Hi guys! I promised angst on my next outing, so...you're welcome? lol I love this song so much, and it always comes across like two lovers trying desperately to convince themselves and the world that they are "over" each other, to no avail. That pretty much sums Jackie and Hyde up to a tee. They keep saying they don't care, but we (and like every single character on the show) know the truth. They will never be over it.
Anyway, thank you all for the support on my previous video. I hope you like this one! As always this is dedicated to Julie (1SnoWhiteQueen1) for being my biggest supporter and inspiration. She made a lovely Lex/Lana video to this song awhile back. Everyone should check that one and all her videos out. She has made some lovely JH videos too!

I totally agree! The original writers of the show planned on ending it with Hyde proposing to Jackie, but the jerks they brought in to write season 8 destroyed it all! So frustrating!

Considering that the only reason for this is bc of Danny Masterson, they're definitely endgame. ❤
My version: Fez and Jackie didn’t work out but stayed friends and roommates. Kelso lived in Chicago and started dating his baby mama again. Donna went to college and started dating Eric again. Hyde and Jackie fell back in love and Jackie got her own TV show in Point Place. They fell in love and got married after a few years and had kids. Endgame

Molly Nolan I kind of liked them but personally I thought that Donna cared too much about herself. I’m not saying that she didn’t care about Eric because she clearly did but there were quite a few times where she showed that she cared more about her happiness than Eric’s happiness and that’s why I think they were a bad couple. But I do think that if their lives were a bit different and they were in slightly different mindsets their relationship could be something really special

Agreed. The writers made it totally obvious that Jackie/Hyde were a younger Kitty/Red! There are several examples that prove it! They deserved the same ending as Red and Kitty!

To all the people upset they “didn’t end up together” this is how i look at it :) - after season 7 the show got new writers and season 8 is where they ended for real, but the original writers obviously planned on having Jackie and Hyde end up together in the end so I just remember the original storyline and remember that one

Right? I just had to showcase that, because it shows such a great growth of character in Kelso and that JH belong together. I hate that the writers retconned this in the end.

I’ve never actually finished That 70s Show and kinda watched it on and off but I still don’t understand why these two weren’t endgame. What were the writers thinking? This is so beautiful and bittersweet, Ashley. The song, the scenes/quotes. Just everything. Amazing job 💕

They trashed season 8 by having jackie and hyde not be together. Sorry. I love this show but they threw out something great and iconic and something which had so so so much potential. Their relationship really grew both characters in really entertaining ways. One of the best "opposing characters in a relationship" dynamic. Hate that season 8 was written and made without them together.
I concur!! I still kind of feel like JH not being endgame is the biggest mistake in writing on tv, and I have watched a lot of badly written endings. lol xD

wow you are so good at making videos when jackie was listing reasons why hyde never did anything a boyfriend should do but showed that he did man it just shows how the writers just forgot 7 seasons of development, absolutely unreal lmfao, for me, it ended with Eric asking if Hyde didn't decide if he was going to marry Jackie and he said "No, I've decided." and chased after her to chicago to tell her he wanted to marry her

If you mean the scene at the football game, I always interpreted that as Hyde understanding how proud Jackie is. He knew if he went up to her she would be embarrassed, so instead he went and got Donna to help her. As much as I would have loved to see him go up to her and hold her, I think this speaks to who Jackie and Hyde are as people and that they actually have more in common than people think!

Yayy I'm so happy you ended up finishing this!! And you used the WHOLE SONG!! Ofc I love all the scenes and voiceovers you chose, omg there are sooo many scenes of them trying to convice themselves and others that they dont like each other/are over each other/general denial....SO MANY LOL! This song seems pretty much made for them! xD
I think my fav part (even tho it made me mad, which isn't YOUR fault lol) is the voiceover of Jackie talking about how Fez has always been there for her/makes her feel good about herself (which...none of that is true but ok nice retcon lol) and showing scenes of HYDE doing those things for her. Esp because you picked scenes from even before they were dating, to kind of show that they've always had a bond of sorts, he's always been there for her (even if they made fun of each other a lot lol). Which is why they ALWAYS made sense as a couple even if it was meant to be a "twist" at first lol, whereas Fez was legit nothing but bad writing/a total retcon. I really don't mean to sully your vid by talking about disgusting s8 lol but u know I just HAD to rant xD

LMAO I originally was going to end that voice over with "He never did anything a boyfriend is supposed to do.", but I decided to leave the "He never bought me a horse" line in too because it was too funny and ridiculous, and with all that angst it made me chuckle. But on a deeper level I think it worked perfectly with the t-shirt scene. Jackie has these shallow ideas when it comes to gifts, that they should be grand and expensive, but in giving her his favorite shirt, Hyde was giving her something with much more VALUE. He was sharing a part of himself with her, and that mattered more to her than any amount of money he could have spent. The writers seemed to forget that, but this is why I point out their dumbassery! lol
Oh yay I am SO glad you liked/pointed out that part with her voice over about Fez. I was really excited to do that part, because everything she said about Fez there actually applied to HYDE. The season 8 writers were morons. Every time Fez was "there" for her, he wanted something. It was always an attempt to get in her pants. As soon as she finds out Kelso cheated on her, he is jumping at the chance to make a move. And that wasn't just in the early seasons. Even in season 7 when she is practically in tears talking about how much she loves and misses HYDE, Fez tries to kiss her. It was never out of a genuine desire to be there for Jackie. Meanwhile, when she was crying over her breakup with Kelso SHE tried to kiss Hyde. What did he do? He pulled away. He constantly tried to get Kelso caught when no one else (including Jackie's BEST FRIEND) seemed to care. And then he never took advantage of her in her vulnerable state the way Fez did. He just tried to build her up and defended her. But suuuuuuuure Fez was the one who was there for her...I just had to prove the bullshit writing wrong. haha xD

That's when that terrible Stay video was uploaded. haha I just keep those up for the nostalgia factor. The quality is so bad. But it makes me so happy that we have stayed close for over a decade! And yeah I love Fez ofc but he's def a "problematic" character, esp watching thru a modern lens lol. He was NEVER there for Jackie in a selfless way, they were never bff. It made soo much sense when I found out s8 was literally written by all new people lol they didn't know these characters or their histories at ALL!

BTW, i know you mostly do Hyde/Jackie videos, but would you be willing to make a Kelso/Jackie video: I recently listend to this Carrie Underwood song "Good in goodbye" and it made me think of Kelso and Jackie. Other than that, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! I have never really thought about doing a JK video, because I don't ship them, though I do appreciate the friendship they form in the later seasons. You can kind of see that in this video with Kelso helping Jackie and Hyde get back together. I will listen to that song! Thanks for the suggestion! :)

I know this is random and I might be going too far or thinking too much but...I think the new writers were kinda racist or something. Fez and Jackie were great as friends but nothing more. Their relationship just came out of nowhere and what's the point of hating on Hyde and Jackie. What was so wrong about them, when they clearly were meant to be together. I don't understand how they hate the couple to make them break up. They just made the two dark-tone character to end up together. I know, it's not right to assume but this is just too bizarre and I'm trying to find a reason why they hated Hyde and Jackie to make Fez and Jackie end up together. Again, probably thinking too much.
I hadn't thought of that! But you're right that JF are the darkest characters, despite the fact that they wanted us to believe Hyde was half black. And whether or not it was racist, it sure as hell was sexist to treat Jackie like a joint passed around from guy to guy in the circle. Just disgusting all around.

I just never thought jackie and hyde were a very good fit. Hyde in general just isn’t the best relationship material. He never really grows out of that silly non conformist bs so he spends too much time and energy trying not to care about things that are important to everyone else.
Jackie at least grows, rather tremendously, as a person throughout the show.
Even Kelso evolved more than Hyde.
I'm not sure why you're commenting that on a Jackie/Hyde video. I actually completely disagree. We see a lot of growth from Hyde as well, particularly in season 5. You have to realize that Hyde is by far the most jaded and emotionally damaged character on the show. Kitty explains it when she says "You don't know how to comfort someone because you've never been comforted". Yet time and again we see Hyde comfort Jackie. He's not always able to articulate it, but he usually shows it. Until the writers decided to ruin that for either cheap jokes or drama that chucked all that growth.
I agree that Kelso grew...largely because of Brooke/Betsy and definitely not with any help from Jackie. I would also point out that as Jackie inspires a lot of growth in Hyde, he does with her as well. They help each other see the world in a different way. That's the great balance of this pairing.
