I'm an international student and in Brazil I didn't learn Sig Figs. So my CHEM professor taught this really quickly in class and I was totally lost. With this video explanation I learned it. Thank you for taking your time to upload this video and teach many students around the world. ❤️

One thing university teach us: we give you the subject, material you need to learn, you may or may not understand prof but still have to research more. Don't expect people to explain things very clearly to you. Just research more instead of feeling frustrated. And to any who complain their own teachers, they are also researchers, their deep knowledge may not be taught to you clearly, but at least, they lead you the right way to learn, many people in their own self-study progess don't have anyone to guide, thus losing more time learning irrelevant knowledge. However, as you all found this precious video, you all have good learning skill, hope you all achieve your desired score.

For everyone who is having trouble with how 500+1.365 = 500. since there is no decimal to round off too, the 5 is the only SF is the first line and that is what you're going to round off. next the answer must have the same number of SF as the equation with the least after decimal. however since there is no decimal 5 is the only SF (since 00 are not SF) and after that fill in with 0's till you reach the decimal. Therefore you get 500. 501 is worry because there is 3 SF in the answer and you must only have one.

Why do they teach the basics faster than the critical once? Was it because they think it is easy ? When in fact this is one of the fundamentals and we can't actually go on to another topics without learning it clearly.
So, I think we must spend time to be familiarized enough with it. Btw. Thanks you're such a hero. Thanks it might save my failing grade in Chem and Chem Lab

31:30, when you add the 2 numbers 5.831 and 16.7004, the answer should be rounded to 3 decimal places! the rule is when adding of subtracting, to round answer to least number of decimal places in equation, hence 5.831 contains 3 d.p. so the answer isn't just "23"
