    Hi Billie. Christine from Beausejour Canada. I learned how to knit on a green pair of those needles. My granny gave them to me (her old needles) I received some fingering weight blue Jean colour alpaca yarn from hubby for Xmas and looking at ur sweater it inspired me to get some black holst super soft to hold with it and make a mock turtleneck sweater. Have a nice day. We did keep our snow for Xmas even though it has been super warm here

      Do you still have the needles you learned on? I do! Mine were turquoise size 6 US. Would love to see your future project. Sounds like it will be cozy. Maybe you can post it in the Show & Tell ravelry group for all to see.

    That shall is absolutely stunning. I’ve never seen a better tassel. You are right. It is a neutral. I’d even were it with cool browns. 😁

    🪶🫶Wonderful work as always from you Mrs. Billie! I love seeing your coordinated jewelry too; how sweet of your knitting friend to give you all those gifts! That little Russian brooch truly made me starstruck! I love anything yellow, orange, brown, (natural colors i guess) and I can't wait to see what you've got coming up to show us next! Lysm xoxo 🫶❤️

    Your ibiza shawl will be beautiful Billie, where did you get the cone of yarn from - it's a great colour and really suits you.
    What a wonderful present from your friend, that black and white enamel brooch is also beautiful.

      Katherine, the yarn is from Colourmart in the UK. They sell luxury yarn mill ends at great prices and ship rapidly to US. It's catch as catch can, though, so you can't usually get the same color again. Thanks for the good wishes. Back at you.

    Happy New Year when it arrives Billie and thanks for all your great work on this channel over the years - it seems a long time since Rox (I think) mentioned your first videos! So many beautiful things in this episode. I am so envious of your being able to join a knitting group. Those brooches are wonderful as are the colours of the vintage needles. I'm not a fan of lilac, but must say your scarf is making me reconsider. At first, I thought you were making a second Sirdar Cardigan with the white mohair - quite a similar pattern - but I have looked at it on Ravelry and see what you mean about it being like a bed-jacket. Did you wear these as a child? I certainly did, and keep thinking I must knit one. I like your idea of using satin ribbon. Do you have any tips on how to get your beret to lie so well? I think you have said before it's the Sari Nordlund one, which I have also made. Despite blocking with a plate, mine is determined to become beanie-shaped on wearing. Of course I watched to the end!

    • @ShowandTellknitting

      "Of course I watched to the end!" Of course I read to the end!! Thanks for appreciating my efforts. It means a lot. At first I belonged to no knitting groups....now I seem to have found several and I try to make the rounds. They don't all meet weekly, so that's a good thing. Wow! You've got a good memory to remember the Sirdar. It's one of the sweaters I throw on the most, but I don't envision ever knitting another. I try not to duplicate anything. The white floofy number will have a shorter untapered sleeve, no ribbing at the waist and no button band. I never wore a bed jacket as a child. I never knew anyone who did, other than Hollywood starlets on the silver screen eating bon-bons in bed. (I'm one step away from the latter.) As for my beret, yes, it is Sari Nordlund's Salut Cheri. I followed the instructions to the letter, as I recall. Must be the structure of the yarn that helps it hold up. I was thinking of doing a beret class after the New Year. Stay tuned.
      All the best.

    The smallest needles I have knitted with were self-made 0.5 mm needles. Some lace stuff for dollhouse inhabitants, silk thread.

    • @ShowandTellknitting
      @ShowandTellknitting  7 місяців тому

      You made your own needles? How???

    • @eeva-riikkavehniainen7597

      You take piano wire or similar metal wire with the circumference you want, then cut to desired length (mine were something between 15 and 20 cm, so 6 to 8 inches) and then just smoothen the ends. I used Dremel for that. I used to make them for sale back in the beginning of the century when they were not readily available for miniaturists, at least in Finland where I live

    • @ShowandTellknitting
      @ShowandTellknitting  7 місяців тому

      @@eeva-riikkavehniainen7597 I'm not familiar with piano wire or Dremel (I'll have to look that up!) Is piano wire stiff like a rod, or floppy?

      @eeva-riikkavehniainen7597 7 місяців тому

      @@ShowandTellknitting
      Piano wire is stiff, though 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm are a bit "springy" so not very easy to knit with. Dremel is an electric tool with all kinds of "heads". I have mainly used it for sanding, but some parts can be used for cutting, carving etc.
