Btw I love the scene where Lin hallucinates that korra is young su. It hints that korra reminded of her younger, rebellious and sassy sister. That’s one reason why she was so hard on korra when they first met from the very first episode.
Suyin's actress was Anne Heche, who sadly passed away a few yeara ago

I love how different Lin and Su's bending styles are - Lin always seems more grounded (like traditional earthbending - unless she's being Spider-Lin) while Su moves like the circus-performer she was. It matches with their personalities perfectly as well.

I really love all the characters development we have on this season! And Korra metal bending is so cool, her bending style is so satisfying, my girl's trully a prodigy!

I like how in this Episode it clicked for me how Lin treated Korra in Season 1. She was the parallel of Su for her. When she came to Republic City she caused all that damage beating up the triple threats but she didn't face consequences because Tenzin bailed her out. I can see how Lin would project her frustration with Su on Korra.
Wtf is she's a parallel of su, lin is a cop and has to do her just protecting the city with so happens have Korra come in and destroy so properties in the name of "am the avatar"

Between the Beifongs arc and Zaheer's team, this season really has a different feel to it. Plus this season has much more focus on individual characters like Bolin (with his family and with Opal), Bumi experiencing airbending, etc... And while doing that it still hooks us to the main plot. Really great season. Plus the Beifongs are all dope! Toph really has great genes😌
11:12. It's funny that Bolin said this since as far as I can tell no named Avatar that we have seen has had any siblings.
Yangchen had an older sister not by blood cuz air nomads have a different family structure, but they were still siblings when it comes to their relationship. Kyoshi also had a younger brother, though that relationship is also not by blood

6:52. I was a teenager watching this show as it was airing, & from the very 1st episode I wondered if they were ever going to explain how Lin got her facial scar. Well, we had to wait until halfway into Season 3 for the answer, but it was worth it for the payoff.
I can understand Lin's "animosity" towards Su... I mean, she didn't exactly make her life easy LOL. But dammmmmmnnnnnn! "No wonder Tenzin ended things with you years ago!!!" BURN! My face was exactly the same as yours Dee! No you DIDN'T!!!
But I do like this relief moment:

Bolin: You don't have any siblings.... fighting is all part of the healing process.

I will always be team Lin. Waking up every morning with a permanent reminder of what her sister did to her must suck. Sucks even more when u realize Su wasn’t reprimanded at all and went on to live a good life while Lin has been dealing with all this burden while also dealing wit being the chief, protecting the avatar, losing her bending, trying to do right while everyone around her does wrong
In Su's defense though, Lin kept declining opportunities to talk things out. It's not Su's fault that she eventually decided to move on with her life and made a family and focused on that. You can't talk things out when the other doesn't want to, just like how you can't help someone when they don't want to be helped. Everything else that happened to Lin (with her bending, the Avatar, etc) is also not Su's fault.
It sucks that Su wasn't punished for what she did but at the same time, you have to acknowledge that she did indeed change and mature since then. Would've liked for her to at least apologize for the scar though.
This is the classic “Prodigal Son” parable. What people don’t talk about often enough is that the parable is about both sons. Su is the one that is rebellious and goes off on her own and makes a mess of her life but comes back to a righteous path quickly. Lin is the one that always is doing the “right thing” and becomes bitter for never being recognized or rewarded and for the other son being forgiven. At the end of the parable, the rebellious son is reconciled to the father while the dutiful son is estranged from his father and brother.
I remember loving seeing this backstory when this episode came out, especially seeing Toph again, and how different it was seeing her being police chief rather than “I can carry my own weight” Toph 😅

So after seeing Lin's past, it seems that the guilt she felt for what Toph had to do and how that supposedly affected her career made her develop this long-lasting grudge against her sister. Which is made that much worse when after 30 years, the source of her anger and frustration has been doing very well for herself and on top of that, was very happy all this time. It only added insult to injury for her, and then bringing up Tenzin breaking up with her finally made her explode. This is why bottling things up is not healthy lol.
With that said, after Lin released all that conflict within herself, her acting so happy and very upbeat afterwards reminded me of Zuko after he underwent his metamorphosis. I remember seeing a very peppy Lin unnerved me a bit lol same as really happy Zuko 😅
Toph's resolution for her upbringing started very early when she joined Aang at age 12. She was very much who she was at that age, but her time with Aang and the rest caused her to learn how to balance friendship and her emotions and experience a whole phase of adolescence independent from her parents. She opened up a lot. The comics go into her life shortly after Ozai's defeat where she started teaching metalbending, but then LOK took over and told how she became chief of police. Somehow, I figured her life prior to parenthood would have informed her a bit more. If Toph never truly emotionally matured, I'm surprised she had kids at all, unless both Su and Lin were accidents.

I said in a previous video about the fan theory of how Airbenders who survived the Fire Nation invasion hid in the Earth Kingdom & their descendants are the new Airbenders. Well, my perdonal theory is that The Duke from the original series was a descendent of a surviving Airbender & when he & Toph grew up they had Suyin, which is why Opal is an Airbender when her mother & brothers are Earth & Metalbenders.
The Duke and Toph had very similar skin tones tho, Suyin's skin tone is way darker. But it makes sense for you to think of him & Toph, The Duke is rumored to be Kanto too (Lin's dad). In Opal's case, to me is the opposite, Opal was gifted with the Airbending bc of her father, Baatar Sir. I do strongly believe Baatar Sir is a non-bender Air Nation descendant. I'm very sus of all non-benders actually, to me they're all Air Nation descendants keeping it low. LMAO
Worst part of LoK, which I love, is that Toph became a cop.

Hey Avatar Meesh and Avatar. How you two have been. I hope you two day is going well. "Happy Friday". Great episode I completely understand Lin anger towards Suyin once you get the flashback of the two.
I agree with Lin that Suyin should've served time for committing the crime with her friend. Instead of getting off easy. Even tho I understand Toph reasons for protecting her daughter. But I'm also disappointed in her that she used her position as chief of police to get her daughter off while I'm pretty sure the others got to serve time. In which I feel wasn't fair. Like i get she wanted to give her kids freedom but there's a point when you give a person little freedom and too much freedom. And Suyin got too much freedom. In which is an embarrassment on Toph. Because the way your kids turn out is on the parents decision to make sure the child stay on the correct path. Like a parent needs to be a great representation so the kids should follow.
I'm happy that Lin was able to let go of the past and move forward by apologizing to Opal as will building a good relationship with her niece. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing

I absolutely am on Lin's side in this drama. I really don't see why she's unreasonable. She's the one that got scarred for life and She got, most likely cheated on by Tenzin and a woman nearly 2 decades younger and for some reason everyone's surprised why she is a bitter grumpy lady and treating her as unreasonable.
I think it's more yes you are right to feel how you feel, but taking it out on other people is not the answer... especially on your niece, she had nothing to do with what happened.

Bolin wasn't wrong about siblings fighting. It's all part of the healing process, my brother and I did it a few times growing up. Keeping all the negativity bottled in is very unhealthy.

Su was in the wrong, toph was in the wrong and Lin was right but no one likes to point it out cos the show makes su loveable after the stupid decisions she made and y'all giving her credit for turning on a new leave ,so what about Lin that has done the right thing as always y'all don't give her credit cos somehow she isn't on korra side most of the time and the show makes u not as likeable as su
Not just because I'm bias to Lin but I always think she's right and never doubted that she had a deeper reason why she felt that way towards Su.

I think it's a bit more complicated than that. The question is "What make us decide if a decision was good or bad ?"
Toph and Su did wrong and Lin did good legally and moraly speaking. At that point in the time, Su needed to be punished for what she did. And because she was Toph daughter she needed to be more 'a model'. It's a hard job to do, and that weight for Su and Lin was a bad thing and they both handled it differently. By choosing to take the side of Su, Toph didn't punish Lin nor did she free Su from her obligation, she confronted herself and her sense of justice. But they all 'evolved' in their own way at that point.
In Kora current present, 'Was that a good decision ?' I think the answer is yes. And it's been a Yes for a while now. Putting Su in prison or creating an administrative warning could have been a weight impossible to remove legally. And could have been with Bad conséquences. Su needed guidance, Lin wanted some but didn't need it.
We don't see a false version of Su now. We see one that matured and grown up. Lin didn't change and evolve.
