I think Lovecrafte's racism adds to the horror in a way. I wouldn't say I am very politically motivated in any sense with respect to the issue in general, but some of those moments you refer to are still enough to make me raise an eyebrow. Unsettles my modern sensibilities, and makes the world seem all the more alien and bizarre. Unintentional effect, but an interesting one I've noticed
This list looks very nice, I have only read the Ballad of Black Tom among the books mentioned. a very nice novel with well developed characters. you've gained a subscriber
House of leaves is my favorite book ever I think. The first read was super hard bit it got easier after watching a guide to reading it lol. First time I had to watch a walk through of a book lol

well, how about Lovecraft's main characteristic was that he was afraid of everything. But why not make it about race. Main populist matter these days.
I recommend Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. The simple premise is Scooby Doo meets Lovecraft. It was a very fun read.
I will have to give that one a try. I think I have seen it on other lists as well.

I have read most of those, so I am confident I will enjoy the rest.
Also as a rec, if you appreciate Sci Fi, try The Dark Forest trilogy. Tough read, but disturbing on a literal cosmic level.
Ooooh I will have to give that a try

Lovecraft was racist, reeeeeeeeeeee
His racism is exaggerated and no it was not unusual for his time.
Yeah he wrote about bigotry being a bad habit that drives you insane and is a waste of time and brainpower. I think it was in shadow over innsmouth.
