I just got this at my comic shop on Wednesday! Definitely one of my grails! Such a good figure and it actually pairs well with the Legends Watcher since the Watchers are a race.
Im new in the marvel legends collecting i started last year. From the last April i bought 2 marvel select imortal hulks, 1 ms juggernaut ,1ms sabretooth, 1 ms colossus and the local comicshop in Greece will deliver my watcher in 10 June. The next one I have to hunt down is abomination ms. I know the marvel select are no great for power pose with the limited articulation they have but for the 100% comic representation they have. Thats make them must to have for my marvel legends comic version collection i build.Thats all cu✌️🇬🇷
For me marvel select is superior, glad to know other people in Greece collect stuff too

I'm just like you comicfreak_85. Another thing that happened to me is I am replacing some Legends figures with Marvel Select figures. If you are interested, Marvel Select has the Iron Man Silver Centurion figure that comes with so many accessories it makes it one of my favorite Selects.
It's a great looking figure, and it really represents the classic image of the character. I'm a fan of the Fantastic Four and all the cosmic stories from Marvel, so this figure is a must-have for me. I didn't build the baf, because I was not a fan of all the characters in the wave. That, and the version of the Watcher didn't really appeal to me. The great thing about the MS is that despite the lack of articulation, it doesn't really take much away from the character whose role is to bear witness to cosmic events with a vow of non-involvement/interference. I only wish that he was slightly taller, because he is supposed to be a giant nonetheless. Of course he's been known to violate his vow in certain events like in the coming of Galactus, but those are very rare occasions.
Uatu has probably interfered with dozens upon dozens of events at this point lol

GREAT QUESTION! … collect for the value or the love of the figure … coming back into collecting, I’m ALL about the figure. IF the value goes up, cool… But definitely not my reason for collecting. Since I’m MCU primarily I’ll just stay with my BAF Watcher. Awesome review as always bro 🤙🏼

This is a DEFINITE purchase for me! And as you said, it is for the LOVE of the character and comics! i find this to be THE comic accurate Uatu, while the articulation is disappointing he is a must have! Unfortunately, I had to get him for $50. :( My impatience ccst me $20. LOL
I just got mine yesterday from Entertainment Earth and I am so happy. I cannot wait to get him out and take some pics.
He's a great size for ML and no one really needs articulated legs for Watcher. He just stands and does nothing anyway.
I just got this for $13 loose on the aftermarket.. the shipping was also $13.. but IMO it was an AWESOME deal!
Also my collection is 100% Marvel Legends..but as always.. the Marvel Select larger figures scale PERFECTLY with Legends!👑

I mean, the dude just stands there and occasionally offers warnings by standing there and talking. So, for me the limited articulation is fine since he’ll just be standing there on a shelf “watching”. But, I guess if you were wanting to put your Watcher in a spider man pose you’ll be disappointed.

I have it preordered on BBTS… my local Comic stores got them in but they charging $35-40… so I decided to wait for my $25 preorder. Plus they usually do sales every month anyway at the comic shops

Ooooof, I thought he had leg articulation as well, and I was also hoping his neck would have allowed for more up and down movement. As you said, though, he just needs to go someplace high and stand and I still can't wait to get mine! Still holding out hope that Hasbro does their own ML 616 version of the character, which honestly I think they might to add more cosmic entities to go with Galactus. 🙏
If you are a comic based action figure fan of Marvel characters - this is the Watcher. You nailed it with your assessment that Marvel Select are display action figures. Thankfully, I have the original so I didn't need to get another. But at $30, you can't beat that price for what you get.
My answer: I purchase the Marvel comic-based characters that I have an attachment with (usually through comics) that demonstrates a value for the figure's price.
I don't collect Marvel Select figures, But the Marvel Select Watcher will work in a Marvel Legends Fantastic Four display and to fight the 32 inch Galactus, While he is cool, I rather get retro Mr. Fantastic, Thing, Human Torch, Okeye BAF wave Black Bolt, Namor, Walgreen's exclusive Medusa and Namor, As always, Great review MCUcollector24.
I just got mine from Dorkside, I ordered in April 2021!
They say I got it, but I moved, now will have to see whether or not the new owners have it.
@@cardsfanboy Oof I hope it works out brotha. Pretty dissappointing that Dorkside can't send a notification when it ships. I was totally surprised, and like you said, if you've moved in the last year and a half then that's a huge headache.
I have the original release one and there is a small difference….the black on the collar was not there on the original it was just blue
Great fig but i had to pass coz im trying to purge some of the collection. Im just sticking to the characters that i really like and avoid too much clutter

This was originally released in 2005 (I believe) so you definitely need to take that into account. It’s still a quality figure statue, articulation could be better mainly for the legs but it’s definitely worth the purchase.

One of the rare times the ML version of a character is inferior to a MS. This is the Watcher we deserve. Sure, he could use more articulation, but what's he gonna do? Punch Galactus? High-five Eternity? This does what it needs to do, unlike the orange abomination ML shat out.

Back in the day marvel select were basically just miniature statues with minor articulation so this is fine with me one of my grail figures

I think a lot of people get way too hung up over articulation. Of course everyone has their own reasons for collecting and a lot of people do ACBA and make some great photography but a figure like this doesn’t need too much. With a long robe like that it doesn’t really need leg articulation and those types of figured that come with a base like that it makes more sense to not have any ankle movement because over time the joint could become lose and cause it to fall over when while pegged onto the display base. Overall I think it’s a great figure especially for it’s time. Maybe Hasbro will make a comic version of him soon but I don’t see how it could look as good as that one unless they put in the extra effort like with MODOK and Mojo.
It's hard to excuse the articulation of a 17 year old figure release in 2022 with the level of articulation other companies have long since addressed. It's difficult in 2022 to view this figure through those 2005 eyes(especially if you weren't collecting).
As an action figure, articulation is a major component. Otherwise you have a statue. People get hung up on articulation because they want to pose the figures. When sculpt and articulation meet a nice compromise, no one complains about too much articulation. You can choose not to use the articulation vs not having the option.
@@DesignIncase I totally agree to a certain degree. I’m one of the few that does complain about too much articulation and prefer a mini pre posed plastic statue however my favorite figures are McFarlane Toys from the late 90’s/early 00’s. However I think Hasbro has some of the best articulation in their price range and really lends itself to toy photography. These photographers do amazing work!
