Wow, what a coincidence. I was just watching videos of every season of Fall Guys yesterday since I stopped watching the game 5 days after it got popular.
Because it was a kids game that had 0 competitive as a games as a service the better question i think should be asked is what made people think this game would survive as it clearly wasnt statistics or economics
As someone who still plays fall guys, the game is definitely not dead. There's way more maps, features, skins and gamemodes, definitely try it out again and you'll have a fun time
Its something for a game to have lots of content and its another thing for it to not have players. Its a great game and it has improved a lot but even then it doesnt remove the fact that its pretty much dead now. Still, maybe ill try it someday again

It's not dead, it's just not as big. It got way bigger than anticipated and the current playerbase is relatively high for an indie game. It's a total success and everyone at EGX 2021 shown their love for it by mobbing the stall all weekend.
While i don't think the game died, but i believe that it lost alot of popularity. Switch and Xbox didn't come out yet, and the game is highly rumored and leaked (kind of) to be free to play in the next season. So maybe these will make the game grow again
I really hope Epic Games doesn't make the game free as that would just be a very lazy move to just popularize the game again without actually doing much to the game's content. Tbh I think the real reason along with the fact that Among Us happened is because Mediatonic didn't update the game fast enough and didn't fix any notable problems with the game for a long time.
No switch or Xbox release is probably the biggest issue here. It's missing a huge amount of players that won't be able to play it otherwise, and although any game that becomes as popular as it has so fast dies off nearly as quickly too it would've probably had more time before it started to falter and more players afterwards.

Millions of people already heard about the game and as you can get it on PC, it's mostly already accessible by a lot of people. When I think of playing a game, I don't immediately think about playing it on a Switch or something as that's just an additional version of the game that would be nice to have for portability, not as my main way to play. It doesn't change anything about the game and since a lot of people already knew the game, it would just not do anything at all unless the game actually gets updated well enough and in time. Releasing it on Xbox and Switch right now isn't going to do anything either, the game literally had its chance and missed it, what is it going to do by just releasing the game to platforms that are less accessible than something like PC or Ps4 when the game in fact was released free on there as a Ps+ offer? All it's going to do is bring people that have no idea of what had happened in the game and just think it's a good game to play cause its fall guys and it's a popular game and that's a slim amount of people compared to the many who already played the game starting from more than a year ago. They already pretty much screwed up by saying "it's coming to xbox and switch just trust me bro" month after month with no signs of it coming anytime soon.
I genuinely feel that this game would be so much more fun if they gave access to a level editor and a community made level system. Imagine being able to make your own levels and play any of them with friends or you could like select 10 maps from the community levels and then play them all together. The game would never get boring if there was constantly new levels and concepts made by the players themselves, although this is something only to dream about I hope it does happen, I mean hey mario maker is a thing so who knows.
For anybody who has not tried Fall Guys ever since season 1 or 2 and still have it, PLAY THE GAME. Trust me, there is loads new content and a bunch of new features! For example: there are events to get certain skins.
The game hasn't changed and it's mostly just a grindfest now. People who are mostly saying to play the game are just casuals would will mostly say anything positive about the game when in reality, it's just the same repetitive gameplay with season after season and crossover after crossover. The game really isn't as enjoyable as many people think as in order to get these skins, you have to win multiple times and play for hours. Not trying to shut others down who play it as that's fine but just saying, it already mostly met it's potential and now it's over and only seen as a game that's only sometimes fun every once in a good while. Mediatonic really just ignored most of the bugs and problems with the game and didn't update the game for a crap long time.
I want to add a little something that honestly doesn't help out with Fall Guys in the long run, and that is Epic purchasing the game itself. I am not one to complain as long as the game is still good, but they made it so that to those who get the game anywhere, such as steam for example, you are required to have an Epic account in order to play the game, it was implemented in the 6th season, so meaning it cut the player base, and made those who didn't have an epic account, (or want one) forced to make an account in order to play Fall Guys. I know it isn't something that made Fall Guys drop faster than a ball falling at the speed of light, but i wanted to point this out because it's something that potentially kills the potential of the game seeing fame again.
This is something I see almost nobody talking about and I think it played a major part in Fall Guys' original success. Prior to the game's official launch, they contacted streamers big and small and gave them hundreds of codes to give out to viewers for the game's Early Access Playtest (or something like that). This meant that tons of people who would have never considered Fall Guys got a chance to play it for free prior to it's official launch, with the $20 price tag and all. It's a really smart move for online games and I hope to see more of them do it because it makes for banging content
My main problem with the game is the controls, they feel really heavy and uneasy to me, but aside of my problems, it's without a doubt a good game, and it's sad not too many people care about it anymore
I'm still playing fall guys myself but it's a little chill game that I play when I'm stressed and they have added new maps and that so it's fun to go back to if you haven't been on for a while

The game was bought by epic games, is coming to literally every platform, is going free to play now and people who paid are getting exclusive cosmetics for being there earlier. The players aren’t decreasing even more now because they don’t like the game, it’s because you need an epic account to play now, and many people either don’t have it in their region or refuse to make one. Once epic solves these issues, the game becomes f2p and the “symphony season 1 (epic is resetting the seasons just like they did to rocket league) comes out, I’m pretty sure the game will rise back to popularity, even if it won’t be as big as it used to be.

It didn't fail. Videos like this are so stupid, it's still going and still has a pretty solid player base. I hate this modern society where everyone acts like a game is either on top of the world or nonexistent.
It was really only so popular at the start due to the start of Covid and quarantine. It was a game we never really seen before and being stuck home this was it. Even now it’s not a bad game it’s still fun and entertaining at times
The thing is there initial marketing strategy was genius but it was also fleeting. Having it start as a creator only game to make intrigue before releasing it to the general public was really neat. But when the game blew up, it was lacking in content and options and had a lot of issues. Of course there’s also the factor of puffball releasing the Henry stickmin collection which very prevalently endorsed among us and soon enough people just saw fall guys as stepping stone towards among us.

Just off the last point alone this falls flat. Playing human fall flat is just fine the only people I've ever seen have problem with controlling are complete idiots or complete noobs. Quirky kinda wonky movement isn't the issue by a long shot especially in this game where it has some of the most refined wonky control compared to any other game that has used the gimmick. Seriously tho if you had issue playing human fall flat just get gud

I feel like game more so found it’s small yet dedicated fanbase that have stuck around and it’s limelight died down big time, leaving the game feeling much quieter than before.
I miss fallguys. Was interested in it ever since I saw it first announced, knew I wanted to get it when devolver expo showed it off more, loved it at launch. Fell in love with slime climb and hex-a-gone (my first crown win final). Talked a few friends into playing it as well. Overall, I really enjoyed the game and had fun with it. But, friends weren't as in love with the game as me. Also weren't as good, maybe that had something to do with it; one friend only ever won a single crown. The game had it's issues, mostly nitpicks but there were a few huge glaring problems. The name thing wasn't that big a deal, slightly annoying, but not a deal breaker in the slightest. Not all the minigames were equally interesting or fun, and possibly negative bias here but some of those less fun ones seemed to show up more often. Absolutely hated most of the team games, most of all the egg one(and then for some reason one of the handful of events they added in that first season was another egg one, why?). And then there were the cheaters. At first, it didn't happen all that much, but over time I saw more and more, and they clearly weren't trying to be subtle about it. Really made the whole thing feel like a waste of time when they waited until the final to be blatant about it, but worse is seeing all the other players not recognize that a cheater is in the lobby, thus they don't actually stand a chance to win. Had a few team games where someone on my team started flying around so I'd try to throw to make sure the cheater didn't get the win and ruin the lobby for all the others, but the rest of the people on my team, and in general most if not all players that ended up on a team with an obvious cheater, would still try their hardest to win. All of this was probably the biggest reason I lost interest in the game. Then Epic bought the company. Not gonna get into it here, this is long enough as is, but I refuse to use Epic at this point. When they initially got bought out, it killed any interest I had in getting back into the game, because I figured it was only a matter of time before it got the rocket league treatment. Then back in november of last year despite Epic owning the game I got an itch to pick fallguys back up again, but by that time it was too late, Fallguys now requires an epic account link to play through steam. I refuse. Then, for the first time since I got the game, I uninstalled it, cementing the fact I wouldn't be going back.

as a competitive fall guys player and content creator who never stopped playing the game, I feel that the reason this game lost popularity is solely because of lack of content, every season is getting longer and longer, and we have gone 3 and a half months without an update, and in the update, we are only getting ONE map. 3 months for one map. another flaw is the fact that the devs really just don’t care about fixing bugs anymore, there have been horrible tournament/game ruining bugs, like randomly getting eliminated for no reason in survival maps, auto win exploits by jumping into the middle of jump showdown for example, grabs simply not working and people floating on air due to desync on roll off, leading me onto the main reason why this game is simply unplayable. the servers are absolutely horrible, it could take a second for the servers to register movement, leading to getting slingshotted by other players, players phasing through obstacles and multiple players causing a “desync tornado” that flings any player caught in it flying, normally into the slime, and the devs aren’t doing ANYTHING about it.
For me it failed when it moved to Epic. Spent about two weeks of constantly getting disconnected from games, massive lag, and just quit playing from there.

Back in the day we had Fall Guys and Among Us in one game that was called Garrys Mod. Even Counter Strike had capability to handle these type of games.

Fall Guys is about to blow up again. its going F2P on March 6 for ALL PLATFORMS!! (exepct mobile) It's going to be the next fortnite, because you have to buy the "battle pass" with real money. Unless, you bought it before SS1, (like me) then, you get it for free.
Personally I just felt there weren't enough minigames at launch, and unfortunately team-based games were ruined as the community just collectively agreed to gang up on gold-team. I still go back to try it out whenever new minigames drop, so long as the devs keep making content I'll keep playing.
Never even had the chance to play it since it's stuck on two platforms i don't own. Whenever it does eventually make it's way over to Switch and Xbox It'll hopefully see a resurgence

I’ve always hated fall guys for several reasons. 1: a one in 60 chance of winning? Seriously? 2: team games are horrible because your team is usually trash. 3: hackers and glitches. 4: the trolling is unfair. 5: it’s mostly based on luck. 6: like why would you make the center fan. It’s almost impossible. 7: you can’t expose the cheaters!!!!!
Fortnite is a 1 in a 100 chance of winning, so is cod warzone and pretty much every battle royale, but people love those. Hackers aren't as common as they used to be, so it looks like you're basing it off of how it was a year ago. I rarely get trolled now, and if I do it's pretty easy to get out of the troll. If you've played the game for a while and and don't just run through everything with no train of thought, you'll realize that (,although some of it luck based,) the majority of maps do have some skill needed. You can expose the cheaters (if you find one in game nowadays) through fall guys discord, but no in-game so I guess I agree with you on that. Also, Fall Guys recently went F2P so it will def rise in player count for a while. Sorry if i seemed a bit mad there lol just my response, and sorry for making and entire damn essay.
All those you listed are YOU problems. If your teams trash, don't blame the game. It's not based on luck actually watch gameplay for once. Nobody even hacks anymore due to the addition of reporting. The center fan IS possible just get good. And if you don't like 1 in 60 chance of winning, play squads show or a different mode. Come back to me when you actually replay the game.

I still play fall guys and they made a lot of improvements. Crossplay and teams helps a lot with the multiplayer aspect. While the game's not dead, there's def a drop in players since you rarely get a full lobby anymore
In terms of the initial popularity, you totally glossed over the high marketing budget and the amount of youtubers/streamers that were paid the play/promote the game.
Same reason Among Us is on the decline now. Its the equivalent to like... 1-3 Mario Party minigames. There's only so much you can do before it gets repetitive
A reason for me is the slow implementation of new rounds, I hoped that each season would feel more different from the previous one. The falling scene could also change from time to time. I think Rocket League, Fortnite and some other games don‘t get quality new gameplay content fast enough. (It feels like they are just existing until they maybe die or something new appears) Also adding real crossplay (team-crossplay) to play with friends took a long time for Fall Guys. Additionally the slideshow showing rounds beetween the rounds is pausing the experience and after that you get a white screen which is like they forgot that darkmode exists. I think a black or darker colour would be better there, maybe also a loading symbol.
The people just play games that constantly have updates and no one play singleplayer games or games with and ending everithing is casual and that is sad and angry me so much I hate the casuals are ruining the industry
My biggest issue with this game is the fact that there arent enough maps. They get boring really fast when it feels like u get the same maps over and over it doesnt feel like a complete game.
The worst part is that there are many rip offs way worse than fall guys getting more popularity than the current fall guys *I'm looking at you, "stumble guys"*
I had a community of friends to play with, but after the servers became worse and worse, we weren't even able to finish an entire match without people disconnecting. Fun game but without a stable connection it was useless
Literally played it a couple of days ago and the matchmaking for 60 players took less than 20 seconds. I’ve played the sh** out of it and I’ve never had an issue, never found a cheater, never had connection problems. So it doesn’t suck and it isn’t dead at all.
Ok, i loved fall guys, to me this is WAS the perfect battle royale, no microtransactions, a surprisingly competitive landscape, really rewarding wins, there was a point past s1 where i would boot up the game every day and grind for hours on end, nothing beat out this game for me, untill... Epic games services, yup, thats what killed the game for me, the fact that i had to use EGSe to play it made me so mad that i just left cold turkey, they could've made the game just better on steam and kept it consistent which is what i loved about it, but now i need stupid passthrough services to play my funny bean game, and sadly; i don't wanna have epic games spying on my pc, so i guess that was the end of an era for me, i left the game with 400 hours and all of the achievements done (one of only 2 of my games which i have 100% on steam) And thats not the worst of it, Fall guys is going to go F2P which to me just means that they are abandoning their old playerbase and pleasing new players, They are leaving the long time fans in the dirt and just trying to make a quick buck off of new people spending a few dollars on a skin, and so i just said: Hell no. and just left before that actually happened.
This game is 100% NOT dead just because fewer people play. We're still having fun. The only issue is that when too many people are on it can still kick you. That sort of disproves everything you said though because a dead game wouldn't have too many players.

Fall guys player here, now with over 400+ wins, the game is actually pretty fun! New maps, tons of outfits, it's now easier to get crowns, it's just a very fun game in general. If you have the cash laying around and you're super bored, hop on the game, so worth it
But after 6 months I finally confirm Among us isn’t a reason make Fall Guys lost many player. The reason is the game problem because developers didn’t know the game will popular so how they can fix it fast like Among us got too.
I used to actively play Fall Guys since it started (jumping from PS4 to PC) but since they (Epic Games buying them out) forced the "Epic Games Launcher" on Steam users, I had to uninstall and quit playing from PC. Is this what we get for Crossplatform play/Cross-saves, I don't want to deal with it.
I remember back then on any online event chat like game awards, playstation presents or whatever was flooded with: "Where's fall guys!??????" "Fall guys season 2!!!!!!??????" Yadi yadi yada, I'm pretty sure those were the ones who first stop giving a crap about the game once among us took over

I mean... I'd argue it didn't fail at all really. Mediatonic got bought by Epic Games, and regardless of how you feel about Epic Games, that doesn't happen with most indie developers, unless they're STUPIDLY successful, which I'd say Fall Guys was at its peak. Honestly, I'm still waiting on those Switch and Xbox ports, they're not my most anticipated games, but I'll certainly be picking it up on Switch. The game itself is a very good concept, a Mario Party minigame battle royale? Sign me up! As for playerbase, it has a 30 day average of ~6,400 players, which for a sixty player battle royale means 100ish full games running at any given point, that's not a small amount of players really. And that's just accounting for Steam, I know that right now it's only out on Steam and Playstation, but after Switch and Xbox, that could easily be double in reality.

All it's going to do is bring people that have no idea of what had happened in the game and just think it's a good game to play cause its fall guys and it's a popular game and that's a slim amount of people compared to the many who already played the game starting from more than a year ago.
They already pretty much screwed up by saying "it's coming to xbox and switch just trust me bro" month after month with no signs of it coming anytime soon.

I genuinely feel that this game would be so much more fun if they gave access to a level editor and a community made level system. Imagine being able to make your own levels and play any of them with friends or you could like select 10 maps from the community levels and then play them all together. The game would never get boring if there was constantly new levels and concepts made by the players themselves, although this is something only to dream about I hope it does happen, I mean hey mario maker is a thing so who knows.

As a fall guys player I would say wait for next season. Season 5 and 6 are disasters
The game hasn't changed and it's mostly just a grindfest now. People who are mostly saying to play the game are just casuals would will mostly say anything positive about the game when in reality, it's just the same repetitive gameplay with season after season and crossover after crossover. The game really isn't as enjoyable as many people think as in order to get these skins, you have to win multiple times and play for hours. Not trying to shut others down who play it as that's fine but just saying, it already mostly met it's potential and now it's over and only seen as a game that's only sometimes fun every once in a good while.
Mediatonic really just ignored most of the bugs and problems with the game and didn't update the game for a crap long time.

I want to add a little something that honestly doesn't help out with Fall Guys in the long run, and that is Epic purchasing the game itself. I am not one to complain as long as the game is still good, but they made it so that to those who get the game anywhere, such as steam for example, you are required to have an Epic account in order to play the game, it was implemented in the 6th season, so meaning it cut the player base, and made those who didn't have an epic account, (or want one) forced to make an account in order to play Fall Guys.
I know it isn't something that made Fall Guys drop faster than a ball falling at the speed of light, but i wanted to point this out because it's something that potentially kills the potential of the game seeing fame again.
This is something I see almost nobody talking about and I think it played a major part in Fall Guys' original success. Prior to the game's official launch, they contacted streamers big and small and gave them hundreds of codes to give out to viewers for the game's Early Access Playtest (or something like that). This meant that tons of people who would have never considered Fall Guys got a chance to play it for free prior to it's official launch, with the $20 price tag and all.
It's a really smart move for online games and I hope to see more of them do it because it makes for banging content

The game was bought by epic games, is coming to literally every platform, is going free to play now and people who paid are getting exclusive cosmetics for being there earlier. The players aren’t decreasing even more now because they don’t like the game, it’s because you need an epic account to play now, and many people either don’t have it in their region or refuse to make one. Once epic solves these issues, the game becomes f2p and the “symphony season 1 (epic is resetting the seasons just like they did to rocket league) comes out, I’m pretty sure the game will rise back to popularity, even if it won’t be as big as it used to be.

It was really only so popular at the start due to the start of Covid and quarantine. It was a game we never really seen before and being stuck home this was it. Even now it’s not a bad game it’s still fun and entertaining at times

One thing that could skyrocket this game back to the top is adding voice chat.
The thing is there initial marketing strategy was genius but it was also fleeting. Having it start as a creator only game to make intrigue before releasing it to the general public was really neat. But when the game blew up, it was lacking in content and options and had a lot of issues. Of course there’s also the factor of puffball releasing the Henry stickmin collection which very prevalently endorsed among us and soon enough people just saw fall guys as stepping stone towards among us.

Quirky kinda wonky movement isn't the issue by a long shot especially in this game where it has some of the most refined wonky control compared to any other game that has used the gimmick.

I miss fallguys. Was interested in it ever since I saw it first announced, knew I wanted to get it when devolver expo showed it off more, loved it at launch. Fell in love with slime climb and hex-a-gone (my first crown win final). Talked a few friends into playing it as well. Overall, I really enjoyed the game and had fun with it.
But, friends weren't as in love with the game as me. Also weren't as good, maybe that had something to do with it; one friend only ever won a single crown. The game had it's issues, mostly nitpicks but there were a few huge glaring problems. The name thing wasn't that big a deal, slightly annoying, but not a deal breaker in the slightest. Not all the minigames were equally interesting or fun, and possibly negative bias here but some of those less fun ones seemed to show up more often. Absolutely hated most of the team games, most of all the egg one(and then for some reason one of the handful of events they added in that first season was another egg one, why?).
And then there were the cheaters. At first, it didn't happen all that much, but over time I saw more and more, and they clearly weren't trying to be subtle about it. Really made the whole thing feel like a waste of time when they waited until the final to be blatant about it, but worse is seeing all the other players not recognize that a cheater is in the lobby, thus they don't actually stand a chance to win. Had a few team games where someone on my team started flying around so I'd try to throw to make sure the cheater didn't get the win and ruin the lobby for all the others, but the rest of the people on my team, and in general most if not all players that ended up on a team with an obvious cheater, would still try their hardest to win. All of this was probably the biggest reason I lost interest in the game.
Then Epic bought the company. Not gonna get into it here, this is long enough as is, but I refuse to use Epic at this point. When they initially got bought out, it killed any interest I had in getting back into the game, because I figured it was only a matter of time before it got the rocket league treatment. Then back in november of last year despite Epic owning the game I got an itch to pick fallguys back up again, but by that time it was too late, Fallguys now requires an epic account link to play through steam. I refuse. Then, for the first time since I got the game, I uninstalled it, cementing the fact I wouldn't be going back.

as a competitive fall guys player and content creator who never stopped playing the game, I feel that the reason this game lost popularity is solely because of lack of content, every season is getting longer and longer, and we have gone 3 and a half months without an update, and in the update, we are only getting ONE map. 3 months for one map. another flaw is the fact that the devs really just don’t care about fixing bugs anymore, there have been horrible tournament/game ruining bugs, like randomly getting eliminated for no reason in survival maps, auto win exploits by jumping into the middle of jump showdown for example, grabs simply not working and people floating on air due to desync on roll off, leading me onto the main reason why this game is simply unplayable. the servers are absolutely horrible, it could take a second for the servers to register movement, leading to getting slingshotted by other players, players phasing through obstacles and multiple players causing a “desync tornado” that flings any player caught in it flying, normally into the slime, and the devs aren’t doing ANYTHING about it.
I haven't played this game in a while because it won't let me play and keeps disconnecting me even if my internet is normal. I loved the game.

For me it failed when it moved to Epic. Spent about two weeks of constantly getting disconnected from games, massive lag, and just quit playing from there.

Personally I just felt there weren't enough minigames at launch, and unfortunately team-based games were ruined as the community just collectively agreed to gang up on gold-team. I still go back to try it out whenever new minigames drop, so long as the devs keep making content I'll keep playing.

I’ve always hated fall guys for several reasons. 1: a one in 60 chance of winning? Seriously? 2: team games are horrible because your team is usually trash. 3: hackers and glitches. 4: the trolling is unfair. 5: it’s mostly based on luck. 6: like why would you make the center fan. It’s almost impossible. 7: you can’t expose the cheaters!!!!!
Fortnite is a 1 in a 100 chance of winning, so is cod warzone and pretty much every battle royale, but people love those. Hackers aren't as common as they used to be, so it looks like you're basing it off of how it was a year ago. I rarely get trolled now, and if I do it's pretty easy to get out of the troll. If you've played the game for a while and and don't just run through everything with no train of thought, you'll realize that (,although some of it luck based,) the majority of maps do have some skill needed. You can expose the cheaters (if you find one in game nowadays) through fall guys discord, but no in-game so I guess I agree with you on that. Also, Fall Guys recently went F2P so it will def rise in player count for a while. Sorry if i seemed a bit mad there lol just my response, and sorry for making and entire damn essay.

All those you listed are YOU problems. If your teams trash, don't blame the game. It's not based on luck actually watch gameplay for once. Nobody even hacks anymore due to the addition of reporting. The center fan IS possible just get good. And if you don't like 1 in 60 chance of winning, play squads show or a different mode. Come back to me when you actually replay the game.

I still play fall guys and they made a lot of improvements. Crossplay and teams helps a lot with the multiplayer aspect. While the game's not dead, there's def a drop in players since you rarely get a full lobby anymore
In terms of the initial popularity, you totally glossed over the high marketing budget and the amount of youtubers/streamers that were paid the play/promote the game.
Same reason Among Us is on the decline now. Its the equivalent to like... 1-3 Mario Party minigames. There's only so much you can do before it gets repetitive
I stopped playing Fall Guys because it became too competitive but it was a really fun and funny game
90% of finals are RNG. You don't need to be good to win, unless it's roll off of jump showdown
A reason for me is the slow implementation of new rounds, I hoped that each season would feel more different from the previous one.
The falling scene could also change from time to time.
I think Rocket League, Fortnite and some other games don‘t get quality new gameplay content fast enough. (It feels like they are just existing until they maybe die or something new appears)
Also adding real crossplay (team-crossplay) to play with friends took a long time for Fall Guys.
Additionally the slideshow showing rounds beetween the rounds is pausing the experience and after that you get a white screen which is like they forgot that darkmode exists.
I think a black or darker colour would be better there, maybe also a loading symbol.
The problem with Fall Guys is essentially the problem of every single modern game. You cannot sustain a game solely on hype.

Literally played it a couple of days ago and the matchmaking for 60 players took less than 20 seconds. I’ve played the sh** out of it and I’ve never had an issue, never found a cheater, never had connection problems.

Ok, i loved fall guys, to me this is WAS the perfect battle royale, no microtransactions, a surprisingly competitive landscape, really rewarding wins, there was a point past s1 where i would boot up the game every day and grind for hours on end, nothing beat out this game for me, untill... Epic games services, yup, thats what killed the game for me, the fact that i had to use EGSe to play it made me so mad that i just left cold turkey, they could've made the game just better on steam and kept it consistent which is what i loved about it, but now i need stupid passthrough services to play my funny bean game, and sadly; i don't wanna have epic games spying on my pc, so i guess that was the end of an era for me, i left the game with 400 hours and all of the achievements done (one of only 2 of my games which i have 100% on steam) And thats not the worst of it, Fall guys is going to go F2P which to me just means that they are abandoning their old playerbase and pleasing new players, They are leaving the long time fans in the dirt and just trying to make a quick buck off of new people spending a few dollars on a skin, and so i just said: Hell no. and just left before that actually happened.
This game is 100% NOT dead just because fewer people play. We're still having fun. The only issue is that when too many people are on it can still kick you. That sort of disproves everything you said though because a dead game wouldn't have too many players.

Fall guys player here, now with over 400+ wins, the game is actually pretty fun! New maps, tons of outfits, it's now easier to get crowns, it's just a very fun game in general. If you have the cash laying around and you're super bored, hop on the game, so worth it

I mean... I'd argue it didn't fail at all really. Mediatonic got bought by Epic Games, and regardless of how you feel about Epic Games, that doesn't happen with most indie developers, unless they're STUPIDLY successful, which I'd say Fall Guys was at its peak. Honestly, I'm still waiting on those Switch and Xbox ports, they're not my most anticipated games, but I'll certainly be picking it up on Switch. The game itself is a very good concept, a Mario Party minigame battle royale? Sign me up! As for playerbase, it has a 30 day average of ~6,400 players, which for a sixty player battle royale means 100ish full games running at any given point, that's not a small amount of players really. And that's just accounting for Steam, I know that right now it's only out on Steam and Playstation, but after Switch and Xbox, that could easily be double in reality.
