I really like the character this track is painting. The sound is uplifting, but has these minor twists and falls, like it's tripping and climbing over an obstacle. It's determined, but discordant, hopeful almost in spite of itself. A little bit like a cowboy movie score, maybe?

The theme of the common, heroic guardsman fighting as a mere mortal man against the immensely terrifying horrors of the universe. This theme gives off indomitable human spirit vibes, a pebble stopping a landslide vibes, and stepping up to the challenge regardless of the odds vibes. I love this.

Been programming with this running in a loop for a while now. I think it fits well for a common guardsman. The trumpets herald the arrival of The Guard. The melody is simple with a melancholic tinge that then gets broken through as it progresses. Another battle won, losses taken. The Guard marches on.
