All you have to do is wait for Judge Simpson to summon Mr. Allen and it's game over for a defendant (more often than not).
@@CreightonRabs Yep, when Mr Allen is standing behind you but has not yet been instructed to take you into custody, you have a very short window of opportunity to radically change your tune and speak very well. And that *might* persuade Judge S to not give that order.
But then, it's a very slim range of people who are both smart enough to recognize that window and make use of it, *and* silly enough to have brought Mr Allen behind them in the first place.
What is the old addage? Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Did I hear the defendant's attorney correctly? Did she actually say "Request the court to considering discharging him from probation without Improvement"? She is actually okay with essentially saying "My client hasn't done anything on probation and since he hasn't, just let him go free"?

She meant discharge him from probation and charge him with what he was on probation for. Which is what the judge did. . .only he added a little jailtime to it.

About 28 seconds in to the video. As soon as she starts speaking Judge Simpson just shakes his head and says, 'Mr Allen' from that moment on you know he's made his decision, anything anyone else says is a wate of oxygen.

Ms Polara really does work hard to not reccomend revocation and jail, unfortunately the only times we see her are when those efforts come to naught, she really is underappreciated

These are cases from before he went to jail. That’s why he is asking for the sentences to be concurrent with his prison time. His conditions from release from prison probably requires him to resolves these cases. They aren’t new

Its gotta be difficult being a public defender, dealing with idiots who don't care and won't follow the rules.
We have judges in TX that would ban him from contact with minors until he's off probation... or for life.
And that would include his own kids.

Why are lawyers often as in 9 out of 10 cases that I've watched,not prepared? What they're say is " I think, maybe it was, around this date for about that long I'm not sure, I'll check, " Ben" told me to say this.. absolutely no proof he was in jail, he is employed, etc! I can't brkugve that chubby female lawyer came to face a judge with no research into her cases!! Why aren't they embarrassed? Why di they repeat this action if no action? Perhaps their reputation doesn't count? They don't care because the government is paying them whether they present a prepared case or not? In private practice attorneys usually know something ie dates where the criminal works out numerous paired in ft in ton the judge then relay supportive information to the judge. This lady did nothing. Zero! Simpson said at the end " out together something next time .." exactly! What an embarrassment she is to all lawyers--lazy.

She is quite thorough and comes prepared for the case. Not perfect but dedicated and knows how to research applicable case law and statutes. Judge Simpson regularly informs defendants of the competence of the public defenders before him and I will bet he thinks highly of her.
Who would want to make kids with that thing? His lawyer is new and not good.
