Anyone else craving simplicity in their wardrobe this year?

    • @AlishaGarciax
      @AlishaGarciax 2 місяці тому +3

Yes! I would love to live a simple life like this. I know it takes baby steps to start a life of less.

I currently live with 8 people in my house. It is extremely over crowded and I'm constantly full of anxiety to organize and maintain it. Where do you suggest someone begin to declutter and get to a house of simplicity?

Yes, ma'am! I am taking more steps each day. Of course, we are preparing for a move to a different US region (high temps. in Winter are 50-60's°F! 😳😳!this year, which is a huge motivator. Also, I have gone from working outside our home to supporting my husband from staying home...will continue when we move, as we will be downsizing (at least temporarily) to one vehicle...his. ❤😊Thanks,Jess. I enjoy your content so much!

@AlishaGarciax dana k white has helped me so much with decluttering I've found her method makes the most sense and is the least anxiety provoking. Her books are easy to find at the library and she has a ton of videos on UA-cam.

Yes! Ugh ! I needed this video! I simplified a ton, but still grabbing for things I always do.. and holding onto “maybe”.
If you don’t mind, what size did you get in the dupe dress?

Love this! I have four graphic tees, four tanks, four hoodies, four leggings, and four biker shorts. I do laundry every 3-4 days. So simple and I love everything I wear!!!! Plus IDGAF about outfit repeating. It’s my stylish uniform 😊

I have thought of doing this so many times. I was thinking of a work uniform. Polo shirt and khakis. A pair of jeans for Fridays.

I love this concept! I’m struggling with having too many clothes and too little space in my small apartment. So I’d love to go as minimal as to the point where I don’t have to overhaul my closet every season, but can keep everything out all year. Let’s say I’d like to have an all year wardrobe with a maximum of 66 to 70 pieces. That’s 33 to 35 pieces every six months. That’s a puzzle that I’ll definitely figure out for myself. I want simplicity and a decluttered mind ❤

Yes, I live in South Australia in the foothills of Adelaide, we get Very cold winters and Very hot summers....so I need a fair few items for all the different weather/seasons.... I have divided my clothes up in all sorts of ways, but I'm currently trying the Summer/Autumn/Winter/Spring x4 section... all made into 'outfits' so all the pieces I would wear together, are hung together...so far, its working really well, instead of wearing the same stuff over and over, now I'm wearing everything, as I don't have to go through it all to find the right top/bottom/skirt/shirt to go with the other piece, its all there, grab and wear!!! 👍

Girl you slay in those jeans, they look amazing on you! Also I love your hair it is so long and thick and healthy looking.
I’m in MN and I have to have like 3 different coats and boots and all that. It’s so hard to pare down!

    • @SnowySpiritRuby

I grew up in MN and live in WY now, so I've dealt with real winters my entire life. I started my decluttering journey 8 years ago, and my biggest tip for winter stuff is layering. I don't actually own a pair of real winter/snow boots, yet I still work outside year round - I use waterproof hiking boots, toe warmers, wool socks, and waterproof knee high gaiters (which pack down to almost nothing) instead; the hiking boots are my work boots year round and my everyday footwear in the colder months, and sneakers or sandals are my everyday in the warmer months; I do have a few pairs of sport-specific footwear, but those don't count. I don't own an actual winter coat, either - I use my rain coat (got it one size up purposely) and layer under it whatever I need to - puffy, fleece, vest, hoodie, hat, ear warmer, whatever the weather calls for. Same with my rain pants.
Also, obviously, adapt for your own lifestyle and personal style - e.g. someone who works a corporate job would probably require a different kind of wardrobe than someone who works construction. I work on a ranch, so I don't need a lot of dressy clothes - I have one outfit that I wear for church year round, and a handful of other pieces that I wear to various other formal events throughout the year (weddings, concerts that I'm in, etc.), but that's it for dressy clothes.
As for the actual paring down, how I did it for me was I decided on a color scheme that I liked and in which the colors all went together (in my case, blue and white/grey/black) for my entire wardrobe, and used that to get things whittled down while making sure I still had all the winter layers that I needed. I have a few pieces that technically break the color pattern, but they still go with everything, so it's not an issue.
All told, at the moment, I have in my closet (I hang practically everything - the only things I don't are socks and underwear) 22 pieces of regular clothing (not including pajamas - I don't count pajamas because I wear the same ones year round), 7 outerwear pieces, 1pr sandals, 1 pr sneakers, 1 pr dress shoes, and 1 pr hiking boots. I add/remove as the seasons change, so the exact numbers fluctuate, especially in the spring and fall. I store the handful of "special occasion"-ish items and sport-specific things in another part of the house because they aren't part of my everyday wardrobe - I wear them several times a year, but not often enough to keep them in my small closet year round.

My body has changed so much the past 2 years- pregnancy last year and losing baby weight this year. Totally feel the concern about being multiple sizes and wanting big clothes for future pregnancies!I'm figuring out what makes me feel good and makes sense for my new stay at home life. I was a nurse full time so i wore scrubs daily and changed into pajamas after work😂. I crochet so my goal is to make a few fancy sweaters for myself and keep a simple base of dark pants/ plain shirts to pair with them.

These are so inspiring! I’ve gotten rid of so much clothes and now I’m pumped to dig into fall and winter. I think for now I’m going to have to have two separate wardrobes for fall and then winter because it gets so bitter cold up here in Michigan. I’ll be heading into full pregnancy wardrobe in both seasons so I want to feel comfy and cute without the decision fatigue!

Being mom is how I got away from jeans!
I became midi and maxi skirt mom for 14 years.
Now I have a pair of dark wash and black and what I call the grubbies, for housework/yardwork/gardening/messy stuff.
I do overdye the jeans every couple years.
But as long as trousers have pockets, full size, useable pockets, I’m happy with linen/hiking for work all summer. I am willing to to wear baselayers to make three season items four season.

The main reason a minimalist wardrobe won't work for me is that I hate doing laundry. Also water conservation is very important where I live and doing one or two big loads every two weeks is better than several loads weekly.
Then again, I never suffered from a wardrobe full of nothing to wear. Most of what I own matches and can be worn together.
If this works for you, more power to you.

Hey, I would love to have less clothing as well. And have seen this kind of videos from different people. What i still do'nt understand is how you do it with washing. If you have different colours you can't wash it together. But then you have to little to put the machine on. And if its hot I often wear different things a day. And then you have nothing to wear because everyting is in de wash.....
The same with your bedsheets. Some people have just one pair. Sorry for tmi. But what if you are intimiate at night, and want to clean it. You are not gonna wait al night till it has washed and dryed. So how do people do this. If anyone can explain, I am very curious☺

I've never heard of changing sheets after sex lol

    • @SnowySpiritRuby

I wash everything together on cold and delicate - I live alone, and, with the size of my washer, it works out to about one load a week. Anything that requires a different washing method goes in its own load (I have one category that always get washed on heavy, and another category that can't get washed with any other fiber type), but it generally takes several weeks to build up enough of those for a load, so I only do them when needed. It can take trial and error to figure out how many is enough but not too much, but with persistence you'll get there. I still occasionally have to run a smaller load because I've run out of something and need it/them clean right away, but I don't have to do that very often.
Personally, I wash my sheets during the day, that way they're dry and ready to put back on before I go to bed.

    • @pricklypetal
      @pricklypetal Місяць тому +5

You might try putting a towel down to save your sheets. 😉 Easy to pick up and you don’t have to wash everything at night. Good luck!

to be really frank I don't separate my whites from colors. I should haha but i don't. between my husband and toddler I have enough for a couple loads a week!

My problem is that I don’t like my clothes bar 2 or 3 things. I also have no fashion sense and have 3 kids and a SAHM so can’t afford to go buy clothes. Plus I’m wanting to lose the mum tum. My clothes are either too baggy from having kids or too tight from before kids. I’ll get there one day but it’s very frustrating.
