I feel like having the key boss monsters of the archetypes literally be singletons in the draft while everything else is available in at least 2-ofs contributes to the issue. With how dry some packs can get there's literally no reason not to hate draft every singleton you see unless there's really something valuable for you due to how much it cripples anyone drafting into those strategies, especially in four person drafts where cards are wheeling often.

Even though it causes a huge power disparity, I love that Battlin Boxers and Evol are super strong while Salad is borderline unplayable. We never see the boxers, and rarely the dinos, but Salad shows up in like... every sealed series ever, and is meta playable, so I'm happy to see different strategies get represented.

Random idea for a potential draft. Alt win conditions. So like a bunch of unique winncons in the pile, while also having soem normal stuff. Would be cool to see some of the more obscure alt wins piloted by the cube

its too easy to hate draft, you can get a piece of destiny board, exodia or many others and thats it, other ones like flying elephant and stuff like that would be the only real option and playing with those cards suck
This is the first time I’ve really considered the power difference between Fire Decks pre 2024 and after. We really went from Flamvell & Laval to Snake Eyes & Fire King. What an insane disparity. Yugioh Year of Wind when.
Correcting Farfa on the 6 Heatleo guy, he didnt top a regional, he was a content creator here in Brazil, and made a video showcasing the structure deck, on the video he made a deck using only 3 copies of the structure deck and since the deck came with copies of the card with different artworks, he assumed they were different cards, but he never used the deck in any tournament, it was just made for the video
I think the general approach for this draft was perfectly fine, but I think how each archetype was handled individually was maybe a little off. Fire King is made *so* much worse if anyone hate drafts the single Garunix, Salad was nerfed a little too much and lacks a win condition at all (Burst Gryphon is a big dude but he doesn't really do anything, especially without having two of em; i think having either rage or roar would've been fine), and it feels odd to say but I think Evol was maybe a bit too strong (and also, no one thought to snipe those)? Battlin Boxer looked insane, but i think that was moreso due to no one thinking to snipe any of those cards either lol. Gage got *real* lucky with those that said, still a real fun episode overall :)
I think a theft cube would be a cool one to see. Graydles, Santa Claws, Remove Brainwashing, Switcheroo, Change of Heart, Aliens, Kaijus, Hinezumi Hanabi, Wonky Quartet, etc.
38:12 I can't believe I'm saying this but Farfa is actually correct here; despite the fact Lead Yoke's name is referring to carrying a literal Lead (Pb) Yoke in the artwork, so every logical fibre of one's being screams it being pronounced as such, it is (for whatever reason) actually supposed to be pronounced "lead" (as in lead side) phonetically, even in Japanese. Can't blame people for pronouncing it like the element though, as that is really how it ought to be pronounced logically (even if it's technically wrong).
Gotta also remember that his Japanese name isn't even Lead Yoke, its Lead Blow, so there's no abnormal emphasis on the Yoke itself in the name. If it was Battlin' Boxer Lead Blow in English I bet fewer people would have pronounced it Pb. I think the English translates were trying to be cheeky but inadvertently ruined the pronunciation clarity of the name.

I wanted to help and share some ideas I have that you can do for a cube are: - An Edison cube (Only cards you can use in edison in the cube) (You should Invite ruxin to this one) - A individual cube for the remaining few attributes (Dark, Light, Wind, or Earth cubes) - A Fusion strategy focused cube (Cube includes fusion cards and stuff that works with poly etc) - A burn cube (The cube includes mostly burn cards and cards that inflicts damage to the opponent) (An additional idea on this is you could make the starting LP 4000 instead) - A specific Arc cube (Like this cube would be decks from a certain era within the anime) (Example: If you did a 5D’s cube, you can include the most popular decks from that anime like blackwing, resonator, rose dragon, stardust, junk, etc. - A trap cube (A cube that only includes only trap cards) - A Spell cube (A cube that only includes spell cards) Hope this reaches you and maybe one or a few of these ideas get used.

I liked how MBT heaped praise on Doug's value deck and how it followed principles of limited compared to the turbo strategies, only for both value decks to eat s**t to turbo strategies
@MiyaoMeow588 There were 4 people and 4 good archetypes to go into plus jurracs and genrics. Dezeef's salad drafts screwed over MBT's deck consistency while Gage and Farfa were pretty unopposed in their archetypes. It seemed like there were always going to be 2 good decks, a slope deck, and a deck whose consistency was ruined by whatever archtype the slope deck took the most away from (in this case salad but could have easily ruined BB or FK by stealing 6 important cards)

This was an amazing episode. The decks were unique and all of the duels were fun like always and the banter was funny. A great way to kick off 2025. After watching this live and then edited, I do basically agree that I prefer a cube with more synergy based and less archetype based. Means it’s a little harder to hate draft and doesn’t just become who drafted the most of their archetype cards.
Once you're done with attributes you can explore type groups. Like insects / plants / reptiles. Or dragons warriors and spellcasters for example, with all having several generic support cards. Basically do what Konami refuses to do for monthly fun events. And add Maxx c to the insect group lol. There are so many other n/r/sr good generic cards like titanocider, lost wind, imperm, monster reborn, rota, dark hole, raigeki etc, cards that everyone owns or wouldn't break the bank that you can include in these too. This one turned out interesting but felt like less of a draft and more of a master roulette.
I think Hazy Flame would have been a neat include over something like Salad, especially if they were gonna make them this bad anyways. If we wanna show off the lesser seen fire decks, we can just not put in Salad or FK at all.

A draft with the different alt-types for maindecks could be fun - Spirits, Gemini, Toon, and Union, with a cultured power level and some older "powerhouse" cards like BLS mixed in with newer things that never saw play, like Amaterasu.
This series is AWESOME. Limited gameplay of TCG’s is such an incredible way to play. It demands so much of the player in such a fun and creative way. Maybe a future cube idea could be a remastered version of the Battle Pack sets; generic playables that don’t have inherent synergy, but can play well with one another depending on picks. 3:24
Machine Duplication cube would be tight. All the shitty small machine decks and 12 copies of Machine Duplication. I'm talking Deskbots, Morphtronic, Vehicroids, Symphonic Warriors and all the tiny Cyber Dragons
An idea for two cubes could be a hero and villain style cube. One having the main strategies of the MC of each season of the anime, and another their main rival/villain
Doing a HAT format draft would be interesting. Especially if you had limited number of ice/ fire hands because that strategy really relies on three of each and hate drafting would be very viable
I would love to see a cube focused on cards that revolve around zones and columns. I think it potential for crazy mind games and its criminally under supported by Konami nowadays.
Idea for a draft, fallen of albaz lore (I think everyone would need to get polys for free but it could work) so stuff like despia, dogmatika, tri brigade, spriggans, etc
I think a cube filled exclusively with pack filler from 2023/2024 would be nuts. There's a lot of really cool, fun cards in the core sets that do nothing because they're just not strong enough to come up ahead of the top decks. We have battle traps, removal, synergistic cards, and so much more that just got overlooked.
Ive been meaning to try putting together a cube of Weird Free Agents, stuff like Silent Wolf Calupo, Miradora, Eka the Flame Buddy, some of the generic Illusions, yknow what I mean? That could be a fun theme.
You know what how about an Aqua draft with ice jade ,Gunkan, penguin and aqua actress? All 4 have pretty distinct game plans and you can have the Paleos be generic support for all decks
This may be a terrible idea but I would like to see a Fairy-type draft since a lot of fairy archetypes have this weird thing where they're like half archetype locked and half type locked so I think a cube like that would be funny
I would like if these were closer to mtg limited drafts where you have to evaluate individual cards rather than like "tunnel into archetype and hope nobody hate drafts you", cuz we basically got "shitty constructed boxer" vs "shitty constructed evol" vs 2 limited decks. I was really expecting the Fire draft to be like idk backfire burn, solar flare dragon, raging flame sprite type stuff and it just felt like a saga episode where 2 people pulled nothing and had to play slop.
I know its not always easy or feasible to do these big colabs but as a viewer, I definitely click on them more than just watching 1 content creator do deck highlights or weird master duel challenges. Yugi apes together strong
If we're picking silly cubes I'd love to see the top like 4-6 decks (with much fewer staples if any in the cube) of a format would be great to see. Mainly because I think the competitive, deck important cards will be hate drafted & so everyone will end up with a weird pile
Rank/link/level 2 draft could be cool. Melffys, Sprights, Paleos, Frogs, and maybe some tangentially related stuff like Live Twins, Runicks, or Purrelys.
Fun little suggestion. Wonky Quartet vs. the Three Idiots. Dzeef being a part of both can be an excuse to make it 3 vs. 3. Farfa, Gage, and MBT vs. Seereax, Dzeef, and Doto. Maybe a Tier battle. Spin a wheel for the Tier for each match and the two opponents spin a wheel for that Tier to choose their decks. Best 2 out of 3 for the three different matches win.
Next cube do tri types and include limited copies of tri type engines like tri brigade, giving folks options to pivot several type related avenues or focus on one type exclusively
I played evols way back when they were actually a really stong deck in 2013. But people were just on the Chaos grind back then. But with the slower playstyle of how yugioh was they filled in a perfect as long as you got weslo off, which was easy back then, you had a pretty solid board. And Sollda was super slept on. Protection, plus it could respond to any special summon, not just inherent ones. The only unfortunate part was that sollda didn't negate the summon, but most of the time was good enough. Unfortunately they weren't Spellbooks, or chaos, or wind-up good.

Doing a HAT format draft would be interesting. Especially if you had limited number of ice/ fire hands because that strategy really relies on three of each and hate drafting would be very viable
I would love to see a cube focused on cards that revolve around zones and columns. I think it potential for crazy mind games and its criminally under supported by Konami nowadays.
Idea for a draft, fallen of albaz lore (I think everyone would need to get polys for free but it could work) so stuff like despia, dogmatika, tri brigade, spriggans, etc
I think a cube filled exclusively with pack filler from 2023/2024 would be nuts. There's a lot of really cool, fun cards in the core sets that do nothing because they're just not strong enough to come up ahead of the top decks. We have battle traps, removal, synergistic cards, and so much more that just got overlooked.
Ive been meaning to try putting together a cube of Weird Free Agents, stuff like Silent Wolf Calupo, Miradora, Eka the Flame Buddy, some of the generic Illusions, yknow what I mean? That could be a fun theme.

You know what how about an Aqua draft with ice jade ,Gunkan, penguin and aqua actress? All 4 have pretty distinct game plans and you can have the Paleos be generic support for all decks

Theme for a cube: oops all HERO. the cube is literally filled with HEROS and poly cards
This may be a terrible idea but I would like to see a Fairy-type draft since a lot of fairy archetypes have this weird thing where they're like half archetype locked and half type locked so I think a cube like that would be funny
I would like if these were closer to mtg limited drafts where you have to evaluate individual cards rather than like "tunnel into archetype and hope nobody hate drafts you", cuz we basically got "shitty constructed boxer" vs "shitty constructed evol" vs 2 limited decks. I was really expecting the Fire draft to be like idk backfire burn, solar flare dragon, raging flame sprite type stuff and it just felt like a saga episode where 2 people pulled nothing and had to play slop.

I know its not always easy or feasible to do these big colabs but as a viewer, I definitely click on them more than just watching 1 content creator do deck highlights or weird master duel challenges. Yugi apes together strong

If we're picking silly cubes I'd love to see the top like 4-6 decks (with much fewer staples if any in the cube) of a format would be great to see.

The equip trap can be used in the damage step. There are fiend with chain rules for this
The fire kings are insane for this format even just as one ofs. Like rangballi and arvata don't need more than themselves and a fire to kick ass
Rank/link/level 2 draft could be cool. Melffys, Sprights, Paleos, Frogs, and maybe some tangentially related stuff like Live Twins, Runicks, or Purrelys.

A cube with monster that have weird stat lines that end with 50 or another number could be something.
Fun little suggestion. Wonky Quartet vs. the Three Idiots. Dzeef being a part of both can be an excuse to make it 3 vs. 3. Farfa, Gage, and MBT vs. Seereax, Dzeef, and Doto.
Maybe a Tier battle. Spin a wheel for the Tier for each match and the two opponents spin a wheel for that Tier to choose their decks.
Best 2 out of 3 for the three different matches win.

A big archetype like d/d/d as a draft theme could be cool, everyone is the same archetype

My suggestion for a cube: Duel Terminal cube! Those old cards have a bunch of crossover synergies, anti-synergies, and most importantly….LOOOOORE
personally I want to see a Zombie Cube, there's a bunch of cards that are actually kind of fun to see in a mirror

I played evols way back when they were actually a really stong deck in 2013. But people were just on the Chaos grind back then. But with the slower playstyle of how yugioh was they filled in a perfect as long as you got weslo off, which was easy back then, you had a pretty solid board. And Sollda was super slept on. Protection, plus it could respond to any special summon, not just inherent ones. The only unfortunate part was that sollda didn't negate the summon, but most of the time was good enough. Unfortunately they weren't Spellbooks, or chaos, or wind-up good.
