great review, I got the Charge 2 and like it more than my previous Charge HR. I like the fact that you guys compare against so many other trackers.

after three months, fitbit charge 2 can not update, I don't know any other one has this same problem
I really enjoy my Charge 2. I'm losing weight. Only had it a week and a half! Don't know why adding food and tracking eating is tedious? I was surprised how easy it is?
Years later I picked one up in July 2021 new for $15.
It's simple and effective and I'll give it some leeway on the heart sensor +-10 so not to concerned about absolute accuracy. I have a strap for that.
It does fit funky on my wrist and is smaller than you think. Based on an average thumb (I'm a normal 5'10) you can cover the screen. It small.
So those with eyes that aren't 20/20 I'd maybe look elsewhere. I have 1.25 but can still read it ok.
Just got it as my blaze crapped out. This will be my last Fitbit if it craps out quickly. Garmin is in the batter box but for $15 I couldn't pass up a simple heart watch to see my sleep and everyday run abouts.

I'm keeping my Microsoft Band. It still works great as fitness band and smart watch. Regardless of what you've heard about the Microsoft Band, I recommend you try it out and see for yourself how effective it is. And it comes with built in GPS. No need to carry your phone around on a walk, hike, or jog.

Does the device use gps all the time?
it piggybacks off your phone's gps. you have to have your phone with you for it to work.
Fitbit Ionic and Versa have standalone GPS.

However all these apps and devices still require the phone to be present - which can be such a hassle when training. It is a shame there is no way to have a peripheral device that allows phones to be left in a locker or at home (a sufficient distance from the activity) but still communicated with he user.
In fact I think we can go considerable steps further - taking advantage of big data, gps and the internet giving a much smaller device more functionality; whilst maintaining a relationship with smart phones.
Not the vivosmart hr+ it has standalone gps.
Fissle Wine purchase a armband for phone then.
Get the Garmin Fenix. Leave the phone at home.

Don't use it for a silent alarm. You'll definitely sleep through it.
The sleep alarm always fails to wake me up, probably because it auto-snoozes after 4 vibrates... I feel like this feature is for those who go to sleep and the same time and wake up at the same time everyday, and their body naturally wakes up at the same time everyday.
