My first time traveling there was in 1998. I was on the way to Phnom Penh via Sihanoukville from Trat/Hat Lek. The water was bathtub clear, the sand was white and the foliage was deep green. There was little more than a fishing village at the time.
Now it is changing. Compared to the time of 1998 streets in Cambodia are already paved and there are lots of restaurant along the roads. Stay safe dear!❤👌
@@visitandshare I have been fortunate enough to have been able to visit about thirty times since then by road, boat and plane. Some of the best things about the country are : variety of great low price Western food, excellent bakery available everywhere, and scenery.
Sihanouk ville before the Chinese is just the same vibe as the island. my mum has a restaurant on independent beach, we didn't make lots of money from westerners but we were happy to serve.
Can see some issues with it becoming a fully blown tourist place in a short period of time hence why the airport is progressing slowly and such. Getting there requires some effort (as you probably know). Then if the airport opened it would probably be domestic flights coming in initially (I remember when they opened the airport in Koh Samui Thailand over 20 years ago and it was the same thing). There are alot of competing places like it, which are a bit more developed and more interesting for high paying international tourists (Phu Quoc in Vietnam comes to mind). So I suspect the money to pay for the airport will come along as the island develops and they can see some return on the money in a shorter period of time. But yes, beautiful beaches and a great vibe.
Atta boy! Wearing a hat finally. Thank goodness KR is still under developed. Thank you so much for your beautiful exposure for this beautiful young developing country that desperately needs tourism. Well done my man. Look up Shinta Mani and Tatai area. Trust me.

Ey champ! Thanks! Aw yeah Koh Chang is beautiful too 😍 Koh Rong is very different. I hope you make it out here beautiful the airport is built as it will change the island drastically:) 🏆
I've been to Koh Rong Samloem twice . It's the " sister island", the one less developed ( at least til a few years ago!)and smaller one. It was a really stunning, relaxing and peaceful island! We really loved it so much. Everything you need is just a couple of steps away. Cambodia is so underestimated, which, actually,is better for us tourists. Less crowd means less spoiled and more authentic! Thinking, thanxs to your video of going back..again😅
Nice! Yeah Samloem is still less developed though there is a ferry now and I’m sure there will be more development in the future:) aw thank YOU for watching 😊
We went there with our 2 little toddlers 6 years ago. It was absolutely breathtaking!! We went in the water for a good 150 yards out to sea and my toddlers can still stand up to their waist areas. The water temperature was heavenly like bath water…we were so spoiled, compared to California ocean temperatures and Lake Tahoe water temperatures 🥶. Good to know it still looks about the same. We plan to return soon for another week stay like last time. Beautiful hidden paradise!! ❤❤❤
I would recommend another island called Koh Rong Somlem, if you like being in the peaceful and quiet place there are two beaches there: the first one is Sunset beach and another is Lazy beach. I was staying at KAMAKU Bungalows. The sunset view is amazing.
I went to Koh Rong 2010-2012 Stayed in the Long beach and only way to get there was a hike trough the jungle or take a boat near the shore and swim rest of the way to the beach with your backpack. It was too shallow to enter by the boat. Only 1 guesthouse at the time called Broken heart guesthouse, Finnish owner! What an absolute paradise it was..
I been to that island many many years ago that time only local people and a few foreigners. Give my suggestion to whom ever in charge of the developing the island. Build a water airport. Have plane lands on water it give an island vibe.
