box by the front fence. That is so antique and unique! We have lovely weather ,here in Michigan. I really enjoyed visiting the farm this morning...thank you for the invitation. Many blessings to you and family.
Aww.. thanks a lot, Cookie! Enjoy the nice weather!
All the plants are going to become bansai trees, it's the most recent hobby of Illia. He spends hours giving his numerous trees the needed shape and replanting them 😄
It's indeed a mail box, but it's very typical for the area, not really unique, but for sure old enough. It has symbol of Belgian post on it. Ours is broken and could hardly be repaired, but I plan to recycle some parts of it in our new one (I plan to build it myself out of bricks).
Cookie, I would love to share the name of the village but out of the privacy reasons I'd better not do it here, on Internet. A tour around the village is a good idea, I love it!
thats crazy!!! what a difference 😲 you guys are amazing 💪💪💪
Great job and Nice to see yr dreamhouse becoming reality 😄🤛✌️
I could not agree more that house needs to be seen , it's a fantastic looking building , 👍🏻
Респект!Такую красоту откопали.Брусчатка супер.
Впечатляет, что замощена вся площадка рядом с домом вплоть до сарая. У нас (В Беларуси) подобное было роскошью, и то в западной части страны.
Such a beautiful home, and so satisfying to see the hard work pay off!
I wish you the very best with your venture.
It looks amazing already! Imagine a patio table and chairs and a glass of wine to enjoy the view and the tranquility. The idea of a green fence is ideal and may have been the original one. The concrete one looks like something from the 1930's. Great job!
I really like the cat that was wondering about the whole time
Every worksite needs a supervisor.
Such a gorgeous surprise! Finding the cobblestone! Y’all have really worked endlessly!! All your efforts are certainly paying off! Loved this video
Amazing! You turned a dump into a beautiful Victorian Carriage Yard and it looks fantastic. Shutters on the upper floor windows and a frontal camera shot will take the viewer back over 100 years. Well done folks.
Wow what a beautiful building and grounds your very lucky ,hope you and your family enjoy many years there , great job 🇬🇧👍🏼
Nice timelapse especially with the cat and also the day with the shadows wandering
There's something about old European houses that catches my eye. Maybe someday Ill be able to build a small cottage built in the Swiss/Deutsch style. Just a different vibe to them especially with the cobblestone driveway.
Absolutely amazing that all that cobblestone was under there!!!!
Parabéns ao casal pelo excelente trabalho executado! Um parabéns especial a essa senhorita que foi de uma dedicação exemplar, uma trabalhadora nota 10 ! ( from Brazil )
Muito obrigado! É tão gentil da sua parte!
@@DeHoeveOldBelgianFarm Que legal, responder em português!!!
It is just amazing what good condition all that cobble stone is in.
For some reason the area looks like somewhere in the countryside of England...
Belgium has a similar feel to England in a lot of ways.
Well, Belgium is 80 km/50 miles away from England, it would be odd if it were too different.
@@kauemoura it’s not 50 miles
@@dannycrabb2763 Yes it is, If you go from the south east coast of England to the north west coast of Belgium it is like 60miles

I'm a single mum of. 3 IV transferred my garden from weeds n little grass from broken gates to fences to a patio gravel and artificial grass took a long time and lots of money and still needs more work but I'm inlove with my new garden 😁
This was so satisfying to watch! Thank you for not painting all the bricks white like everyone here in the U.S. has been doing the past few years. & the cobblestones look amazing!
That looks absolutely smashing. I have no idea how much cobblestones cost, but I would imagine they are not cheap. Here in Tassie we picked up flat cream paving stones for $150 a pallet which was equal to about 2 square metres at an auction. They were normally 3 times that cost. So I would imagine that area is about 100 square meters (probably more) so that would be over $20 000 alone for the pavers (equivalent here). That is not including labour or anything else. So hard graft has probably saved you $20 000 in costs at least. Well done to you both. That is the way you will end up with a lovely, lovely house. You save where you can and only pay for the things you really need to (plumbing and electrics). Look forward to more of your adventures.
Thank you, Liane! Have a nice day ahead!
Not really sure how much money we saved. They are not really expensive here in Belgium (compared to what you paid): I came across the price of €32,40 per m2 on one of the websites, you could even find them (used ones) for free (but most probably the previous owner will ask you to get them out yourself). Anyway, I love them because they are a part of the house and look so good together, an adorable authentic detail. The whole street has these cobbles along the road.
@@DeHoeveOldBelgianFarm I have noticed on other UA-cam channels how much cheaper building materials are at the hardware shop in Europe. It is soooooooooo expensive here. Those used cobblestones for free, WOW. Never would happen here; even if you could find them. Some dealer would take them and charge a fortune. I agree with you though - they do look adorable. All the best to you this week. I am now going to watch you guys pull down the pig barn. I have been saving that pleasure for a few days now. We have pigs, they don't live in a big barn like yours though. That would be like a palace to our pigs. I had a funny message at school today that came from home. Brady (the husband texted me) 'the pigs are out and have escaped into the bush'. My class thought that way so funny. About 2 hours later he texted again 'all good they came back and just walked into their pen for a bucket of apples'. The joys of rural life. I am sure a few of my students will go home tonight and tell the story about the escaped pigs! Good health to you.
@@somewherenicefarmstay6146 LOL 'escaped into the bush'. Good that a bucket of apples could lure them back into their pen!

Аre you guys russian?
@@_Us.AWe are Ukrainians, and speak Russian in the family.
You two are like archeologists uncovering the past. You have done an amazing job on cleaning up the cobblestones. Can you dump the old mud, soil & twigs on your own property? Are you saving the wood from the bigger branches for a wood stove? Keep up the good work & I hope your kids know how to make you a refreshing coffee during your hours of labouring. ☕
I am excited to see it 1-2 years from now when the plants are growing in the garden.
just beautiful!
Oh, so beautiful...you did a great job-the cobblestone is gorgeous. I miss Europe so badly...watching this video is very cathartic | peaceful. Thank You. ❤️
Please leave the posts-plant in between ❤️
Beautiful transformation! Bravo... the stone area is charming!
A tip from a long time wheelbarrow user, always have the empty barrow pointing in the direction you want it to go - when it's full.
The men who originally layed the cobblestone, long dead I’m sure, would love that you enjoy them.
