I don't know of a performer who could rise from a seated position while singing, and inspire more awe and admiration than Vestal Goodman. She and Loretta Lynn grew more beautiful as they aged.

Vestal was a precious lady of God singing the praises of God my sweet mother sang many years for the Lord she had a beautiful voice and very anointed she played the piano for many years she was a blessing to all l miss her every day she passed away in 2005 as well as my dad he sang and played guitar my brother Dave played music as well my mom and l sang together for many years miss them all so much

I got the chance to meet Vestal and Howard at a Christian Book Store, in Cleveland TN. It had been about 6 months since my grandmother had passed away, her and Vestal could have been twins. When I met Vestal, I told her that she reminded me so much of Grandma, and that she had recently passed. Vestal hugged me and said I will be your grandma. What a good person, and the world is a little worst off with out her.

It was such a honor to be able to see her perform with the Gaither homecoming SERIES. She could set a stage on fire! Just the sound of her voice was like an angel had just came down to sing. Hate to put truth out there...but, I as a black American will visit white churches; and listen to Gaither Family and try and find Joy Garner where I can because we live in a perilous time. The killing of Floyd and yesterday Brooks in Atlanta can sometimes leave African American spinning. And when it gets to pointing to being against the color of those doing the killing...I purposefully visit a white church to pray sing and worship with them. And I seek these songs by these folks to reinforce my truth that love conquers hate.
