I can see the benefit of both Cat Lady and Dog Lover. I think Cat Lady is wonderfully elegant and easy to teach to just about anyone. It also captures that 'cat hoarding' feel very well. It feels funny and is all about the cats. Dog Lover is less about collecting dogs per se, but more about pairing dogs with point-gaining traits and getting the most out of every single dog. The training cards also remind me a little of Roam and I think the mechanism fits very well here. I think Dog Lover feels like more of a gamer's game, while Cat Lady is the one I'd take out with a more general audience.
Solid take on the games!
When we were on a small trip we went into local game store and we saw this was finally in stock. We snapped up 2 copies; one for us and another for our dog sitter.
This game looks super cute!! My wife is a huge dog person and very particular on games(0 interest until she met me), so this might be another game that she'll play!!
Elisha isn't a dog person as much as a cat person, but she too was introduced to more modern board games by me. She's generally up to try just about any game though. In case you hadn't seen it, here's a little song parody she and I did last year that you might appreciate...

Thanks for the playthrough! Cat Lady is great fun (own the metal box as well) and nice to see this one looks fun too. Love both cats and dogs, so definitely looking to get this. Thanks for the defusing games at Halloween too! I had been wanting to see the progenitor to Don't Mess With Cthulhu after running demos for it at two Gen Con's in the before times.
If you like Cat Lady, I can't imagine you not having fun with this one. And yeah, Halloween Time Bomb was fun!
I just picked this game up for my wife. We love dogs and she's a light gamer. Really fun game.
Oh my, looks cool, thanks! We love Cat Lady and this one looks great. The only reason I could think for not getting it is that we just have too many games to play, but I do like the looks of the decision this one adds! Gamers in our family are more cat people too (I'm more of a dog person, but do love our cats)!
Would make for a great pairing of games the next time you play one. It's not wildly different, but I think from a mechanisms standpoint, I'd probably give the advantage to Dog Lover.

Ha! Every so often, there's a silly thing that happens on camera. ;)
I know you had the game already set up basically but can you explain where you are supposed to put the "end of the game" card in the deck. I am reading the instructions to the game and it is confusing. Your suppose to deal 7 cards (2 player game) then put the end of the game card on top of the 14 cards and put the rest of the deck on top of it? Are you then suppose to shuffle the cards again after that? So that means the end of the game will always have 14 cards underneath it? I have no idea what they mean. You don't start the game with ca
I understand the set up to be:
1. shuffle and deal 7 cards for a 2 player game (not 7 per player)
2. place the end of game card on top of those 7 cards
3. place the rest of the deck on top that stack so you have one deck (with the 7 and end of game card on the bottom)
4. deal 9 cards face up from that deck to create the 3x3 grid
Players don't have a starting hand. Hope that helps!

I really think that boils down to whether you'd prefer the cat theme or the dog theme. See Mariya's comment below, comparing the two. I don't think I could explain the differences better.
Do you think this game will get a Premium Edition like The Cat Lady got? I don't know if I should hold off because I really would love a Premium Edition for this game.
I'm not sure. I think it's possible it might not, as I don't think it met the same success as Cat Lady quite yet.
I was a "dog person" for most of my life, but when I met my husband, I fell in love with his cat and started the transition into a cat lady. :) Still love dogs, though...and I request a picture and description of Pepper in the Discord!
