Viewers on our channel have watched the life story of Justin, a little boy we met in 2009 who was languishing in juvenile prison for a crime we later learned he never committed. When we met Justin behind bars, he was confused about his time in prison, as officials were working hard behind the scenes to get him transferred to a placement facility where he could get the help and services he needed.
In this video, we look back at Justin's time in prison and all the people behind the scenes who supported him along the way. We see him interacting with friends in the cell units, and talk to his "best friend" and mentor, Kate, as she tells us what life has been like for him in prison, and what she hopes for his future as she prepares to see him leave for his new placement facility. We then talk to the prison Superintendent about kids like Justin who wind up in juvenile prison, and how the prison has worked with Justin during his nearly 2 years behind bars.

I remember this guy, I’m really glad he’s doing better and to the lady who is his mother all I have to say to her is May God have mercy on her. I mean this boy who is now a young man has been through so much, so much that he never asked for I’m really glad he’s doing great.
She was not his mother she was his counselor at the prison he was at she was very motherly to him though
So glad Justin has been given opportunity to grow, learn and get a family that cares, love and understand him and achieve so much in his life Xx Well done Justin for overcoming adversity and learning to live in this complex multiple layered world that is so complicated and confusing for some people like you and me 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏🇬🇧🇬🇧💜💜

Idc that poor child man.. ugh my heart is breaking.. I honestly can't remember what his crime or issue was but I remember him from the last time with justin but it doesnt matter ..Justin buddy I pray for you and ik you are going to be OK.. I feel it in my heart... Lord watch over your child and be with him.. calm him down and show him the way as he grows older in a better place...
he touched some kids inappropriately because his foster parents wouldnt give him a pork chop at dinner and he figured that would make the grown ups mad
Justin truly makes me want to be in a position to help souls like him and watching his story through a few times now motivated me to do my social work degree and truly open my heart to people involved when I do. He slipped through the system but was blessed to come across professionals with big hearts too. His mother should be ashamed of herself but so proud of the young man she created who is working and driving through such difficulties.
If ever I get the chance I would love to foster with hopes to adopt a young soul like this. A little love and pointers in the right direction with support to follow through in everything he learns really did so much for him, and it's so decent how much he's grown since this first introduction to him.
Thank you for sharing his journey and to all involved in his care and changing things legally for other young souls in this position.

The fact that God lets kids like Justin go through such damaging circumstances, I don't understand ! I just don't understand. He's profoundly mentally delayed, because he spent his whole entire life in such a horrible situation. This is beyond sickening! These kids don't have an education like they should, and they live life as if they did something wrong. They have no say in the damage that's being done to them. I just don't understand. I saw the other video last April, and It's stuck with me. Here we have a sweet little boy, who just wants to live a normal life, and he can't. He can't because God allowed him to live a life like this! We don't even know where his real family is. I can't imagine what Justin is going to deal with for THE REST OF HIS LIFE! Where was God in this situation? God is said to give children great families, great parents, a great education, a great HOME! NOT AN INSTITUTION!

As it turned out, the charge he was in for never happened. A family member made up the story which led to his arrest. Unbelievably sad, but thankfully, he had a happy ending after all.
The question is what did Justin do to be tried as an adult and get so much time at such a young age?
Sadly, it took us 10 years to find out that the reason he was arrested was all a lie. It was made up story in order for him to be arrested so his family wouldn't have to take care of him anymore. We're told it isn't uncommon for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be accused of things they didn't do because it's so hard for them to defend themselves. :(

We are happy to report that Justin was eventually adopted by someone who mentored him when he was at Damar. He's doing great today and just turned 29 years old. Thank you for asking!
