Always remember to ask for “Korean desert” is basically fried rice with something left in the pot but in this case they do with the crab head. They take the inside, make fried rice and put back in the head is sooo yummy

For those who are wondering or saying what she did was cruel, the reason why crabs and most crustaceans are cooked alive is cause a lot of them have harmul bacterins in their flesh that can multiply fast when the crustacean dies, so in order to prevent that and minimise the chances of food poisoning they are usually cooked alive or immediately after they are killed
Okay i get that but why not just eat something else that was killed in a maybe but more human way then.
(And held in a more human way but people probably are never going to do that so)
It doesn’t change the fact -- is still cruel !
Just a little tip from a Korean who loves seafood. A more delicious way to eat the head and the juices in it is to put rice in it and mix it together. You can also add dried seaweed and sesame oil. Most restaurants will give you the head opened like in the video here, and some will even cook it for you!!

I came here when I went to Korea. It wasn't a very good experience. I should've expected it when we came in, but the tanks were so overfilled with the fish and animals, they looked so cramped. It felt cruel, because I could see them bumping in the glass and trying to escape. When we ordered, the man that showed us the menu just grabbed an octopus out of its tank and handled it very roughly. Even if it couldn't feel any pain, it felt a bit cruel. And then when we went up to eat with my family, the food wasn't very good. The quality of the product was there, but it was barely seasoned, and always steamed lightly, almost undercooked. I also found it a bit expensive for what it was, expecially with how the food turned out. Of course, there was some good. The people were very kind with us, and we could see they genuinely wanted to help. But over all, I wouldn't recommend it. This is just my experience though, it might be different for others.

Unfortunately octopi most likely do feel pain, they have a very intricate and complex nervous system, studies show they do appear to show discomfort or pain responses to painful stimuli

At least have some decency and be respectful to a living animal during its life. These live animal markets are cruel and keep these sentient beings in a poor condition including not feeding them, changing the water, providing sunlight and leaving them in cramp conditions, where some animals end up hurting each other due to lack of space or starvation. They probably get manhandled and mistreated in some cases too.
Lost respect for this youtuber for supporting these practices, shows she lacks empathy and self awareness. Even worse she shows no reverence to the crab that is about to be killed for her to be able to eat. It's a living being not a photo prop for goodness sake.
Sometimes exercising some self restraint and discretion is more important than getting "content" for your food vlog.
This is part of the food chain. Humans, like other animals, kill their prey for food. Without processes like these happening, the food chain would be altered, leading to way worse issues than this due to animals (that are our prey) becoming overpopulated. You may disagree with these practices, which is fine, but to argue against it causes more harm than good, regardless of your intentions. Humans need to do these kinds of things, not only for us, but for the Earth.

Maybe they figure since the sea critters are probably only going to be alive for a few more hours most likely + only have a certain amount each day, it’s not the most efficient thing to have huge tanks?

I am all for animals rights and I think people in the us could eat way less meat, but it is insane to act like our species is evolved not to eat meat. We are literally evolved into animals that eat meat AND vegetables. The best thing to have is a balanced diet. That usually involves meat. I understand that some people can not at meat or animal by products and meet their nutritional needs, but they can only do so with a good amount of money and usually free time. For the average person trying to meet their nutritional goals they needs meat.

I'm sorry your mom got very sick from only eating vegan food- but it's likely that she hasn't been eating a normal vegan balanced diet. I know many people whose been vegan for over 5+ years and are still fine with no medical issues, so I am sure you can do it too.
I'm not forcing you, I'm just telling you that being vegan is a much better choice especially for the animals that are killed everyday, most in terrible conditions, especially factory farming, you can search it up if you want, but it's very gruesome and cruel to animals that most of the time, are younger than a year old.
