It's just not this weapon, it's the entire UGS class! That poke is the only thing making these weapons viable.
I love the poke, but would love to have the old DS3 running r1s back.

@@inambience except the Zwei, with its classic poking R2. Also other swords are viable because of their AoW, but that’s the case for many weapons in this game

When my daughter was a newborn, I got in so many hours of game time between 2-16 weeks. She had trouble sleeping if she wasn't being held due to reflux, so we took shifts.
We also found that having my wife go to bed at 6-7pm (while I stayed up), wake up at 12-1am, I sleep until about 5-7am, and then she sleeps till 8-9am worked better than both trying to sleep and be woken up every 2 hours. Lets you get actual rest with the monitor off for awhile.

Man... I miss the Black Knight Ultra GS from Ds3, free aiming the heavy attack to hit people on the backswing to combo into the golfswing up. So satisfying...
I hope that the dlc will add a UGS with the overhead swing moveset!
I swear to god that RoB has a really serious glitch that occurs to most players when equipped. The glitch is that when RoB is equipped, all buttons on that person's controller will stop working except L2. That's the only way you can explain why most RoB users only mash L2. They are most likely unable to use other buttons while weilding the RoB.
The zweihander is a nice alternative option with poking heavy attacks (R2) that combos really well with the crouch pokes. (Although it does significantly less damage, the fashion & moveset make up for it)
These weapon showcase videos for Elden ring have been great so far, keep up the great work

I personally enjoy the "Golden Land" ash of war, the animation is identical to "Earthshaker", but it also has holy beams of light to chase a passive opponent. Big fan of STR/FAI builds.
I just posted this, only to see another person (you) back it up! Golden Land on the GS is really good. Immediate slam damage, then the AOE (if your first slam misses the rusher), then the holy pew-pews for ranged chip damage. Very versatile!

I love lion's claw on the Guts greatsword. Looks cool, scares people, and can even knock them prone if you get a solid hit!
It's fine in pve but its not good enough in pvp
@@KratosisGod It's infinite poise and insane damage output says otherwise. It also comes out a bit delayed so nice for rollcatches. It also has crazy good range+ literally front flip into sword slam like cmon.

@@KratosisGod I’ve smashed people with the lions claw in PvP, it takes timing and a bit of patience to use which is what makes it difficult. But it pays off in the end

Once again, I gotta say, I love the weapon showcase series. Always looking forward to them.
I really love using colossal swords in pvp. Personally the mind games are the most enjoyable part. Getting better at predicting what people will do, when you can’t hear their voice or see their face, feels really good. The restrictions to communication in the souls games have always made interactions feel more real. It’s what keeps pulling me back to pvp.

Fun thing i learned is that you can sprint while sneaking (it doesn’t effect your stealth, but thats another subject) and you fan do a running attack from that state as well. Catches some folk off guard

I wish colossal swords had the R1-R1 combo they had in DS3. Without it, the standard light attacks don't feel worth using in most circumstances, since many faster weapons out-damage a single R1

There was something to that true combo system that felt way more satisfying while doing pvp. Knowing you got the 2nd hit coming just felt good
@@kylebusc3624 right. I do see the positives of the new system though. Ganking was super easy with 2 guaranteed hits with long hit stun, especially if you had a mage with you. But we all know elden ring is one shot central. Imagine getting hit with 2 collosal lights and some brain dead gamer following up with a guaranteed giants hunt or lions claw, or some other ash of war etc etc.
The chance for redemption is really nice, but like Soldering Iron said... a light attack doesn't feel worth it. Maybe if they did more damage or were faster- it'd be nice. I dunno though. Mostly speculating atm. Doesn't feel good sweating to get rekt by BHS or rivers. Achievements are always nice though- regardless of imbalance, which what makes the game so fun sometimes.
@@kylebusc3624 but then again storm stomp light is the same issue I'm playing "devils advocate" to, to a degree... so I dunno.

Definitely my favorite weapon for pve and pvp, royal knights resolve is great for bosses, thanks for the showcase! Coded Sword would be an interesting straight sword to see in action.

Fantastic showcase. For future videos like this, may I suggest you also talk about ways to counter the weapon you're showcasing? That can be useful both for people going against it and for the user, in order to know what opposing weapons and tactics to be mindful of
Been loving these so much, cant wait till you reach daggers like reduvia etc and show us ways to make them work since daggers are on the weaker end for pvp. Seeing some combos you pull off would help alot

have you thought about adding the fortification incantations to all or most of your builds? they only require 10 fth and gives 35% negation in their respective stats for 90 sec. kinda sounds like a good deal

The more I watch pvp videos and pvp myself, the more i realize that pierce/poke weapons and attacks are pretty much the best. Halberds rule, spears rule, thrusting swords rule, and even here with a colossal sword, the best attack is the poke attack. Luckily, halberds are my favorite weapon type and heavy thrusting swords are quickly becoming my 2nd favorite! But this does kind of make me wish they would show some love to hammers, since they used to be one of my favorite weapon types, but this time around they feel a little lacking.
Knight of God is such a chad, I guess he tried to recreate the true, ultimate form of hardest ER boss, the infamous conqueror of galaxies, enslaver of dragons, lord of eternity, Soldier of GODrick himself!
Tho Chase is so OP that even Soldier of Godrick can't stop him
I love that you can just stick your great sword out into the middle of nowhere and still hits every player on the map

Yes, this. I love power stancing greatswords, so many cool ones to play with too.
Great video - btw, you can double crouch while sprinting and still get a crouch attack while upright sprinting if done quickly. You also regenerate stamina for a bit. Can be used to sprint infinitely in combat as well no r1 required.

The Estoc has been really good for me in PvP, it’s got good mix-ups since the light attacks are pokes and the heavy attacks are slashes

One thing I've found that catches people off guard is the quick light attack you can do after pressing the dodgeroll button to jump backwards, you begin the jump back and can launch into the forwarding moving overhead very quickly to punish

You can also hold sprint, crouch, uncrouch and press r1 during the sprint and if you do it within 4 steps you'll do a rolling attack during the sprint.
Chase I think you might like phantom slash for an ash of war, it hits really hard and is good for altering your timing so you can mix up your attacks.
The zweihander running heavy is one of my favourite attacks in invasions. Combine that with crouch poke and you just create a fun dynamic.
Hell yes great showcase! I always Love a good greatsword fight, I put waves of darkness on mine too recently been trying it so far its cool but the timing can be tricky I might stick with it though it’s just too fun.
Had to tune in for this one. You tear it up with the great sword!

The Nightrider flail is great. Especially if you dual wield with the Flail and make them both Cold, crouch L1 just murders doing Bleed(90) and Frostbite(210). It can't be parried, but you can still do critical attacks with it. The flails are mainly dex weapons, although Family Heads and Bastard Stars both require some int, and the Chainlink flail is strength based.
The crouch poke combos with an off hand thrusting sword r1 which also benefits from the spear talisman

I'd love to see a showcase of great hammers like the great stars or (rotten?) battle hammer/brick hammer (possible dual wield... maybe?). Love your content bro!
Love the greatsword. Love Lion's claw. Then I got to the subterranean shunning grounds imp/pipe area and the excellent tracking of lion's claw on fast moving imps kept rotating me 90 degrees causing me to fall to my doom. Rage was had. Even without lion's claw the weighty R1/2's swung me around a fair bit and it always felt like I was inches from death. Steamrolled literally all of the rest of the game just that one sub area drove me insane.

I would recommend trying out dual wielding the noble slender swords for a dex showcase.
In duels... I like to run slightly to the left then to the right to mix it into running attach. It comes out faster than people expect I guess
you should try powerstancing antspur rapiers with blood affinity. great roll catching and the reach is good even though they're short because the player model lunges forward. also exceptionally fast, light, and very little stamina drain per attack
Was not expecting to see waves of darkness, but I can't complain about one of my favorite ashes getting shown off. (Ps. Please do the Flamberge soon, blood/occult infusion on that thing with high ARC is so fun to use)
Really nice showcase, I used it even before the buff, it's one of my favourite weapons, kinda bummed since you didn't use lion's claw on it, but that's alright, good video.

Lion's Claw is one of my favorite ashes of war for the Greatsword. Hits like a truck, but can be somewhat difficult to hit in pvp
seeing the wing of astel for when you do a somber weapon would be cool also love the content!

I’ve seen a video recently that argues the Zweihander is the best colossal sword because of that.
But I haven’t tried is myself yet- I’m a bit occupied with my newborn.

Hey @Chasethebro , have you ever tried Barbaric roar with the greatsword? I've been trying pvp because of how much I enjoy your content. That ash is one I recently tried and it worked really well when swarmed. It hits most targets that are near you and seems to be unexpected. Thanks again for thr content.

I was expecting you to do a showcase about the Zweihander over the Ultra, I've been loving that one's R2 far more for even more ranged roll catches, even if the damage is a bit lower than the Ultra

I’ve been using the storm blade ash of war and it seems to scale from both strength and dexterity. It’s description states that it can be launched rapidly. It’s dmg goes up each attack similar to heavy or light attacks. I don’t pvp much and when I do I don’t often do well regardless which ash of war I use so I don’t know how well it will work for pvp.
I would love to see a Flamberge Build, i love this weapon from the older Games and i wanna make an Invasion Build with it, so knowing what could be the best Stats for it.
Oh man another one. You are killing it bro. I know people hate on the crouch R1 for this weapon but I love it. Best thing FROM could have done for this weapon class to make it much more useful in fights.
I agree, but it killed the other colossal weapons. One doesn't have any reason for using anything other than a gratswors. And honestly feels a little bit unrealistic to see the poke so fast and with so slow recovery. At least make it punishable and slower to recover from
Hey Chase, love the content! Give Lion’s Claw a try on Greatsword. I’ve been using it to pretty good effect after a neutral R1 when people think I’m going to roll.

Another good ugs is golden troll with fire infusion, the weapon has good basedmg so it pairs well with fire ashes.
Can you do the great Epee next? Its by far my favourite thrusting sword.

My favorite weapon on the game I have been able to slap around p much most of the game and since I’ve invested into a lot of vigor I can trade pretty safe and be pretty sure that if I land my lions claw it’ll SLAP this sword is great because you can get it early game and it helps you put in a lot of work vs early game bosses
