Currently writing this on my base model M1 MacBook Air. It is ridiculous how good it is. For reference I bought the Dell XPS 13 a month or so ago and I had to return two different units because the quality was horrible (bad keyboard, weird screen, bad sound, dead pixels etc...) and I'm so glad I did. I saved nearly $150 by buying this instead and I don't regret it one second. It should be noted that this is my first MacBook ever which probably adds to the wow factor. It is a joy to use.
Honestly I think for many people, a main decider is going to come down to the Touch Bar. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple are paying close attention to the sales demand between the two models, to collect some feedback on how desirable the Touch Bar really is. The models are so close in most ways, it's arguably the most consequential difference between the two. The battery life of both models is already so huge an improvement compared to what people are used to, it'll be really telling if more people still choose the Air even if the Pro's lasts longer. Apple have excellent sales data analysts so I'm sure they'll be able to get a decent verdict on how popular or unpopular the Touch Bar is, based on how many people (and which kind of people) choose the Air instead.
Then the moment the next MacBook comes out the year after that, the 14inch will be replaced, and the year after that, that laptop will also be replaced.. The cycle will never end.. lol

Great to see a UA-camr actually choosing the Pro over the Air and emphasising the importance of battery life. That's a huge deal for me, it's more important even than performance, and it's why I went with the speced out 13 inch over the new 14 inch despite there only being a 200 pound difference and really loving the new display and thin bezels. Macbooks are portable devices and the more battery you can squeeze out of a laptop the better the portability will be. Amazon now sells the Pro for about 200 pounds off so it's even harder these days to justify the Air when there's only about a 100 pound price difference between the retail price of the Air and the deals on the Pro. 2 hours battery life difference is pretty huge, that alone could see your through most flights around Europe. The battery will also age better because as the battery degrades over time, the loss in battery life won't feel as significant on the Pro as it will on the Air

great review. The last time I was this early was never.......
Great video, again, btw
The Air obviously. (wont be replaced for a long time, the new 14" will replace the pro in few months) cheaper and fanless.
Has the 14" dropped yet?
@@Andre55923 no so sad!
Ali is now officially a tech UA-camr
my little sister has the newest MacBook Air and I have the newest MacBook Pro the speakers are very different when it comes to the base and the how loud they get u can tell very easily the MacBook Pro has better speakers just wanted to put that out their If someone is looking to buy one of these
and speakers matter to them
Hey was the price difference high?
@@river6550 nope her Mac air was 999 my pro was 1300 only 300 dollar difference but its worth it
I am 4 mins in, and already know what to get. Thanks bro 😎
I don't even have the money to be part of this 'Tough choice'
Dude you are an inspiration, like just the way your room looks inspires me I don’t know why
At this point I have lost all my hope for Ali’s iPhone 12 pro review
Great comparison and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the upload!
I checked my playback speed twice... Slow down sir.. ❤
LOL
3:40 "I'm planning on holding on these laptops for the next few years" c'mon, we all know you will be upgrading to the next 14" or 16" macbooks that are coming out in Q3 of 2021
It's so weird, I have the same mouse and speakers!
How is that weird?
The word you are looking for is coincidence not weird.
@@bsvphotography7 Agreed, but in this case it's not even a coincidence. Mass produced products are too common for it to be categorized as a coincidence when another person has them too. It would be a coincidence to be from a small town, go on vacation to visit your uncle and find out that his neighbor is a close relation to your neighbor back home. Having the same mouse and computer speakers as someone is just straight up expected. Like pulling into a parking space next to a honda civic and going, "Ah! I see you too have one of the most popular cars in the country!"
No one asked
@@Fsoricko ya he did 😐
Thank you so much for this! I’ve been on the fence on which to buy. Your analysis is really helpful!
anyone else be happy to just have the opportunity to have one of these?
Use Copy and pen ... Are you sure u a doctor ... You want people to wear spec's jud like u wearing it ... You must have cheated in Opthomology .
they're just tools
Perfect review plus your microphone is so high in quality
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I want to replace my 2015 Macbook with one of these, but I wanted a good breakdown and I appreciate this so much. I’m a nurse, not a computer nerd (said with affection😂) so I don’t know much about them, however, I do love music and I really REALLY appreciate you showing the differences between the mics/speakers-even though it probably means I’ll be getting the Pro lol
Thanks again and have a great day😁
im also in a medical field and not a tech expert. but im considering to buy a pro than an air
Anyone else get super anxious how he handles the MacBooks while comparing the weight?
I legit SAW them falling already 😂
Justifying extra $300 for almost invisible differences, this is such a first world Problem.
Was thinking this was a very bias view too
😂🤣
Super interesting but Ali talks so quickly that he make me nervous. Have a cup of tea when you start.
Productivity flows through Ali's veins
Explanation is brighter than my life.
Damn these were like all the points I needed, thank you 🙏🏽
which one did you get?
@@joyyoussef2298 None
I purchased MacBook pro 2 weeks ago and loving working on it. Do web development and almost I get battery time of 10+ hrs with number of applications I am working.
Is base variant 8gb and 256gb macbook air m1 good for programing? Coz I've heard there's a compatibility issue
One question: What should I learn. Python or JavaScript?
Both
Depends if you wanna learn more, you could start with C but if you get frustrated easily better with python and then expand
Python
Java gang
@@yahyawasim1994 Dude python is better its more used than java
Thanks for the review, Ali. I'm a relative new comer to the channel and have enjoyed the productivity content. Just ordered a MBA for school, and it's a game changer for sure. Thought I'd offer something relevant rather than hair/beard shaming like so many others here that have nothing better to offer. Keep up the good work.
His hand movements in this review are hilarious 😂😂😂
best comparison video ever... definitely answered all my questions
Since you're super focused on productivity, you could have mentioned that the air is wedge-shaped, which makes typing more comfortable for most people :)
Awesome video as usual Ali ❤️
