MEGA ABBRUCH BAUSTELLE! Abriss der ehemaligen Oberpostdirektion in Hamburg. Das beeindruckende Gebäude mit 11 Etagen wird wegen seiner Architektur auch "Postpyramide" genannt. In den 70er Jahren in der City Nord erbaut, war es Arbeitsplatz für 1.400 Menschen. Im Jahr 2011 wurde das Gebäude wegen Mängeln beim Brandschutz geräumt, im Jahr 2017 begann der Abriss. Die Arbeiten übernimmt die Firma Hagedorn. Ein Seilbagger mit Kugel beginnt am oberen Stockwerk, unterstützt von einem Longfront Bagger.

Tearing down the former headquarter of the german postal service - "the pyramid". Built in the 70's the impressive 11 story building was closed in 2011 due to fire protection issues. A renovation would have been too expensive and the decision was made to replace the building with new residential houses. A giant crawler crane with wrecking ball starting at the top of the building, supported by a high reach demolition excavator.

Nerd question alert) My question is how many calories would people use and how many calories does the heavy equipment use. Would it take less energy for people with sledge hammers to tear it down than the machines.
ive never in my life seen a excavator eat food....
ive filled plenty with diesel though ;)
so it wouldnt be " calories " rather it would be " energy consumption ".
then you would have to take into account time taken ie man hours x number of men , safety equipment , welfare facilities, increased managment per number of workers as well as increased medically trained people per number of workers just to name a few.
although times change and machines are used to increase efficiency in such circumstances like these it also negates many safety hazards that were wide spread, ie deaths from falls, injuries from manual labour, silicosis from breathing in fine particles of broken concrete which lead to many deaths alone
unless he attacks the pillars, this is very inefficient
