I did a run time test on this product using a 4ah battery. It took all night until it got to 3 bars. It lasted about another 9 hours until it got to 2 bars. And then I waited until it died and it died with a total of 31 hours and 26 minutes until it died.
Was that an HP 4.0 mAh batter or regular 4.0mAh battery? either way, that's bonkers runtime !!! Great emergency light that will last a very, very very.... very long time ! And durable !
Most of the tools you review I can not comment on, but Ryobi I can, while I don't have this particular light I do have a bunch of their other products. These tools are perfect for what I use them for, and that is occasional home/farm DIY projects. Home Depot is found almost in all large towns, have an extensive lineup of tools and all of them can use the different batteries made by them as long as they are the same voltage. With that said these tools are not made for the professional, they simply won't last long under heavy use ( I know from experience, at least most of them won't), but for someone that uses them on an occasional basis they are more than adequate.
Don't be silly, I was using Ryobi professionally decades ago, long before the quality increases that they've made in the past few years. Will they stand up to as much abuse? No. Don't abuse tools. Will the last as long in general? No, but usually the cost per hour use is lower than some contractor grade brand that chimps like to drool over. There's the thing, you burn out a Ryobi drill and a bare tool replacement can be had on Amazon for $30, and yet, I have never burnt out a Ryobi drill. If a professional states they can't do their job without the "best" tools, it tells you more about their incompetence using tools than anything else. Pros were getting jobs done for decades using tools that were nowhere near as sturdy, powerful, and well designed as they are today, including Ryboi's tools. If you can't do the same job with a better tool, you aren't really a pro, just a handyman masquerading as one.
I bought it yesterday love it I hated it the old model it got too hot and if it fell the bulb stopped working and have to replace bulb and there like 10 dollars I better off bought this gonna buy one more and save reciets it already has a 3 year warranty great review keep it up
You should do a torque test video on the Ryobi P261 1/2 inch impact. I know TTI rates it at 300 lb ft. I would be curious to see how accurate that is. Mine has came in handy numerous times working on suspension parts where I couldn't get a long breaker bar or on bolts that wouldn't loosen with a breaker bar.
Great video! nice to see them update & upgrade there light I know alot off ppl did not like the old style type they had before.. Also I know this has nothing to do with the flashlight but you have a Awesome collection of old signs in the background!! I always notice in your videos I like to collect alot of vintage things but man you got some nice ones!!
Thanks Mark! And yep, I like the old signs.....whenever I find them I try and get more. If you want "old looking" signs that aren't real (but WAY cheaper), check out Hobby Lobby.....they are normally 50% off.
Real Tool Reviews Thanks man yea I'll definitely have to check that out! I always keep my eye out for good ones like some that you have they're great for the garage or shop even in the house if the wife let's me lol & some are worth a little bit of money really good investments I think. I really like the old gas ones the most & the old oil ones. Definitely going to check out that website though, i didn't know they had remakes like that, be good for some gifts this Christmas. Thanks again!!
Looks like I'm going to home depot tomorrow... Great review. I'm sure you're busy, but got anymore plans for some new podcasts? I really enjoy listening on my hour long commute to work. Thanks.
Thanks! And yes, but I got in trouble with the cops for driving around wearing my headphones......I thought it was "hands free", but apparently they don't agree........I am waiting on another mic that won't pick up so much background noise & then will be adding new ones.

That's pretty bright for how little the led is. For $20 I think ill upgrade when I break my bulb style one. I know I could replace the bulb with an led bulb but for that price I will just buy this
Not at all, they could have put at least a 3W LED in, or even 5W with some heatsinking metal behind it and it would be no larger. FYI theirs is running at around 1.5W.
As with the voltage regulation of any LED light, this one also certainly must emit a small amount of heat. Luckily they vented the head, however... so the LED and heatsink should stay fairly cool.
Well, led’s aren’t 100% efficient so ofc there’s still some heat. The most efficient led bulbs can run up to 85% efficiency, 15% is lost as heat through circuitry and the led itself. The only ones I know of sold commercially is the Dubai lamps. Compared to the USA less, the Dubai bulbs run cooler and less energy for the same amount of light output. Why? As you increase the output power the efficiency of led’s drop. Dubai bulbs run 3x the amount of Filaments at a fraction the power, achieving the same amount of brightness for less power. The Dubai 3w bulb produces 600 lumens. That’s 200 lumens per watt. While the usa bulbs, same manufacturer/brand, 8.8watts for 800 lumens. 90lumens per watt. Another name brand 6.5watt for 600 lumens. 92lumens per watt. The Dubai are 85%, most bulbs in the us and other parts of the world only run around 50% efficient, the rest is lost as heat.
This product is disappointing. For about $1 more they could have thrown at least a 3W Cree LED in and a basic aluminum plate to heatsink it, at least doubling the lumens. The video states 2W but I write 1.5W below because at their lumen rating they shouldn't need more than 1.5W actual drive current. I don't think anyone needs their light to run 30+ hours on a charge (except possibly in a natural disaster) but almost everyone would appreciate doubling the light output if not even more. I am guessing they made it so weak so it didn't compete with their higher powered lights, but by 2016 stanfards let alone today, it is quite pathetic to make it only 1.5W. Heck my 1 xAA EDC light beats that and is a fraction of the size, and didn't cost more either. If they're only going to make it this weak, heck they could just throw a little LED and plate on every battery pack and have it be a flashlight WITHOUT a separate head unit so it could be used on every tool instead of the even more pathetic little LEDs they put on most tools now. If you're running a tool that uses 6A+ current anyway, it is well worth it to have the LED light on it using a mere 150mA more. It might even speed up your work to where it saves rather than uses any extra current.
Best ever flashlight goin unfortunately, it's out of production and anything available now are 🤡lights - Corporations should *never* listen to Consumer recommendations.
Most products need to have weaknesses built in, so they will break fairly quickly and you’ll need to buy another. Some brands are MUCH better than others with saving the end-user cash and keeping the tools running long term….. ryobi batteries today still power their tools from 20 years ago!
@@RealToolReviews I won't buy anything with Ryobi brand batteries in them anymore. Had two new generation batts that both went bad within 2 weeks. I just knew the 2nd one would fail. True, I have batts from 30 years ago that do still work. But i'm not taking the chance anymore...cheap asian knock offs for me from now on.
@@RealToolReviews I'm sure it's the built-in safety/charging circuits in the new stuff. I've pulled them apart and each cell tests perfectly good at 3.5 volts I use them for small electronics projects...cheap stereo, lamps etc. but not worth it ( you can buy lithium cells a lot cheaper )
Well dang, you spend the whote review --plugging Ryobi tools! Could've used your real help. I'm already sold but this flashlight sucks! Tried to buy LED from Home Depot but it wouldn't work in the flashlight. SPECIFICALLY what bulb will work in this flashlight????? Just spent 4 days without power due to Hurricane Michael, in Florida panhandle... Your review was no help whatsoever You should at least change the title... waste of time.
Right now you must be feeling pretty foolish. This has the LED built in, but if you were trying to LED upgrade the older P704 incandescent light Ryobi makes, it takes any standard LED retrofit/drop-in designated for 18V. Frankly they're hardly worth the bother as the form factor of the bulb limits it to about 1W which is not very bright for a light that size running an LED bulb, BUT at least you would have high runtime, perhaps approaching 50 hrs on the 4Ah battery they offer.
I did a run time test on this product using a 4ah battery. It took all night until it got to 3 bars. It lasted about another 9 hours until it got to 2 bars. And then I waited until it died and it died with a total of 31 hours and 26 minutes until it died.

looks quite good and its relatively cheap, might pick one up seeing as i have the ryobi bug and 2 of the bigger batteries

That's my plan. Once I drop my old one and the bulb breaks I mine as well upgrade to this
Probably turn the old one into a usb adapter to use it as a battery pack.
Daniel Gomez all you had to do is to replace a bulb to LED on your older model. 🙈
@@patgriffes9659 I had mine for 5 years still going strong I seen it as cheap at $10 dollars at direct tools

You are so knowledgeable I want to buy my husband all tools that you review
Karen Gregory teach my wife your ways please lol
Hes a lucky man, I need a wife like you, have you any sisters lol
Karen Gregory I wish I'm your husband...lol
My Ryobi combo kit came with the old bulb version ... Is it possible to transform it to LED ?
Technically yes, but from what I have gathered you are better off just buying another light designed for led.
I was looking to replace my bulb for my old one+. Bulb pack of 5 is $10. I'm now thinking I'll just get the new l.e.d. light.

very good review, thanks!
Bright enough for most uses. About 200 lumens. It is as bright as my 2aa flashlights that state 200 lumens.
Oh ya that's a cool little light thanks for the vid
Is this the same as the R18T-0 ? Thanks.
Yes it is the same light. Ryobi just uses more cryptic number-names in some regions outside of the US.
Got the older ryobi flash light. Just upgrade the bulb to a led . No need to upgrade if you already own a older one.
Have a bulb number that u used?
