Sarah, I could watch you paint all day! Your explanations are top notch, you have such an eye for detail and such a soothing voice. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful art and these super helpful tips & tricks with us. The world is a better place with your art 💜💜💜
This was fun and hard all at the same time! Can we do a reindeer one?!? I fell in love with them in Alaska and there are so many amazing things to know and learn about them. Plus, they ate adorable.
super tutorial Sarah! You described everything so easily and thoroughly. Thank you!! (and thank you Keenan for throwing in the tidbits of information on elephants!)
I've been subscribing since March 2020. Thank you so much for this instruction. I use to paint in college and then stopped and LMA was a great way to get back into it. I am totally hooked and I have learned a lot. I am not only learning painting techniques but your lessons on reflection, patience, and kindness are important parts of painting too. You are wonderful!
That is still one of my favorite weeks of videos from LMA When Sarah says look at that bloom and Kennan says that my favorite part and Sarah gets rid of it And then the next video the next day Jesse video comes out and she does some painting and Kennan says he loves it and Jesse says okay let’s keep it and do more of it! I thought it perfectly highlighted the types of friendships/ time working together between them lol
intently watching the Elephant Friends tutorial using my wireless earbuds. One earbuds falls out and BAM! I’ve got Sarah introducing another tutorial, try to catch the earbud and BAM! It’s Al dancing at the beginning of a live tutorial!!!! (Flowering cactus?) Holy Cow! Al Dancing! You all do such a great job!!!
I just love this whole video~ ESP., as you two were talking~ But one of the funniest things is that while you first started out talking, you introduced us to your friend “Freddie the Fly”, and I had my friend Fredricka the Fly” that landed on me at exactly the same time!!!
Normally I paint using watercolour tube paints, but I've recently tried using fountain pen inks as if they were liquid watercolour. Would you suggest trying to paint using the ink, which is also vibrant and dye based when following the tutorials as I can probably use colours that are closer? Or use my standard watercolours and mix my grey the way I normally would (ie burnt umber + ultramarine, etc)?
Loved the tutorial. Since I already have the materials can I please purchase the digital outline separately? I looked on the website and did not see it available other than the kit? Thank you.
The Dr PH Martin Hydrus liquid watercolor paint is actually pigment based and is light fast. But the Dr PH Martin Radiance liquid watercolor paint is dye based and is not light fast.
How fun and what a great idea!! We would totally love to see their work. If you email us at hello@letsmakeart.com our fabulous Customer Happiness team will share your photo with the rest of our team. Thank you and your friends for creating along with us!!
Hi Waylazy! Krylon makes a great UV Protectant spray. Sarah has also advised using Dorlands Wax to protect your paintings. UV protectant glass in your frames also helps.
Serious question - I got all the way through the medium was (around 41:43). Then I had to go and the painting dried. Now that I am putting in the darker values I am having a hard time getting them to blend with the washes that I already put down. What can I do to get the values to blend?
It can help to practice washes on a spare piece of paper. Sarah teaches a great method in the Watercolor Beginner Series- Episode 3. You can watch it here: www.letsmakeart.com/pages/learn-watercolor
What Sarah says: These elephants are going to look real weird until the very end. What actually happens: My elephants look real weird, especially at the very end.

Wow, thank you!

Sarah you do such a great job explaining things. It is hard to convey a lot of these pieces of info but you do it so well.
Glad you think so!
I love your love of colour. I agree - we need to embrace and challenge ourselves. Love this. Thank you for sharing

Well that definitely was a surprise wasn't it? Hopefully your earbuds decided to stay in place after that.
My best painting ever! I painted it all with one color - Przybysz's gray by Szmal. It's perfect gray-violet mixture.
You could do a lot of fun things with the background if you wanted to. Like giant jungle leaves. But I also love the fresh white paper too.
The options are endless!
This is so sweet! Reminds me of Disney's "Dumbo". Thank you for your wonderful tips and guidance! ❤
You are so welcome!
very romantic painting , i like the color combination you used that create a peaceful illusion in this artwork. Keep it up, well done , carry on.
I love this.
Thank you
Keenan is my favorite!

Oh no! That must be Freddie's long lost cousin.
Oh m&m popcorn is so yummy!!!
So strange and soooo funny~ Cuz as I am finishing up watching this great video, it is STILL pestering me!!! 😂😂😂

Oscar is more than good, he's Cool!!! ;-)
I wanted to try ph martins radiant paint. I would like to just buy the 3 primaries (I love mixing my own colors) which 3 would you recommend?
True Blue, Daffodil Yellow, and Crimson would be a good start.
Loved the tutorial. Since I already have the materials can I please purchase the digital outline separately? I looked on the website and did not see it available other than the kit? Thank you.
Hi! The Elephant Friends outline can be found on our website here: www.letsmakeart.com/pages/elephant-friends-project
@@LetsMakeArt thank you

Thank you!! I was always wondering the difference
I confirm for Babar the elephant. I used to watch the show.
I’ve been using a few of your lessons with a few Senior friends and they are all doing fabulous! (Wish I k ew how to attach a photo of their work)
How fun and what a great idea!! We would totally love to see their work. If you email us at hello@letsmakeart.com our fabulous Customer Happiness team will share your photo with the rest of our team. Thank you and your friends for creating along with us!!

I love the vibrant colors, but if they fade, is there a video on how to preserve and protect the vibrancy? Maybe a uv spray sealant?
Hi Waylazy! Krylon makes a great UV Protectant spray. Sarah has also advised using Dorlands Wax to protect your paintings. UV protectant glass in your frames also helps.
Nice technique. Thank you for this
We hope you enjoy painting it! We would love to see how yours turns out.

I have a difficult time doing the light washes, i always have too much color.

What Sarah says:
These elephants are going to look real weird until the very end.
What actually happens:
My elephants look real weird, especially at the very end.
Maybe that just means you aren't quite finished yet? Or they were just a great practice round.
Who's Oscar? A frigde? Airconditioning?
Oscar is the air conditioning unit. He tends to be loud and loves to jump in at the most inopportune moments.
