    Hi Ron, I'm glad you are trying to raise awareness of this but I can't not say something about this. This explanation is not quite complete or correct. I also thing the example of the crash at the end is likely not anything to do with hinging/Flapping (we called it hinging where I came from). The reason the blades teeter of course is to compensate for differences in lift from the advancing blade (having more airspeed) than the retreating blade. Causing the advancing blade to flap up (decreasing its angle of attack and hence washing off some lift) and the retreating blade flapping down (increasing its angle of attack).
    When the rotor rpm is too low the difference between the two is more extreme. For example if my blades are doing 300mph at the tip and my forward speed is 20mph then its 320mph for the advancing and 280mph for the retreating 18% difference if however my rotor speed is say 50mph and my forward airspeed is 20mph then the advancing blade is 70mph and the retreating is 30mph 57% difference. At the extreme if my rotor speed is 20mph and airspeed is 20mph then the difference is 40mph advancing and 0mph retreating. Obviously having zero airspeed means zero lift and the retreating blade will fall as low as it can while the advancing blade still has plenty. Now the retreating blade will stall (exceed 16degrees angle of attack) long before it gets this extreme. So your visual explanation is good but your explanation I feel misses the point.
    The trouble is getting into any zone where the rotor speed and forward airspeed combine to create a situation where the retreating blade stalls. If this happens it will have ZERO lift.
    The trouble with the modern method of wind up is it attempts to avoid good practice on wind up which should be progressive and attempts to force the gyro through it. It mostly works but when it goes wrong it really goes wrong. Winding up to extreme rotor rpm then gunning it (even if counting to 4) you run into several problems. 1 your rotor rpm is going to start decaying as soon as you disengage the pre-rotator. You are now trying to catch up with a speed that will not only maintain that rpm but build it to full flying rpm. 99% of the time this seems to work but uses excess airstrip to do so. Want proof watch this gyro with hand wound rotors then show me a shorter take off using the modern technique outside of extreme wind ua-cam.com/video/36ogAzGGyG4/v-deo.html this was a mate of mine taking off on a taxiway (not the airstrip in next to no wind). This was normal. Anyway if anything goes wrong like as you correctly point out holding the stick too far forward or getting some delay like an rabbit runs out in front of you or something falls to your feet or you adjust something etc. Then you are now setting up by going straight to full throttle a situation where you may experience flap at a speed where there is next to no chance you can do much about it. At 40mph full blown blade flap is going to be much more violent than at 12mph.
    Your video shows a gyro simply taking off behind the power curve and hitting the blades at the back because he took off too steep. We can tell this because during blade flap the retreating blade is stalled and will not be conning up. Similar to this

    I fear this method of take off leads to these type of accidents. Its not as fool proof as people think. We need to get back to people only giving enough speed to build the rotor rpm from where it is at. Trying to catch it after over winding the rotors seems to cause as many problems as it solves. But happy to be shown wrong.

    Just a comment about the accident video at the end, one reason for the rotor mismanagement was they got in a hurry because a plane was coming in and there was some discussion about who should be occupying the runway. I was told this by someone who was present. It was in CR. Take your time and do it right!

    Too many people treat controls as on-off switches. Stove plates straight to 10, etc. Common sense is the missing ingredient, that long process where we teach ourselves that 'everything man has wrought man can rend asunder'.

      Normally, the indication of rotor blade flap would be violent shaking of the stick!
