Richard Wagner is my favourite composer and Lorin Maazel's arrangement and performance of this adaptation of this masterpiece is beyond words. The Berliner Philharmoniker has proven yet again what a world leading orchestra it is. Bravo.

Wagner, the great painter of the orchestral palette, he paints with the musical instruments all the sorrows and tribulatios of the human soul.

Wagner, the master of the masters knew how to bring Schopenhauer's philosophy into music and make it visual - just absolutely sublime and magnificent. Of course, to deliver a superb performance, nothing like American conductor Lorin Maazel, one of the greatest conductors of the XX Century. He was to Wagner like conductor Valery Gergiev is to Prokofiev. So proud of my Western culture and civilization and this gift for all the world to enjoy.

I can NOT believe this - I've found my most favourite recording by the late great Lorin Maazel of Wagner's The Ring Without Words. I listen to it almost every day and always when driving! What I did not know is that this piece was arranged by Maazel himself. So thank you
TALOSQUATTRORETURN for this. When I listen to it on the computer - no ads! I guess I'm in for a disappointment if I turn it on when driving. How is it possible for youtube to desecrate something so beautiful and uplifiting - shame on them.

No matter how tall the son is. Father will always be Father. There are multiple recordings of Wagner's The Ring Without Words developed by Lorin Maazel and all are excellent in their own respect, but this one conducted by Maestro Lorin Maazel himself is excellent without boundaries. I personally feel as if God helped the Wagner in creating this opera "The Ring of Nibelungen", but Lorin Maazel remastered this epic as per taste of 21st century to give it a new life.

Would anyone know if a recording was made of this particular session? It would be great to have it on CD or vinyl.

Yes. The same maestro Maazel and the same orchestra recorded this for TELARC in 1988. Looking for it!!

Actually, it's great to have this on download. There's little compression (if any), and it has a very high bit-rate. Your ears are unlikely to be able to tell any difference between this and the Telarc, (and it won't have the surface noises that accrue on a vinyl pressing).

I enjoy Wager, this composition exceeded my expectations, beautiful, preferring most classical music without words, listening to Wager operas, it was no wonder he was Hitlers favorite, composer…
