It's great to go out there with a goal. But it's important to keep evaluating our safety, how we are feeling, and whether or not we are enjoying ourselves. Some days we'll crush it, and some days we'll turn around earlier than planned and get home to have dinner with friends. It's all good, and I appreciate your realness in showing us both.
Heck yeah, that's a win, Taylor! 7 miles of mountain snow-shoeing has to be comparable to like 15 of hiking. 💪 You turned around for all the right reasons. Enjoy dinnah with friends! ✌️
i always enjoy your videos , you are always a smart SAFETY minded hiker and i admire you for that . I remember the high water on the AT . looking forward to your next adventure
@@TaylortheNahamshaHiker thanks - I thought it was a melanzana but wasn't sure. My wife was wondering and I had to break it to her that they were basically impossible to find 😅
Full-time training for AT 2024 has begun for me, and this makes me feel great because i was just there trying to do the same thing! The three miles I did nearly killed me. The snow was so deep and slushy that I might as well have been marching for the troops. It took about three hours just to go that far with proper gear. Hearing the ice sheets over rockfaces crack underneath me was terrifying. Maybe for Christmas next year I will ask for crampons lol. As always loved this!!! :)
Hi Taylor! I know you have done a video on your watch before, but I was wondering if you can do another more detailed video about choosing a trail and uploading it to the watch to be able to follow it? Thanks!
I wonder what the skiers think when they see a hiker come out of the woods. This was a "win" hike and doi g something new for you and us. You did 7 1/2 tough miles of breaking trail. You always hike smart and safe, and that is a greatblesson for all. If you didn't take the shorter yrail, you wouldn't have been able to meet your friends for dinner, sooooo, it was definitely a great and successful day. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad the snow shoes worked for you. Love the videos. 😊
Hi there Nahamsha! Thanks for always keeping safety in mind! So many novice Trekkers get in real trouble when they don’t. You are a great Guide! BTW by the time I saw this, I know y’all got slammed with snow- hoping you got the lights back on! ☮️
that storm, right?🤣 we only waited all winter for it! Taylor, once you reach the first peak, does the brt follow a ridge line for the most part? that was some tough slogging there, and snowshoes yes, make it better, and yes, make it harder--for me anyways. wet snow and gravity, hmm, not fun. the trail looks really pretty! thanks for bringing us along
Nice work Taylor! I was so close to bailing on doing the Hancocks last Saturday after the storm and hitting the BRT. Hancocks was the better choice it looks like!
I have a very expensive pair of snowshoes (Xmas gift) and used them 1 winter (when we actually got snow in Metro NYC) .. I would love to test them out in Vermont or New Hemisphere someday.
Hey Taylor! I want to do that hike too. Do you know how long the road walk is from Mt. Major to the Gunstock Ski area’s parking lot? I guess I could do a there and back with an overnight at Gunstock Campground too. 🤔
Never using snow shoes I soulfully imagine they require more energy & emphasize different legs muscle & technique over walking without them. Do you use your calf & upper thigh muscle groups more? You seem to step higher & is your stride less in length? 7 plus miles in the conditions shown is a winner in my book plus great conversation starter for dinner out with friends; “ what have you been up to lately “? Was the light blue jacket a rain jacket or a special winter hiking jacket? I do enjoy your vlogs. ❤😊
The reason why you have problems with your snowshoes falling off is you’re using inappropriate winter footwear. Just an observation from a long term outdoor retail employee and a professional mountain guide. Good decision making for altering your plans. Which you’ve always done.
I think the real key is being safe. Modeling safe decisions in winter hiking is key - way too many stories of deaths in the whites are clearly people making poor decisions while winter hiking, as opposed to bad luck.
You are wise to call it. Over 7 miles is awesome. Thank you
Nice

Love to listen to the way you verbalize your decision-making, weighing all the different factors.
Nice
Taylor, I’m so glad you listen to your body and brain to stay safe.
Very smart choice. Always listen to your gut. Especially out there by yourself. Very nice hike and a good workout I'm sure!!
Nice
Avalanche warnings and then an actual avalanche at Mt Washington! Safety always comes first.

Snow looked beautiful. Safe travels.
Thanks for taking us along. I’ll take this over Florida any day. I have hiked that trail on one of my trips to Nahamsha 😊
Nice
Every day you inspire your peeps is a win.
Nice
Oh my! That was quite an adventure!
I was exhausted just watching you. 7 miles breaking trail is unreal. I bet you slept well that night!
Nice

You shoeing three peaks and being safe made this a great video. Great job!
Nice
Taylor. Have you ever gone spelunking? We go hiking & caving. Combination.
Nice
Looks like a great single-day thru-hike in a month or so. Thanks for sharing.
Yes it would be great to see this trail on a nice warm sunny day!
Nice
Breaking trail is exhausting. I do it sometimes when XC skiing and the same trail can take twice as long to traverse.
Nice
Well done. Wise decision.
Nice
Good call Taylor!
I think it is awesome that you show how to have a good time but, also be safe at the same time!
Smart move Taylor.👍
That looked like fun but exhausting. Thanks for sharing.
Do the snow baskets on your trekking poles really help? Matter?
you made the right decision for sure. That was still a legit hike.
That storm was awesome I'm in Wolfeboro we got 14 inches but elevation got 24 plus.
Taylor just in case you're missing the Florida humidity It is only 85% today.....😂
What kind of fleece hoodie is that?
Looks like a cool trail that would be much better on a sunny day 🌞
It's the wind pro hoodie from melanzana. And i cant wait to try this hike again in the summer!

Great decision, thanks for taking us!
Smart hikers get to hike again.👍👍👍
Thank you for showing us how calling it is smart!
I live local and have never done the entire Belknap range. I guess I will have to do it once the snow melts off.
Great hike and definitely the right decision. I, would have not been able to continue after first summit.

Thanks for the video! I enjoyed watching.
A wise decision!

Did Taylor really say no BS in her LMNT commercial? 😂👍
It's in the talking points they give me! 😆
Taylor I knew it! You are near angel status, so I figured that must've been scripted for you...🤣❤️😇🙏🏻
It always seems sort of strange at the end of a hike when my car is the only one in the lot.
Much better than Florida 😂 thanks for sharing!
The snow is so pretty
What kind of lunch box is that? Thanks
CAN YOU EXPAND ON THE STRAVA WATCH???
IS IT CONNECTED TO STARLINK OR SOMETHING???
I do have a whole video about this watch. It's called the coros apex pro 2
Did gunstuck make you have a uphill pass? As far as I knew, we need a uphill pass to hike that side of gunstock in the winter. Is that not correct ?
I didn't need an uphill pass, I didn't actually hike on any of the ski trails

Way to go!

Hello Taylor
Ppl that live in snow just blow my mind , I’m about CA weather AZ summers desert environments , I’d be whining my ass off about the cold
The reason why you have problems with your snowshoes falling off is you’re using inappropriate winter footwear. Just an observation from a long term outdoor retail employee and a professional mountain guide. Good decision making for altering your plans. Which you’ve always done.
So what is your suggestion re appropriate footwear?
Nice
Breaking trail is exhausting. No need to apologize for decreasing miles and enjoying dinner with friends 🙂
Taylor IMO this hike is too hard in the winter... Would love to see you do it in the summertime! 😊🥰👍👏🏻🏔️🏕️🐻🦊🐰🪱🐝🐞🐢🐍🦌
