I’m an American, even I know that the British Royal family adopted the surname of Windsor in 1917. They did so because their original surname was Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, it made them sound German(which they originally were) since the British were fighting the Germans in WWI and later on in WW2…they wanted to show more solidarity with the British people.
