This is it. This is the most surreal video I've ever seen on youtube. And I was just trying to learn Hebrew letters...
Not a very effective way to learn the letters...but my favorite one? Totally.
Lol
تعرفين طلال سام؟😈😈
@@jwmberkowitz same
Under the Radar by Noga Erez is also quite surrealistic
Immediately obsessed with this and sent it to like 5 rabbi friends
I understand nothing but I felt something so special listening to this song, I love it
I'm a native Hebrew speaker and I'm not any different
It is so helpful for me
I am Egyptian learning Hebrew

Coptic?
This the most psychedelic alphabet song I've ever heard. I love it! It amazes me how much the letter sounds are similar to our pronunciation of the Cyrillic alphabet.
If you know Hebrew this song is incredible. It’s words, and prayers that sound similar, and somehow she connects them as well (not just sound wise)...very cool.
This song is amazing, and as an Arabic speaker and Hebrew student I can really appreciate the Mizrahi influence here in addition to the Kabbalistic poetry and ritualism
Not mizrahi but sephardic i guess
@@ahmetselimsavi2217 they're interchangeable...
Not exactly interchangeable terms. They cover the jews of the same region, but with different historical paths. The Mizrahi were in middle east continuously since defeat by the Romans 2000 years ago. The Sefaradi made their way to Spain, but in 1492, driven out by the Spanish Inquisition, spread through the Islamic empires, across North Africa to the middle east. Hence, same location as the mizrahim but with a different path in getting there.
@@jakebennett239 You are chronologically correct, but in modern times, unless writing a very specific paper, it's very much absolutely interchangeable. In Hebrew (from the middle ages onwards) "Spharad" is literally "Spain" hence Sephardic=Spanish. The reason this term is still in use (putting aside Mizrahi being a inaccurate borderlne racist term) is almost purely religious. Sephardic and Ashkenazi synagogues use different versions of the same prayers, sing different melodies, have different Halachaic nuance etc. This goes back to the 9th and 10th century when Spanish rabbis starting getting more independent from iraqi ("babylonian") rabbis who were the dominant rabbinic power at that time.
The spanish inquisition btw, worked mainly AFTER the banishment, to police converted jews, making sure they aren't keeping judaism in secret.
It is true that some Jews are sephardic but not mizrahi (maybe some people from Holland or Britain, romania maybe, greek - but there are very few) and vise-versa, but it is colloquially interchangeable.
@@FatManLaughing Interesting! 🧐🧐
Every year I find myself coming back to watch this around Sukkot - what an amazing song, and an excellent music video
Imagine this being recited in classrooms teaching Hebrew. This would be like some cheerleader round.
Ok, but like girl really snapped with this, yall cant argue with that.
As a practitioner of Kabbalah, this video is a fun, and excellent way to memorize the Aleph-bet.
as a new Hebrew learner, this is not an excellent way to memorize the Aleph-bet
I can’t speak any Hebrew so I can kind of relate, ميم
My friend, if you don't speak Hebrew, you are not at a level to understand or practice Kabbalah.
@@justinh9482is not true
I absolutely love this song, I think it's very wise how Hanna took the old Kabbalist concept of a Punctuation marks (Niqqud) as the defining element of the a letter's manifestation in the process of creation, and mixed it with a version of the Hosanna prayer of Sukkot
this Song is Kabbalist in nature, and speaks volumes to anyone that also looks at other texts then the Sacred Zohar
This comes from Abraham Abulafia's work, which is really compelling.
Oh ok so it's witchcraft! Thanks for the heads-up bro I'm like how am I supposed to learn the Hebrew letters like this?? Plus that goes against Yah's word. No thank you, not today Satan!
Najlepšia pesnička akú som v živote počula. Ľutujem ľudí, ktorí ju nikdy nebudú počúvať....

For English Speakers Description/ Translation
This captivating music video begins with all the sounds of the Hebrew alphabet and takes flight into a surreal rendition of the image-rich poetry and prayers recited on the Sukkot festival.
Vocal artist Victoria Hanna researches ancient sacred Hebrew texts and sets them to music that explores their mystical nature in combination with contemporary modes of communication and symbols. Her work reveals transcendental aspects of voice, text, and spatial perception, as well as an astonishing vocal range and timbre
Much of the inspiration for her current work comes from Jerusalem, where the overlapping of past and present, ancient and modern, lies at the city’s very core.
Her work presents sacred Hebrew texts, prayers and spirituals in a unique and utterly modern context integrating theatre, music, spoken word and video.

Man and beast
Flesh, spirit and soul
Sinew, bone and skin
Likeness and image - a tapestry
Splendor resembling futility
Compared to images of beasts
Luster, figure and stature
Renew the face of the earth
Planting trees in desolate lands
Winepresses and stacks of grain
Vineyards and sycamores
To the demarcated land
To heal with powerful rains
To give life to forsaken refuse
To sustain with vegetation
To enhance with sweet fruits
To invigorate with flowers
To rain on the sproutlings
To pour a stream of cool waters
To cloak with droplets
To elevate the thirsty earth
Which is suspended on silence
Lord who saves
Other than You there is no Savior
You are powerful and abundantly able to save
I am impoverished
Yet You shall save me
God is the Savior
God delivers and saves
Those who cry to You - save
Those who yearn for You - save
Satisfy Your lambs
Cause an abundance of crops, of trees, of vegetation - save
Let the wind bring the soaring clouds
Let the stormy rains roll in
Let the clouds not be withheld
God who opens a hand and satisfies Your thirsty ones - satisfy
Your callers - save
Your beloved - save
You seekers - save
Your wholesome ones - save

Greetings From Georgia! 🇬🇪
this got under my skin and worked on my subconsciousness and i find it brilliant, moving, touching and revolutionary. the correct pronunciation of the letters is so damn fantastic!
this is great deep and psychedelic; however she still doesn't pronounce the letters ק ט (q t' )
Nice observation. This 'r' though often quoted aa Yiddish is actually slightly different than the Yiddish one, and actually there's reconstruction that trace it way back (hinted by the Tiberian restrictions on Dagesh on 'r'), yes, it's quite a mixed contemporary popular Hebrew hypercorrection mixture. The Sephardic prounciation of 'Ayin being /ŋ/ btw.
Sephardic from morocco pronounce ayin
and a few of the mizrahi communities pronounce all the letters in the correct way except the vowels....
That's what I wanted to say !!

I just stated learning Hebrew last Monday. I am watching many videos. I am a seminary student. I can't get enough of this video Thanks!
As one who barely speaks my native English tongue, I love this transformative song and video so much. I have watched it countless times.
I have no idea what she is saying but the sound is very beautiful.
I really want to speak hebrew
same
it's the prayer for the holiday of sukkot
+Dave Castle
the beginning is the hebrew letters.... the rest of the song is a prayer that each sentence begines with the letters by order.. like the first sentence begins with the first letter the second with the second etc.
The prayer is called Ashrei. We recite it the entire year, not just on sukkot.
Listen again. It's from the Hoshanot prayers said during Sukkot, not Ashrei. It even says so in the title and the text has been provided at the top of the page.
Just found my new obsession
Nothing less than genius. Thank you to the creator of this song for the awesome learning experience.
I'm learning Hebrew and I'm officially obsessed now
This was the trippiest thing I've seen in a long time. :o

We are brothers, part of our Ancestors were Hebrews, but the others were Anazigh !
Love Morocco ❤
Arabs and Jews are literally cousin’s tho..
Incredible approach towards language it's rhytmics, pronounciation, music hidden within it :)
I am SO addicted to this video and song; I have probably listened to it 40 times in the last few days and I still can not get enough of it.
This is such a blessing to my eyes, ears, and soul.
I first saw this on Facebook. After the first few seconds I was confused as to what I was watching. So I stopped it and read the lyrics and description. Then I was like, ok I will give this a second look. Half way through it I turned up the bass and cranked up my speakers. By the end I was getting emotional and teary eyed. There is such power in the language and music; not to forget to mention her artistic style. It is so beautiful how she visualized the glory of the Lord and Jewish heritage.
Chops Church do you have the English translation? Would be really nice to understand the lyrics!

Just to comment that the two chants / poems (" Man and beast", etc) are acrostics in Hebrew (poetry in which a letter in each line, usually the first letter, forms a word or message relating to the subject) and spell the Alef to Taf Hebrew letters. Children are taught the alphabet by chanting these around the age of 5 or so. Victoria Hanna is a Sephardic jew not from Europe and her rich and forgotten culture of Jews in the near East is celebrated here!
Guy Bar-Nahum - I'm curious, why do you say forgotten?
Gary Kober Well, it is a painful subject, but Eastern Jews rich culture was decimated by the Israeli melting pot of the fifteens and sixties and only in the seventies and eighties they were able to get some recognition for their culture especially through music. These grievances are still a major political force that fuels Israel right religious bent since the Likud party exploited these in 1977.
I don't know how I got here, but I'm strangely satisfied.
3 years later and I'm still floored. The artistist expressions in this video is amazing.
Makes you want to start Learning Hebrew...:-)

Seriously? 'cause it makes me wanna forget Hebrew...

There are genders for almost every word except 2 or 3,there are 4 different numbers (Male/Female numbers+Male/Female places) with different genders each and there are [3]+[2]+[2]+[2]+[2] similar sounding letters which you can't know what to use when unless you are familiar with the word,there are also 5 letters with 2 sounds for the same letter and without indication about the sound and above all of that there aren't any 'guiding letters' like in english (A,E,I,O,U,Y), {also occusionally there would be some but you wont know if you need to pronounce it or if it is there to 'guide' you}

I just now realized that the Hebrew alphabet has a similar pronunciation as the Arabic alphabet it’s just written in a different way. But still didn’t get a word from the song. I guess Arabic and hebrew are similar though cause hoshna or (حوشنا) in Arabic could mean save us too if used in the right sentence. Funny song btw I see it’s meant for children but I couldn’t stop laughing 💙💙
different root than the Arabic ש-ע = س-ع

I was absolutely not planning on finding this - oh, agreeable algorithms and happy accidents 🎶😌🎶
Same, i found it today and I love it
@@ConESC26 Grateful for your reply; I haven’t listened to Hanna’s music in a couple years and having my memory refreshed is fantastic so thank you ☺️
@@TzadikTheManic You're welcome
מדהים! ממכר! פעם רביעית ברצף :)
I went to an Ashkenazi Yashiva and I was taught through song and repetition, but we didn't get no honey for getting anything right. Sadly my teachers and family had a hard time getting me to learn Hebrew. I only managed to learn how read Hebrew some what, but I can't speak it fluently or understand it like the rest of my family.
My parents and teachers thought something was wrong with me growing up, because I was able to speak a little Russian and French as a child. Then later I learned how to speak in Japanese and write/speak in Spanish.
I still struggle with Hebrew till this day. Since I like music and beats, I'm trying to figure out how create a rhythm to reading and learning Hebrew through music, wish me luck.
בהצלחה!
Dude I understand I struggle with Hebrew myself and this is coming from someone who’s parents were born in Israel I speak Arabic better than I do Hebrew and it’s sad 😂😂
ווואילהההה..אין לי מילים לקחת לי את כל האותיות מהפה..מטריףףף!! ומי שעשה תקליפ אומן גאווןן...ממש מזכיר את פעם מתקופת ה20😫😫
That moment when there is a deep drone in the background and the branches are spreading from her fingertips, is the moment when something absolutely vast, strange and incomprehensible first makes its appearance... I love it.
Thanks UA-cam for putting this on my recommendation 🤩🤩🤩
Bop AF!

I used to listen to this song from time to another , it's marvellous and beyond !
Victoria Hanna is a Sephardic Jew, her richness echoes North African culture and the golden age of Arab-Jewish coexistence. Arab culture from Yemen to the Marocco is at the core of Sephardic Judaism. She is simply an Arab Jew.
Her native language is not Arabic so she is not an Arab Jew. I hate when people impose titles on other people.
Her culture is a mixture of Arabic culture from North Africa and her Jewish Sephardic (Spanish) religion. She speaks Arabic and Hebrew. The music is especially influenced by Arabic music. In Israel the European Ashkenazi Jews look at her as Arabic Jew.
Guy Bar-Nahum what are you talking about? Who looks at her as an Arab Jew in Israel ? Just a few radical leftists high on Ella Shohat with a very specific agenda.
@@guybubba Jews from Arab countries are not Arab. Like the Copts in Egypt or the Assyrian Christians. Yes Arab Judean culture.
What a treat! ❤
WOW!!! This is intense, amazing, and exploding with energy and symbolism of Kabbala ! LOVE IT!!!!!
This has got to be the most beautiful thing I heard all month.
Thank you for the passion with which you deal in the matter of the Hebrew Language, Victoria. What beauty I found in Hebrew that made me want to acquaint myself with it in the first place is tenfold magnified by what I've seen you do with it :)
I like the way she said Ayn and Resh :)
bop honestly
شكراً يا طلال على الطرب ...
